Again, there was no fault in the conversation but it wasn't a place I would really go into again for certain. The reviews are accurate in the items there-I have seen the same at other thrift stores around; nothing stood out in the experience. I have only a problem in that this website does not specify not accepting wedding dresses. This dress is brand new; 3 months special order from David's in a plus size and gorgeous. Perfect condition; I wanted only for someone in my area to benefit from it for a low cost without it running the risk of being handled in a thrift store. I am not certain how it could have been a deficit to the store as the dress is full lace and vintage looking as it gets. However, I couldn't even show it to her before cut off definitively. I agree with the last review when placing consignment up there in everything stated. It seems to be problems only with people coming to consign and it might very well be my appearance as well that made her more reserved although this is only an impression I got and by no means an absolute.

So when we…read morewere back in town recently on a road trip, and my husband said he wanted to stop at the video game store, I said please drop me at the Thrifty Shopper on your way. :-D This isn't a huge thrift store, but not tiny either, with plenty of plaza lot parking. The clothing is all pretty well organized by size. I appreciate that Thrifty Shopper does two Color-of-the-Day tags, one for 50% off an one for 75% off. I did find several garments tagged in those favorable colors, and used the pretty clean and handy changing rooms to try things on. Unfortunately nothing clothing-wise went home with me, but I did find a couple glassware items and a few books that I purchased. The books section is a small room in the back of the store, but if you dig around we found a few nice titles of interest to us and for our kids. The housewares area was pretty limited, I remember there being more selection. I still use our king-sized full bedroom set that I purchased from here years ago (it's a vintage NBA set!), and recall there being more of a linen variety too. But there was still plenty to poke around for the hour in this thrifting paradise while my husband was in his video game store paradise, haha. If you too like to shop second-hand, this Thrifty Shopper is a quality stop to see what treasures you can find. :-)

I frequent many thrift shops in the surrounding areas. This store is the worst I've ever seen! The…read morestore has never opened on time when I was there. She has pulled in 20 mins late, Then (while I sat waiting) didn't unlock the door. She proceeded to slowly comb through the donation boxes people left (still waiting). A truck pulls in and she talk to this guy for another 10-15 mins! Finally, he leaves she unlocks the door and I meander over. Once entering the store the smell was like old wet socks hitting you in the face. Each time I see the owner it's a different personality. There are days that she is polite and then days she does not even greet you. Once as I was browsing the racks, a woman came in looking for a specific type of gown. The owner did not even get off her cellphone long enough to point her in the direction of the gowns! The woman threw her hands in the air and left. The quality of the clothing is below what I find for cheaper at Salvation Army or Goodwill. There are very few name brand items and most items are faded or have severe pilling . I suggest checking every zipper, button and seams as many items I have seen being sold were broken or in need of repair. Her prices should be cheaper for the WELL- WORN clothes she is selling. Overall, prices are high you can buy NEW for less at retail, don't expect to be treated well or find bargains. Call first before wasting your gas, she may not even be there.

A really nice, large multi-vendor antique/flea market with lots of vintage finds. Little kids might be a bit bored but unlike many of these types of stores where it's a lot of old clothes and books, I found EOAC (may I be the first to shorten the store name to 'ee-oh ack'?) to be very diverse and was not bored at all while the rest of my family looked around. Prices can be hit or miss, and the sellers are not around in their individual 'booths' so there's no opportunity to negotiate, but given that this is a retail store, the prices were definitely not outrageous. Pro Tips: -We were there around closing time and they do shut down promptly at that time- lights off, doors locked. Make sure you buy whatever you're looking at before then. -There's a good amount of on-street parking along the side of the store, particularly the diagonal spots right around the corner, if you can snag one -The two-block area of Owego around the store is really perfect for strolling/shopping/hanging out. -The downstairs part is very clean and well organized, and not super-crowded with stuff. The upstairs is a little funkier, especially the side and back rooms (which look like they may have originally been employee break or stock rooms). Don't make the mistake of not at least taking a peek upstairs and seeing if there's anything you like. The only drawback I see is the second floor is not accessible; no ramp or elevator that I saw, only stairs (remember this was built as a department store in the 1950's). The first floor does seem wheelchair accessible though. So far we've been here twice and would stop by again if nearby. If you are a die-hard antique/collectible person, this store could be worth making into a destination all it's own.

The staff treated me well, and I walked out with a nice mix of store credit and cash in my pocket. They actually thought I was crazy for making the trade at all, but that's okay -- it was my stuff, and I'm the one who decides.
