When we first moved to the area in Nov of 2020 I was 6 months pregnant with baby #2 and was in need of a new OB/GYN and pediatrician (for both new baby and our 5 year old son). I, of course, took to Yelp to help me find a quality doctor. However, I quickly realized San Antonians don't utilize Yelp as much as I had hoped (meaning: there weren't a lot of reviews which makes finding doctors and other things a little harder). But, through my newfound OB I was recommended to Stone Oak Pediatrics since we needed to have a pediatrician on-file before being discharged with baby (when she was delivered). I have to say that since meeting Monica Riojas and the various nurses (and front desk staff) we have been very happy here. In order to enroll our 5 year old son in school right away we needed a pediatrician and opted for Almouie, but were disappointed with the care they provided. So, when baby #2 came along we knew we wanted a new primary care doctor for both of our kids (just to make life easier). They all have been so helpful, courteous, friendly, and understanding of our family's needs. I have always felt comfortable to ask questions or even question some of the recommendations by the doctor/nurses. Our son is also on the autism spectrum and she helped us with resources and specialists as needs arose with him within the year. I'm grateful for the transparency and that her recommendations are vetted and she adheres to the most up-to-date CDC and AAP recommendations. The care Dr. Riojas gives is top-notch and we've been very happy with our overall experiences. read more

I want to leave a review as a warning to parents of what I experienced at this clinic. When I first came in for my 1 month old's routine check up, I was impressed by the cleanliness, and by how nice our doctor was. For her 2 month shots, I figured we had found our forever clinic. Again all routine things... You don't think to ask what kind of labs they run there, and you don't know how they will treat you if something more serious comes along... Anyways 3 weeks after my 2 month old received her shots, she was extremely fussy, irritable and was not sleeping or eating well. Took her in as a walk in and was seen by Dr. Oliver. She was given a prescription of antibiotics after we had to do a CBC and urine culture at north central baptist. (This is irritating in that you have to leave the facility and hope that you make it on time before they 1.) close for the day 2.) can forward the results to the pediatric clinic before they close for the day). I was only instructed to give her the antibiotic and Tylenol for her fever after the labs came back. I am lucky my mother is a pediatrician, because she informed me that with a 2 month old with a high suspicion of a UTI, you don't take any chances and go to the hospital. At the point Dr.Oliver gave me the ok to go home and just follow the instructions above, she already saw how elevated my baby's WBC was and there could be a possibility of sepsis or a more severe infection which having more tests could rule out. So we went to the hospital because it didn't sit right that maybe this could be more serious and not just a casual thing to brush off for a 2 month old. Turned out she had pyelonephritis and we had to stay in the hospital for a few days. The icing on the cake is that a week after being discharged from the hospital, we received no call from the clinic (Dr.Riojas is her main pediatrician there) to follow up in regards to how our baby is doing or anything. So yeah if you just want your routine check ups, I guess it's fine. But you will never know how caring a clinic or doctor are until something more serious comes their way. Not happy with how casually they treated my baby's condition and had I not taken her to the hospital, she may have had worse outcomes, considering the infection got to her kidneys. No follow up just shows a poor continuum of a care, and that is why I felt the need to review them, so that this can be avoided. read more

Dr. Riojas was our pediatrician from newborn to a little after 6 months. She was always professional. She was very helpful when our daughter dealt with eczema and rhinovirus. At our 6 month visit, we were told to start letting our baby CIO for up to 20 minutes if she was waking during the night (unsolicited advice, as we were fine with the amount of night wakings occurring). She's an exclusively BF baby and I'm not sure how that's conducive to BFing to at least 1 year (which is what AAP recommends, although the WHO recommends 2 years). Night weaning this early could DEFINITELY affect supply. We also wanted to discuss BLW (after taking a course and becoming CPR certified), but were shutdown on that being an option. I'm aware it's not part of AAP guidelines but recent research has shown so many benefits! Anyway, we elected to change pediatricians because we felt strongly about NOT sleep training and continued with BLW. If these do not concern you, then no other complaints here! read more

Don't even go there , they did a covid test and a strep test to my daughter using a company QUALITY FORENSIC TOXICOL and the charged the insurance 5 different testing and is out of network. All this is fraud to make money charging more the insurance and patience . The facility is outdated . They need technology.I am not going back to that place! Dr Gunsberg is great! She has been seeing both of my kids for several years. She is very kind and compassionate during each visit. When my daughter was born she really helped me with breast feeding and saw my daughter through the many illnesses she got as an infant! I feel very confident and comfortable with Dr. Gunsberg and recommend her highly! read more

