They have a little bit of everything -- vintage items mixed into collectibles and actual antiques. A bit of furniture, some clothes; a nice selection of jewelry; a few books and magazines; but a lot of China, bric a brac, and household items. Like everywhere else, it pays to know what the market values are. And I always like checking the current prices being charged for things I grew up with. I did wind up buying a lovely bracelet here. And got a very good price on it. It's the kind of place you need to walk through several times. There's a lot of items and you won't see everything the first time around.

There aren't too many stores like this in this area so The Flip Side is a welcome addition. The Flip Side has another store in Lauderhill on University Drive. Aside from a Chucky doll wearing a Florida Panther jersey and some old records, there was a vintage Coca Cola vending machine and a matching bench which instantly absorbed my attention, but sadly not for sale. It is right around the corner from the up and coming F.A.T Village Arts District. It's a family owned business so if you see something you want to haggle about you can speak directly to the owners. Sometimes they aren't there so just call before you come down. The two rooms of the store are filled with an eclectic mix of stuff like jewelry, instruments, clothing, home items, and collectibles. I was interested in the art but it was jammed so tightly in the shelf I couldn't really see it. I think the most unusual item I saw was a ship's porthole. I heard the owners son tell a customer that they had even more things in the back and to come again when his father was back from his fishing trip. If you are looking for something specific it is probably just best to ask them about it. I didn't find anything but I had fun looking. The wife who was working was very sweet. Inventory changes based on what they purchase so you can check in to see new things.

Nothing was clearly marked for sale, yet the owner immediately came across as rude, dismissive, and hostile when basic questions were asked. The situation escalated unnecessarily, with the owner yelling not only at them but at other customers as well, and shouting, "You're in my house, get out." That is not how any legitimate business owner should ever treat paying or potential customers. The stress of the interaction was extremely overwhelming and completely avoidable. No one should be spoken to or treated like that in a retail setting.

It is next to…read morethe Presidente supermarket in the Towne Shoppes of Margate along 441 before Sample Rd if you are heading north. According to their website and name they donate proceeds to veterans. How much or what charities it does not specify. They accept your donations or you can shop their store. The inside is a bit cramped but I am convinced you can find gems if you really look. I quickly spotted some vintage Crestone Buttertree stoneware plates from Japan that have become very popular on Ebay and with collectors. They also had a few pieces of furniture, books, collectibles, household goods, toys, and a lot of clothing towards the back of the store. Prices on the few items I checked seemed very reasonable. There is a Family Thrift, Women in Distress, and Goodwill nearby so with this store you can have a nice little thrift outing. Thrifting helps the planet by reducing and reusing while also saving you money. In in this case it is helping veterans too.
