Have had two visits for a low back/hip issue. The office chiropractors are a married couple. I have only met with Dr Russel Antico and am very impressed. He is an excellent listener with great bedside manner. After the first visit, he came up with a comprehensive plan to recovery and emphasizes that we are working together for the fix. There is a small PT staff to help teach exercises/stretches and the front desk assistant is very helpful. It's wonderful walking in to an office of people who care. I was recently treated at this chiropractic office. The treatment was outstanding. The best treatment I've ever had. Don't waste your time with pills like opiods. They are dangerous and don't work. I was concerned that I herniated a disc this time. Dr. Antico knew exactly how to proceed. I had lower back and hip pain with pain radiating into my lower leg. I had 6 appointments at this place with Veronica Antico for my neck and back problem, and they went smoothly only because she basically didn't do much. Sometimes I even felt worse after the visit, and just ended up back at where I started. But a big reason for my post is in regards to the billing transparency. The initial consultation is NOT free, they just play you to make it legitimate. They avoid talking about billing so they can hit the patient with a huge payment load before they realize it. They also try to squeeze in as many appointments per week as possible, don't fall for the trap. Inital examination: $135 Physical therapy: $35 per 8 minutes of them watching you. Adjustment: $52 Anything else: $50 per technique Just wanted to help people with the potential costs and not make the same mistake I did. The office was very clean, however, I was charged for 45 minutes and received a 26 min massage. The massage itself was just ok, she only massaged 3 places, not the full body trigger point massage I had requested. It was more of a Swedish massage. I don't think I'll be going back. read more

I got injured during a race in August 2014. It felt like a pebble was in my shoe but, as it turned out, I had a dropped metatarsal bone. I went to a Podiatrist who was nice but told me nothing I didn't already know (except he did take X Rays's to rule out a stress fracture). I followed all his recommendations (rest, ice, blah blah blah) and even wore the custom orthotics he had made for me. Did all the exercises. However after 2 months I was still feeling pain at times while running and everyday walking around. I'm a Howard County Striders member and the Dr.'s from HCC came out and did a talk with us early on in our training for Fall Marathon and they were at a Metric Marathon I did and really helped me out on that day - so they were my first choice for a different take on my injury. I haven't been to chiropractic for many years. I like and use alternative medicine (acupuncture, Bachs flower remedies, Homeopathy, etc) so it was not unusual for me to seek out someone outside of what might be called mainstream. I specifically wanted to see Dr. Elek because he is the one who treated me at the Metric Marathon - and I have never felt so good after a race (and that was the furthest I'd run EVER). Well to say he has helped me is an understatement. He listened, he worked with me and he developed a plan to treat my issue which was more multi faceted than I thought. He knows athletes and I found that very helpful. What's he has been able to do with my foot is amazing. I'm virtually pain free during races and running now. I'm so happy with this office. OK plus - here is the nitty gritty. You know the Dr. is only as good as the other folks who do things like run the office. The lady they have doing this is top notch. I always get appointments when I need them, I am greeted by name every time, and everyone is so caring. I cannot recommend this office highly enough! read more

Amazing! This place has been instrumental in getting me back on track. Several years ago, my S Joint locked up and I felt like I couldn't even move. I was panicked and didn't know how my back would get better. I called this place out of the blue and they were so accommodating and got me in right away. They have been a lifesaver. Last year I could barely walk to my bathroom from the pain in my lower back. Dr. Antico and his amazing staff as well, as work with Teri Nofer who is a massage therapist, have enabled me to become fully functional and able to be physically active without any pain. They also teach me how to correct my posture and exercise at home every day to keep my issues at bay. As a result, I am capable of exercising and doing yoga again. My flexibility and stamina have improved greatly. Kayaking, fly fishing and hiking are back pain free. Life is good again thanks to these amazing people and this profession and science. The Doctors are great but don't be late for an appointment. I was turned away because I called at my appointment time and I was at the light at Dobbin and 175 (less than 5 min away). I needed the appointment so very badly and was not allowed to be even 5 minutes late. I literally had to pull over in the parking lot at the Ale House to stretch because I was in so much pain after a 45 minute commute (which should have taken 20 minutes but rush hour in MD is so unpredictable). If you have a job and don't have unlimited time to commute to and from this place, may need to find somewhere else to go... read more

I had been dealing with chronic lower back pain for years and have tried various means to address it -- physical therapy, therapeutic messages, stretching, hot showers, Advil, etc. only to get only limited relief. A month ago, I went to a spa for a deep tissue message. Afterwards the masseuse told me that I had a weird 'kink' in my lower back precisely at the site of my pain. Finally, that did it: I called my doctor and asked for a referral to a "good" chiropractor. What I got instead was a referral to a GREAT chiropractor practice with two talented doctors and an outstanding staff. Dr's Antico (Russell and Veronica) are both fantastic. I was impressed by the facility (modern, convenient, and very clean), the staff (each one friendly, caring, and very competent), and the comprehensive program they created for me. For the first time I am on an actual plan that includes a precise set of stretching exercises, physical manipulation, progress checks, and strength training -- all designed to not just alleviate today's pain but also to get me to a much better place. After seeing multiple orthopedists and physical therapists for what was deemed an "unknown" knee injury, I thought I would try a different (to me) approach in my quest for answers and progress. After having two children and carrying them around all the time, I was starting to notice that my hips felt funny. It got to be urgent when my leg started to go numb. I went to Dr Antico based on a coworker's recommendation and their location. At first I thought the number of visits and massages and exercises were excessive, but it didn't take long for the numbness to start to go away. Now I feel 100% better and I think going about it any other way would have been a bad idea. The massages and the exercises are all about whole body health, not just fixing one problem. First and foremost, the therapy that I received at Howard County Chiropractic was excellent. I was treated with massage therapy, Graston therapy, active release therapy and strengthening exercise. After living with knee pain for 6 months, I am now usually pain free and am beginning to get back to normal activities as well as hiking, biking and eventually tennis. I like to ask a lot of questions so I was happy that Dr. Elik fully explained everything he was doing. He also gave much practical advice for reasonable adaptions of movement to prevent further injury as well as advice on overall healthy living including diet and strategies to relieve short term, minor soreness. Further, the office is attractive and welcoming Each and every staff member is professional and personable, greeting each patient by name. They are also prompt. I have always been wary of chiropractic services in general, the whole idea of being popped seems unsettling to me. After the birth of my first child I had residual back pain that never fully went away. During my second pregnancy I started having serious pelvic pain such that I could barely get out of bed without things popping in and out of place and quite a lot of discomfort. My Ob-gyn strongly suggested I see a chiropractor, which I just shrugged off. Then I started having serious pain under my ribs which wasn't easing up any. After a second recommendation from my ob-gyn, several google searches and youtube videos, I finally decided to give it a try at 34 weeks pregnant. The first appointment was more of an evaluation and I got a very good impression from Dr. Mr. Antico, who came up with a strategy to get me moving around better prior to delivery. The therapists who taught me stretches were super helpful and considerate. At this point I am 37 weeks pregnant and have been adjusted several times by both Drs. Mr and Mrs. Antico, both of whom are really great. I am moving so much more comfortably that I can't believe I ever had reservations about getting treated. Now instead of scuttling along and doing the pregnant waddle (which I always thought was just a given), I am walking so much better, even than before the pregnancy, and I have so much more energy. So I would say to any of those prego ladies with reservations about getting chiropractic treatment, give it a shot most definitely.
