His wine recommendations and tasting guidance were spot-on, but what truly impressed me was how he explained why I disliked dry wines. He took the time to teach us about wine in a way that was engaging, approachable, and incredibly informative. I even found myself fact-checking a few of the things he shared afterward--and he was absolutely right! I left with a much better understanding of wine and a completely different appreciation for it. The wines themselves were outstanding. Every sample was thoughtfully selected, and we loved them so much that we ended up taking home three bottles. It's rare to find a winery where every recommendation feels like a winner, but Lake Fire nailed it. The winery itself is just as memorable as the wine. The atmosphere is trendy, upscale, elegant, and welcoming all at the same time. My favorite spot was the charming outdoor garden tucked behind the tasting room. Sitting in the sunshine with a glass of incredible wine while overlooking the water felt absolutely magical. Lake Fire Winery has created something truly special. Between the knowledgeable and passionate staff, award-winning wines, and one of the most beautiful waterfront settings in Door County, this was easily one of the highlights of our trip. We can't wait to come back--and we'll definitely be recommending it to everyone we know!

It's really cute on the inside, much smaller. It has some seating inside and a while outside section you can sit by the lake. Lots of yard games too, it's a neat spot. The wine wasn't my favorite, but maybe I just got the wrong kinds they had a lot of options as well as a few beers. Overall, fun and cute. They even had live music which was awesome!

The drinks were good, the service on the other hand not at all. From the second we walked in the lady was very rude, assuming we had been there before, annoyed with any question that was asked, and quite honestly the attitude on her face said it all. When you are out and about trying to enjoy the day and it gets ruined by how awful customer service is these days.. very sad.

Some of the more popular flavors are available for retail purchase in central and northern Wisconsin at stores like Trig's and several local liquor stores. During our visit we were offered a free wine tasting with an explantation of how the wine was made and some great pairing suggestions. This is a great place to visit & stock up on some unique gift ideas for all occasions. Plan to spend some extra time for tasting!

(50 golden stars if I could!)…read more Helioterra in Door County is a true gem, and Kim made my entire experience unforgettable. From the moment I walked in, she was warm, professional, and incredibly engaging. Her knowledge of the wines, vineyards, and stories behind each bottle brought the tasting to life in such a fun and approachable way. Kim has that rare talent of being both informative and entertaining--she answered every question with ease, tailored recommendations to my palate, and made me feel like a valued guest rather than just another visitor. The wines themselves are outstanding (the Pinot Noir and Mourvèdre were highlights), but it was Kim's passion and expertise that elevated the experience into something exceptional. The tasting room is cozy, stylish, and welcoming, with a beautiful lineup of Oregon-crafted wines not commonly found in the Midwest. Pair that with a thoughtfully curated cheese board, and you've got one of the best afternoons you can spend in Door County. If you're anywhere near Fish Creek, Helioterra is a must-visit--and do yourself a favor: ask for Kim. She's the heart of the experience and deserves not just 5 stars, but 50 golden ones.

We didn't really enjoy any of the ones in selection 2. We liked a couple in selection 4. We then tasted the strawberry rhubarb, cherry, and honey peach. They were all really, really sweet. We bought their rosé and Riesling, those were nice. So why not a better review? We spent about 15 minutes talking with the owner and he wouldn't make eye contact with me, only my husband. I finally walked away. It wasn't just me, my husband noticed, as well. Later he did tell us that women are 90% of his business. He may want to make women feel welcome then, because I certainly did not.

Much of the wine reflects the local harvest. Apples, pears, strawberries, rhubarb, and locally grown grapes are used to make wines that are truely Yooper. I ended up getting a bottle of the 4 berry wine. It has a perfect blend of strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries. I had a sample and was delightfully pleased with the balance between sweetness and tartness. FYI: they charge $5.00 for wine tasting. Next time in the area, I plan to get the strawberry rhubarb wine.
