There were books, media, beautiful pieces of furniture, rugs and loads of kitchenware and cookbooks. The clothes are only for men. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Prices were competitive with nearby thrift stores. There are also clean bathrooms and water fountains! The Mama Edna Project's Mission Statement: "To bring awareness of food insecurities as they exist among our most vulnerable populations, to gift it forward by honoring Mama Edna's legacy of feeding those who are hungry and to lift folks out of these insecurities by helping them thrive in all aspects of their lives to include helping them grow their own food when possible." A bit disconcerting, almost like a black Friday experience! Right when you walk in you see shoes and then a discounted clothing rack. There are so many racks of clothing! They also had a nice selection of books, artwork, and housewares. All of the employees (volunteers?) were very nice and welcoming and helpful. Truly one of the friendliest thrift stores I have been to. The only things I didn't like were how busy it was but it is awesome so I guess it's only fair that so many people love it. So I'm being a little selfish, yes, but here goes. I went to visit my daughters in college last month. Each of them have a new apartment that needs furnishing. They had specific things they were looking for and we had a limited amount of time. So I checked Yelp, mapped out all the thrift stores nearby, and we went looking. We ended up lastly at all things thrift. Walked in. It's arranged nicely. It smells good. If you're a thrift store shopper you know what I mean. What I'm assuming is a husband and wife team working there were very friendly and helpful. We ended up finding a chair and ottoman that we weren't looking for. But as soon as I sat in it, I realized one of my daughters needed to have it. The price was amazing, too low if you're asking me. And it wouldn't fit in my daughters car so we had a situation. We were also on a time crunch. The owner of the business offered to deliver it for us within the hour for a small fee, and we jumped on it and she was so kind and helpful. There was a couple that came in looking to sell some things on consignment. That is not what all things thrift does. They had some incredible deals and some awesome pieces. I even sent the owner the original price tag I had saved from my purchase as proof of what they had previously consigned it for. The starting consignment price was far below its original value, and since they receive half of the sale price, it seemed there was little incentive to price it fairly. When I went to pick it up, the table was buried under other items, covered in dust, with clear dust rings where things had been sitting for a long time. It's hard to sell furniture when it's hidden and dirty. Unfortunately, this experience showed me a lack of care for consigned items and for customers who trust them to represent their pieces well.
