In advance, I asked for a therapist trained in the McKenzie Method based on recommendations for low back pain. Phone person (who was very nice) checked and said that would be no problem. However therapist I saw, while familiar, wasn't certified. Place is jammed with older people (with potentially no/low deductibles) and, by listening to the patients checking in, a LOT of workers comp patients who are looking for reasons to not go or leave work. So ka-ching$$$, for Gold Medal every time they visit. Physical therapy services that are provided are adequate and not quackery but unless you have the in-office equipment they use at home, you have to come in. Younger front office staff complained loudly to each other about being understaffed. I chose Gold Medal in part based on Massage Therapy services advertised. Only to discover it's all out of pocket and they only have one massage therapist. Plus they haven't figured out that billing massage therapy as manual therapy is what works for insurance companies so it's covered. Actually went back to my doctor for a new referral and found superior service with another PT office in Bel Air. That PT worked with me the entire time, provided a home exercise program on my first visit, and asked if once a week would work with my schedule though no massage therapist on staff.

I had the option of a 30-minute in-person consultation or a 15-minute virtual one both on the same day. I chose to go in person because I wanted to not only learn about the services but also see the space for myself (plus, it was so close!). Shortly after booking, Cara-Michele, the practice owner, called to confirm my appointment and suggested I double-check my insurance coverage. That evening , I arrived a few minutes early, and I'm glad I did. The GPS directions were a little off. The building houses several other businesses, and is secure, requiring visitors to be buzzed in. As soon as I walked into the suite, Cara-Michele greeted me warmly, and I immediately felt comfortable and confident that I was in the right place. Her calm, compassionate demeanor and thoughtful questions helped her understand my needs, and she gave me the space to express my frustrations after so many prior appointments that left me without answers. Cara-Michele walked me through all the services offered, including nutrition and physical training, as well as showed me the equipment and products she uses. While she made no promises, I left that consultation feeling truly hopeful. I scheduled my first acupuncture treatment for the very next day, and the second the day after. The sauna at Holistic Solutions was state of the art, from the lighting, areas of concentration for the infrared treatment, the lighting, even down to the music (either your own or choose from a selection similar to what you'd expect to hear during a massage session). Cara-Michele was great and seems knowledgeable about her craft (which seems to be overall holistic wellness). She took the time to explain how the sauna works to me and after my session she walked me through all the different programs she offers. I liked that she had a lot of holistic supplements for purchase but I only discovered them from looking around on my own, she didn't try to push them on me like a used cars salesmen. Outside of supplements she also has nutrient powders and shakes but be advised they're not vegan. I have a primary place I already visit for acupuncture but I do plan to visit this place again to try out some of the other services offered.

I would rate her a 10/10 for professionalism and customer service. Pricing Issues & Customer Experience Unfortunately, my experience with the owner was not as positive. When I arrived, she expressed frustration about the Groupon price, implying that I was taking advantage of her by using the advertised deal. She stated that the regular price for the service was $250 and attempted to charge me $225, despite my showing her the Groupon deal for $172. When I reminded her of the advertised price, she rudely dismissed it, saying it was "too low" and then demanded $175 instead. Although it was only a few dollars more, the principle matters. Maryland law states that merchants must honor their advertised pricing, and a customer shouldn't have to negotiate or feel pressured to pay more than what was listed. For this issue, I would rate the pricing transparency a 0/10--very dissatisfied. Customers should not have to pay extra to avoid a negative interaction, especially for a chemical service that involves their face and skin. This interaction made it clear that my experience wasn't an isolated incident. The owner admitted that she uses Groupon to bring people in but then disputes the price once they arrive. Additionally, because the reception area lacks privacy, these conversations play out in front of other clients, which isn't ideal. Service & Aftercare As for the service itself, the owner applied the VI Peel well, and I was satisfied with the treatment process.
