I go for 1 item and I usually find the 1 and at least 3 or 4 things I didn't know I could use Great finds for holidays ,serving pieces of Over a period of 4 weeks I found tea cups for my grandaughters sweet 16 ,16 beautiful cups and saucers. 3 level serving pieces to put tea sandwiches on . We got here about 9:55 on Saturday morning and there was already a long line. They opened right at 10 and the line moved very quickly. A bit disconcerting, almost like a black Friday experience! Right when you walk in you see shoes and then a discounted clothing rack. There are so many racks of clothing! They also had a nice selection of books, artwork, and housewares. All of the employees (volunteers?) were very nice and welcoming and helpful. Truly one of the friendliest thrift stores I have been to. The only things I didn't like were how busy it was but it is awesome so I guess it's only fair that so many people love it. The other thing is that some items were ridiculously priced...I didn't see an overwhelming amount of this but enough that I thought to mention. Overall a fun place to shop! read more

This store has a lot of clothing for women, but look at the items carefully. Look for stains , sometimes hard to see, and rips. The clothes are not arranged by size, so plan to spend a lot of time searching. The prices here on everything has gone up a lot in the last year. I have seen several things that I could buy new for cheaper or the same price. Very sad that they are taking advantage of those of us who depend on thrift stores . Definitely not the best prices or organization of items. Other stores in the area are better. Cashiers are usually ok and the line moves quickly due to multiple cashiers available. read more

Theres such a long line to try on clothes that they give you one of those things that beep when it's your turn. They do have lots of good items and selection. Dorcas is definitely the TJ Maxx of thrift stores. Good reasonable prices. I can usually find something. Good selection. I don't like standing in line to get in and there are too many people to shop most of the time. Difficult to maneuver the aisles with the large shopping carts. read more

I wasn't thrilled with the cranky older ladies years ago and vowed to never to back. I did, 10years later, and am still not impressed. They are misleading/cheating in their selling practices. I bought 3 puzzles at several dollars each. They were marked on the boxes, "complete" but they were not. I bought a box of ankle weights, taped closed with a sticker on the side of the box that said tested or complete (I tossed it, so I don't remember). Inside were literally a few little sand bags! That was another 5.00 down the drain. Then I bought a stack of plates taped together. I THOUGHT since they were taped together they'd be a matching set. They were not! I bought a battery operated toy that said it was tested. It does not work. The prices on some things are crazy high, like some of the shoes, their "collectibles" and even bins of legos can be found cheaper elsewhere. I totaled up my losses and they came to 25.00 lost in junk due to their practices. I called, so upset and was told all sales are final but I can come in and volunteer if I want to sort puzzles! WHAT kind of response was that? I am baffled by all the people saying this place is so great. read more

We are avid thrift-ers and antique-ers, visiting from out of town. The thrifting in Raleigh overall is really not the best. Dorcas is probably the best place in town. It was very busy. Very picked over. Their prices tended to be high. We found one or two interesting things...but it was no bargain. I do check comps, and prices were equal to eBay prices. If you need to thrift, though, this is probably the best place in town. Otherwise, stick to the local antique stores. read more

I love Dorcas Ministries' charitable mission and donate here often. You can drive around back and, after the staff stationed there unloads your vehicle, you just drive off. Drive-by, convenient donation drop-off for a great cause! I have only shopped here once but found the large, well-organized store to be staffed by very friendly folks. The store was fairly crowded during my Tuesday lunch hour visit. I enjoyed the book section most of all (I am a huge book lover). I found a gem by a favorite author for 75 cents. This used to be a good store to buy bags, books and the occasional clothing piece from older brands which used to be of better quality than newer brands. Recently, some of my purchases have been duds. A Kate Spade handbag for which I paid $14, had a large yellow stain in one of the compartments, which wasn't visible in the warehouse lighting of the store. A Corningware casserole container with lid, cost $10, had some cutlery scratch marks and small chips at the rim. A white shirt of thick cotton (Villager brand) had bad yellowing behind the collar - my fault as I didn't check it. I ended up re-donating these items back, except for the shirt which was not usable at all. They need better quality control and slightly smaller numbers in the pricing, otherwise it continues being a quality store! read more

First time visiting this place. I wish we had one in CA as it's the best thrift store I've ever been to. Huge selection of clothing, furniture, knick knacks, misc items, and random house decor. It is very well organized, well lit, and the prices are very reasonable. (Hello....I got 6 barely worn brand-name golf shirts for $2.50 ea, among other bargains. I could've spent hours perusing the aisles but, I was mindful of my luggage restrictions. There are occasionally some gems hidden if you're willing to spend the time... But not always. There were clothes and shoes in shabby condition too. Knocked off 1 star because clothes are randomly hung on racks, not categorized by size and color. The employees were all nice. The lady at checkout was delightful and I was pleased with the service. read more

This is one of my favorite thrift shops in the area. The shop is always bustling with people. The racks and shelves are nicely organized with clothes by color and size, glasses, dining sets, crafts, books, and other neat treasures. They accept credit cards via square and everyone working there has been kind and friendly. They also have some furniture and if you can't find what you are looking for, try the Restore next door. Practicing social distancing means limited numbers are allowed to shop at a time. The wait is worth it! And the line moved fast for us on Black Friday afternoon. You are also asked to limit your shopping to one hour. Facemask are required and hand sanitizer is available at the entrance. Other Covid protocol includes arrows marking One Direction shopping. These arrows and directions were loosely followedyi-1 but face mask were worn by all shoppers except the very youngest. Dorcas Thrift Shop offers a wide variety of well organized quality used and some new items. You are greeted with a large display of holiday Decor from placemats, linens, flags, ornaments, candles, wreaths and more! The clothing is well organized by gender size, type and color. They offer a wide assortment of shoes and boots for children through adults. Many housewares, games, books, electronics, jewelry, sporting goods, and collectibles to choose from! And all for a good cause! Dorcus Ministries use store profits and donations to offer financial assistance for living expenses, a food pantry, training center, fee assistance for park and recreation programs, and the UNC Mobile Clinic.
