Not really the best selection, it could have been just that particular day. Staff was nice, however!

Nice, clean store. Better quality than goodwill, and very nice staff. Prices are reasonable.

I've gotten some great deals on clothes, housewares, and jewelry over the past 20 years.

Second Treasures - Kid's clothes

Second Treasures

Thanks to fellow Yelper, Richard P., I found this little thrift store, which is in the basement of…read moreSt. Paul's Episcopal Church. The thrift store is opened to the public and sells mostly clothes (women's, men's and children's ) and shoes, with also a bit of vintage jewelry and women's accessories. I like rummaging through thrift stores and looking for unique vintage items. The volunteer staff is super friendly and helpful. Changing rooms are available to try on clothing. The small shop is well organized. Prices are very reasonable and proceeds benefit the food pantry. Jewelry was marked half price during my visit. I found a stunning artisan necklace, which I regret not buying. The shop is located behind the church and there is plenty of parking. The shop maintains the same hours as the adjacent food pantry, so the hours vary.

Second Treasures will be open about 10 hours a week with a particularly focus on supporting the needs of its Washington Township neighbors. It's patterned after the church's popular Bazaar and Clothing Sale and will support the work of the church's Women's Ministry. A good majority of the items are donated by church members and will be staffed by volunteers from the church. It's located at the North end of Second's Mission Suite (outside the Northside Food Pantry). The thrift store is opening to the public on Tuesday, April 23rd, and will be open on Tuesdays (12-3pm), Wednesdays (3:30-6:30pm), and Saturdays (9:30am-12:30pm). I was pleased with the items available and the prices at which they were marked. Clothing, of course, is quite popular here and there are items for men, women, children, etc. While you won't mistake this non-profit, church-based thrift store for one of the behemoths in terms of selection, this is a really cool idea for a great cause. Today's soft opening/open house was a great chance to get a feel for everything to be offered and how it all will work. Cash and credit cards are accepted. In terms of accessibility, there's plenty of accessible parking and doorways are pretty decent. This is on the first floor and accessibility should not be an issue. 5-stars might be a tad generous given the simplicity of the project, however, I'm always a fan of true non-profit, mission-based efforts and I'm anxious to see this one grow and truly support the Washington Township area.

Wheeler Mission Store - Home goods

Wheeler Mission Store

Wheeler is a much better place to donate than Goodwill because they value what you donate and treat…read moreyour items with respect. They do not run big outlet locations like Goodwill where they dump donations in huge bins for people to root through and damage. You can drop off items behind their store, or in off hours bring them into the store. They so not spend tons of money on fancy TV commercials and fancy stores. Their profits go to directly serve homeless people and those with substance addiction problems. I personally know one of the people they helped to turn their life around. Please make the little extra effort to go to their thrift store which is east of the super Walmart on 96th to shop and donate. Help this small organizarion continue to do good work in our community.

The Wheeler Mission Store is one of my go-to thrifting spots. Is it the cheapest? Naw. Is it…read moreclean and well organized and have a good variety of things to choose from? YES! This location is on the same side of the road as the Walmart and in the same plaza as the Petco, Platos, and the Autoparts store. The staff are super nice and there are a lot of volunteers walking around as well. I have found several things that are new with tags (priced accordingly), tons of name-brand goods, and there is rarely that funky thrifted smell that permeates everything you get from the WMS. They have everything from clothes to furniture/household goods to really nice jigsaw puzzles. Everything is super easy to find. Prices here at the Mission Store are a little higher than places like Goodwill, but every purchase supports the Wheeler Mission by providing meals and funding for training to their residents. There are also hand-made candles and other wares that the residents make while staying at Wheeler for purchase. Once while shopping I noticed it was busier than normal and the associate explained that they allow Wheeler residents to come and shop for what they need to get back on their feet. COOL!

The Toggery Resale Boutique - Amazing amount of designer labels at bargain prices at the Tog. And because I had consignment credit it cost me $10 for 6 pieces

Broad Ripple

Oh the places you'll go! I'm sitting here on vacation drinking my coffee early morning in my tank…read moretop I got for $3 from the Toggery. This place is the best! We came here on a sleepy Saturday afternoon and hit the jackpot because they were having a sidewalk sale with very nice prices. I walked away with Talbots, Athleta, Rock and Republic, Free People on clearance and splurged on a Lululemon sweatshirt for full price (still under $40 so no complaints there). Not only are the prices great but this store will make any organized persons heart sing! Amazing organization and flow of the store, kudos Toggery! I will be making another trip here next time in the Broadripple area.

At first, I was a little disappointed in The Toggery because it seemed like the clothes were just a half step up from a regular Goodwill, but then I found the jeans, and now I'm not so sure. I think it all depends on when you shop, and what you're looking for. If you're looking for unusual vintage gems, you probably won't find that here. If you're looking for regional-trendy clothing ... you will probably find that here. I visited on a Saturday afternoon, and the racks seemed a little picked-through, but I think that's because this place is popular and so the racks probably were indeed picked through. They buy clothing during the weekdays, so if you want to find the good stuff, you should probably visit during the week, I'm thinking. The clothing is arranged very nicely, and everything is super organized and clean. They have dressing rooms available that you can just walk into (you don't have to flag down someone!), and they also have sale items that are pretty good. Like most consignment shops, they don't accept returns or exchanges, so make sure you're happy with your items before you purchase!