Dr. Oliver is my son's pediatrician and we absolutely love her. She has been the only doctor my son has seen since he was born. She has a great way with him and always takes the time to show him what she is going to do before she does it and never makes us feel rushed. She also takes the time to explain to her findings and the logic behind her decision, which as a first time parent is greatly appreciated. When he has been sick the office staff has been quick to get us in same day and the staff is always polite and professional. The office is always clean and the waiting room and exam rooms have little toys to keep the children entertained. The wait time is never long either. I recommended Dr. Oliver to a friend who had a premature daughter, she had originally went with a different pediatrician that was closer to where she lived but had a bad experience. She loves Dr. Oliver and was very happy she switched. read more

Front desk staff was rude. Called me hon, honey several times. Waited 25 minutes to go back for a vitals check. Nurse was also rude. The wait time to see the doctor was ridiculous and unacceptable. Will look for a new pediatrician now. read more

New to SA I took my 2 yr old daughter for her physical here and she was given all clear. My mother decided tot ake her again the next day (long story) and they said she had multiple infections and was very sick and put her on antibiotics. I took her to a different pediatrician less than a week later and they could not figure out how they came to that conclusion, that she was perfectly healthy. I even took her back a week later to be safe and she was given a clean bill of health again. The second visit where they told my mother she was extremely ill cause a ripple effect of issues and ALOT of money. Needless to say we have switched pediatricians read more

After interviewing 5 pediatricians based on Angie's List, Yelp and N.C. Baptist Hospital staff recommendations, we chose Dr. Oliver as our pediatrician. Two and a half years and two kids later and Dr. Oliver has been great! Our son and daughter were both hospitalized numerous times - Dr. Oliver was a great liaison between other doctors/specialists. On several occasions, we needed help after hours and Dr. Oliver responded quickly. The staff is friendly, the office is not crazy, and same day appointments are usually available. Check-ups are very thorough - ours usually last an hour. Dr. Oliver covers a lot of information and patiently answers all of our questions. We never feel rushed. We are very happy with our choice and would highly recommend Dr. Oliver! I should also mention that Dr. Riojas and Dr. Gunsberg are good backups when Dr. Oliver is not available. read more

Dr Oliver is fantastic. I switched to her when my daughter was 6 months old (she is 8 now) and we love her. She takes time to listen, she is patient, she proactively addresses issues, and my daughter loves her. We have used Dr. Gunsberg as a back up when Dr. Oliver was out, and she was just as great. Another thing I truly appreciate is their time management skills. They appreciate that the patient's time is just as important. In 8 years I have NEVER sat out in the waiting room forever past my appointment. If I have a 2:00 appointment I am seen at 2, or very close to it. No sitting 45 minutes to an hour past your appointment time. And that is BIG now s days! read more

We can always get an appointment when needed, and Dr. Oliver answers any questions we have, remembers my children and things we have talked about in regards to them. The entire staff is very kind and knowledgeable. They do everything possible to make you and your child feel at ease. If there was an option for negative stars, I'd choose it. I called Stone Oak Pediatrics after we had to cancel my daughter's tonsilectomy due to an issue with our insurance. I confirmed on the phone that Stone Oak Peds did accept United Healthcare. We were turned away from our first appointment because we were not scheduled as a new patient. I was told they would order her records from the previous doctor and we could schedule an appointment in a few days. 3 weeks went by. I called twice to check on the records to eventually find out they were never ordered. Once they DID order the records, we were seen by Dr Oliver, who was very sweet and very helpful. We were referred to a new ENT. On the day of the ENT appointment we found out that Stone Oak Peds had never sent the referral. We went ahead and scheduled surgery, while I called Stone Oak Peds for a referral. I was told the referral would be sent and we were good to go for surgery in 9 days. I had her bloodwork and lung xrays done (for the second time) and called today to confirm that the referral was sent. Low and behold, they JUST discovered that they do not accept our insurance. We've been seen there twice, and they JUST realized this?? So no referral. Surgery is cancelled, AGAIN. And we are back to square one. I'll be mailing them the bill for the bloodwork and xrays. Its a shame. We really liked Dr Oliver. But the front office help is SO disorganized and scattered. read more

Dr. Gundsberg was awesome! I took my 16 month old daughter to her for the first time last month after dealing with the nightmare that is University Health System's SW clinic. She was very thorough, kind, and interactive with my daughter and gave me alot of advice to help her with speech development. She really cares and it shows. I highly recommend this office! It was very clean and there were lots of toys and things to entertain the little ones while waiting to be called back. read more

I usually love the office until today. One of the front office ladies was extremely rude to me and my husband when we called to get our daughters physical. It's not Stella she has always been so amazing! Hopefully she can learn better phone etiquette and customer service over time. read more
