Hubby was off looking at clothes of all things. He actually found a great deal on a men's puffer jacket (Hawke & Co.) for $10! There were a couple of tiny tears around one elbow and I sewed the hanging nylon and with all the puffer action, you can't even tell I repaired it. He is very happy with his purchase! Since it was right before Halloween, we were looking at costumes, etc. I found a cute girls pumpkin dress and while I was there I sent a pic to my niece, but she already had something similar. They had everything arranged so nicely and the store was well lit. They had some very nice brand name clothing items and the prices were great! And, the best thing of all is that the proceeds from the store benefit the counseling and services available to patrons that need their help.

Basic secondhand clothing was priced at $20+, with other pieces reaching $40, $60, and beyond. Even the toys seemed significantly overpriced. At those prices, I would expect a much more organized store and a considerably better shopping experience. What frustrated me the most happened at the very end. I asked the manager for my receipt, and she told me it was already in my bag. I specifically asked her TWICE because I never saw her put a receipt in there, and both times she insisted that it was in the bag. It honestly made me feel like I was being treated as if I couldn't see what had just happened right in front of me. Before I even left the store, I stepped to the side and went through the few items in my bag myself. There was no receipt. After insisting twice that she had put it in there, she then had me take a picture of the receipt from a screen instead. That was incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. If you didn't put the receipt in my bag, just say that. Don't repeatedly tell a customer that you did when they're standing right there telling you they didn't receive it. I genuinely don't understand why this place was recommended to me. Between the poor customer service, lack of organization, excessive pricing for secondhand items, and the way the receipt situation was handled, I left extremely disappointed. Had the same exact experience on 2 other occasions when wanting to purchase an item; and then when I tried renting a booth and becoming a vendor. ZERO follow through. I enjoyed my visit and bought too much, lol. The store is massive -- more clothing and definitely more furniture, home decor, and housewares. If you are a book lover like me, you will appreciate the Diane Schoch Book Nook. The selection of adult and children's books was impressive. Lots of fiction, non-fiction, hardbacks, paperbacks, videos, etc, etc, etc. Everything in the store was organized and inviting, and the prices are competitive for our area. TIP: ACO has created a division inside the store called: Patricia Ann McGarity Volunteer Center. It offers wonderful opportunities for the community to help in many ways. Heads up for those of you trying to earn community service hours for scouts, scholarships, personal goals, etc. What's truly inspiring is how this store supports our local community. Donations go to needy families first (I'm not sure how you can enroll).
