I googled Goodwill... and was shocked to learn they're bringing boycotted for so many reasons that reflect badly on their integrity-- not just on the low quality of their stock. look it up!! OK--anyway, to close, the Bayville store is a low-class image of a Thrift store and, considering the junk on the sales floor, along with the ridiculous overpricing-- you have to wonder where the good donations are going... and where the so-called charitable service is being done, since they pay less than minimum wage and their high-up people make over half a million dollars per year. my opinion of Goodwill has plummeted... and I advise YOU to look online for your own information and benefit.

I've managed to find jewelry, a hat, linens, a belt, and everything in between that I wanted to buy, but didn't since I'm from San Diego and only have one suitcase. There is a back room where they have things with pink tags for half off I believe. Also, many of their prices have a markdown by date tag on them. Meaning, if this item doesn't sell by October 9th, it's 25% off. If it doesn't sell by November 9th, it's 50% off. I've never seen this tactic before and I think it's a pretty efficient one. Something that's above my budget would cause me to keep coming back to see if the item sold. In my top 3 thrift shops to go to for sure. You find genuine vintage items here you wouldn't anywhere else.

I can't speak for the housewares but the clothing was pretty much all under $5. Today they were running a 50% off promo on all clothing and shoes. You need to pay for any clothing before you head to the other side of the store and I think it was a $10 min for debit/credit cards.

The donations do have potental. First off if you see a cart grab it, there's no "formal" place to grab one and people just leave them everywhere. They have a limited supply to begin with. Secondly, if you don't like congestion, chaos, mayhem, screaming kids, rude customers don't step inside. You'll encounter all of the above. The children here are literally ferel, than you have the deliquent parents who try to parent by screaming across the store. Literally a boy was riding some sort of for sale scooter thing getting in everyone's way and screaming at the top of his lungs. No parent in sight. It's total noise pollution. The isles of clothes should be organized but aren't. Most are hanging off the hanger or on the floor, some racks are jammed packed so full you can hardly sort thru them. I didn't spend alot of time in this department but can imagine that their sorting process for weeding out stained items, etc is poor. The misc/housewares section is overloaded and overflowing unto the floor. The stuff is piled high on large kitchen metal racks, artwork is all over the floor. This area is totally congested with people, and you will need to dig and move stuff around, alot. Don't get me started on the toy department. It's where ferel children are left by parents who don't want to parent. I will say there is alot of stuff in the housewares, vintage and otherwise, just finding it, getting to it, and dealing with all the chaos around it makes it difficult. Oh, and the min price point at this Goodwill is $3.49. Single spoon? Yep, $3.49! The staff stand around and play on their phones and are of no assistance. I was really suprised at how unkept this Goodwill was, simplying because the area and surrounding thrift stores are the complete opposite.

To make matters... the employees are bringing stuff in making it more cramped. My bf and I look at the movies to buy but where they are set up is so cluttered with donations they keep bringing in that day. When I asked if we can move the donations or movies elsewhere, I was told in a rude tone..."where do you expect to put them?!?" I said how they should do the donations after the store closes (2pm) as it will be easier on the customers to shop. Again I was given a rude response, "you don't tell us how to run our business!" If they get donated any sense of organization and compassion my boyfriend and I will return. Till then, they won't be getting a penny from me. The money goes towards a program the church runs. Can't the church use its money to fund the programs? They make all that money yearly and pay 0 in taxes!
