Forced to change pediatrics because we moved to the north side, we decided to try Aquarius pediatrics out, their reviews didn't seem bad so we decided to try it out. They have a beautiful fish tank in a dim lobby that's very relaxing to look at and during the summer feels great because it's so hot outside. Decor is modern and kid friendly. Dr. Almendarez is very professional, sweet and very thoughtful. She genuinely has concern for your child's well being. Staff sticks to their protocol but it's a shame I can't say they have the same concern for as the doctor. I feel like I have to pull teeth out when I've expressed to her office staff on a Friday (which is half day for them) that my child has had a high fever for days while their office was closed for the holidays but it wasn't until I nearly flipped out from the lack of sleep that they gave me an appointment for my asthmatic and feverish son. After months of visits I know the routine and they ask you to fill an asthmatic evaluation for both parent and child. We have been there many times early enough to give us two 10 questionnaires on evaluating your child's condition but hand it to us last minute. I feel that either there needs to be more working professionals in her office or more attention to detail to patients. Follow up calls concerning your child's improvement don't happen here. I have higher expectations than these! I hope we can look past them and focus only on the experience with the doctor for our own child's sake but after having the best experience from my children's first doctor's office near medical that were so attentive...yes, I do expect more from Aquarius Pediatrics. I hope they can extend their hours on Fridays and maybe even have some kind of availability on the weekends like other offices do, so we don't have to be switching offices. read more

My was born in December and has a VSD, so when he got discharged from the NICU we needed to get an appointment the following day to be seen by a pediatrician. I called many different places that put me on hold for a long time, just to tell me that they didn't have space in their schedule, or never returned to speak with me after putting me on hold. I called Aquarius pediatrics and the receptionist answered right away and making the appointment was so easy, we've been seen 3 times. 2 scheduled visits and one was a work in because I thought my son has thrush. I'm honestly surprised by the work in visit, because I called that morning at 9 am and he was seen right at 12, it just made me feel reassured if he has an emergency I can call and make an appointment right away. I absolutely love the staff, they are so friendly and just so careful with my son, plus we love how close the office is to our house. read more

Took for a while to find a doctor close by and who took our insurance, chose this practice. They don't do appointment reminder phone calls so I have to cal to verify that it's still on, but it's fine. Never a long wait to see the doctor, she answers all my questions and pretty easy to make an appointment. read more

Racist staff with no bedside manners who like to use stereotypes and microaggressions to speak to both parents and child patients. Continuously rude to my teen, making slick remarks when she answered loaded questions. They have absolutely no regard for the mental health of new patients. Yvette Almendarez even went as far as to NOT refill one of my daughter's prescriptions as retaliation for me standing up against her attempt to bully my child. Her counterpart, Nathalie Tiberio, did not accept my daughter's healthy diet answers and asked if she was sure she doesn't drink KOOL-AID or sodas. They have been formally reported. Dr day is a great doctor. She fits my son in when needed in a timely manner. She is very thorough with checking him and so is the staff

Dr. Day is just exceptional with our girls. She is friendly , compassionate and truly cares about her patients. Also the front office staff is very helpful. I've brought my son here since he got out of the NICU 2 years ago, I'm a first time mom so I wasn't really sure what to look for when it came to my child's care. Everything was great at first but then progressively got worse and has been hell getting my child in for his 2yr appointment and shots. I've tried to change providers within the practice and was told that was not allowed since we had started with Almendarez (makes no sense and isn't done that way anywhere else) then when making an appointment I was told that they couldn't give me any appointments after 2pm because that's when they see their covid/ sick appointment which is fine and all but I'm a single mother and there is no way I can get off of work before 2pm to take him into his appointment and when I explained that they could not offer me any type of solution or accommodation. On top of that, when I am able to make an appointment for him there are no confirmation calls done and the "confirmation text" they send out doesn't even say the time of your appointment. When I brought this up to Holly the receptionist, I was met with attitude and spoken to in a very condescending manor after that. Oh and whoever the referral coordinator is truly needs to get it together, my son has been pretty behind developmentally and needed to be in therapy/seeing a developmental specialist since he was 6mo old. The amount of times I called and asked to send the referrals out or to follow up on them was ridiculous. It took until he was almost 2 to actually get him seen by specialists and that was because I had to contact everyone myself and explain that the staff at our doctors office was not doing the best. I wanted to love this place and doctor so much but I've had one too many poor experiences here that I don't feel comfortable bringing my child back. read more

I have been with Dr. Almendarez for about 8 years. She was originally at Live Oak Pediatrics and we loved her so much that we followed her to Aquarius Pediatrics. Holly who helps with insurance and billing is always so friendly and helpful. We love this office. We don't even live in this area and make the drive to come see them. read more

I wanted to like this doctors office SO much. My husband and I are in the process of interviewing pediatricians for our first baby due in October. I called and made an appointment with this office after verifying that they're accepting new patients. Their site looks nice, they don't have a ton of reviews, but Dr. Almendarez has a great little bio on their site and it appears to be a new practice on her own. Our appointment was three weeks away from when I called which was a little surprising to me, but it's also the start of the school year so I understand being extra busy during this time. We arrived at the office at 3:45ish for our 4:00 appointment. Checked in at the front desk. It took the lady a while to find us in their scheduling system which made me think "did they forget to put us on the schedule?". Sat and waited. By 4:30 my husband and I are getting antsy that we've been forgotten. We see 4-5 patients come out of the back and nobody goes back. A family (mother, daughter, son, grandfather) comes in and checks in at the window. The mom and son go straight back without being called so I assume they're using the restroom. But they don't return. Grandfather and granddaughter continue waiting. By 4:40 we're really wondering if anyone is going to work with us. Granddaughter goes into the back unprompted. We FINALLY get called in to a room. We can hear that the full family who arrived after us is in with the doctor. We decide to continue to wait. We hear that family leave. Still no doctor. We give up. I just can't see myself being willing to wait over an hour to see the doctor with a newborn. I didn't feel like the doctor had time for new patients (even though their sign on the door says they're accepting new patients). I do understand if she got behind due to a large patient load, but then why would you schedule us to come in if you're booked? No nurse or receptionist tried to talk to us on our way out. No effort was made to save the poor impression. Overall we were very disappointed. The office is close to home for us, doctor is board certified, and office does have a cool fish tank like other reviews boast; for me, that's not enough if the doctor can't see patients in a timely manner. read more

The staff is horrible with communication. They've overcharged my family several times without telling them what they payments are for. 120.00 here and 89.00 there. We have insurance. They are not explaining the policies. I'm going to have to dispute these charges and hold someone accountable. My daughter likes the Doctor but the ethics of this practice is messed up! read more

We love Dr. Almendariz and her staff! We followed her after we had a terrible experience with a previous pediatrician. The new office is super close to where we used to live. After moving to New Braunfels we decided to keep our kiddos at her practice because of how much we love her. She is worth the drive. Her staff is friendly and professional and always treat us with care. My kids look forward to their visits with Dr. Almendariz and her staff and I appreciate how they love on them. Any time someone asks for a referral for a pediatrician I always recommend Dr. Almendariz. She is by far the best pediatrician we have had! I also appreciate how friendly they are on the phone. That speaks volumes to me. read more
