I decided to have my great-grandfather's certificate of his Distinguished Service Cross re-framed. It's from 1919, and when my grandparents gave it to me, it was in a tattered old frame that eventually fell apart. As you may imagine, I was nervous to hand over something so precious! But Tanya was awesome. She was able to quote me a price that didn't break the bank (I'm a poor grad student, after all), turnaround time was super short, and the end product was so beautiful, it made me tear up! Have gotten two items custom framed here and been very happy with the results both times. First time she suggested double matting and I was so happy I went with her recommendation! This time I did the same. I don't have a creative eye so their input was so helpful. Absolutely love how recent one came out and was very happy with how she was able to flatten out the picture which had spent decades in a cardboard tube dried out and mishandled. read more

I used to think I was okay at art, décor, colors, you know -- artsy things. What I realized is that I am terrible at art, but that I have an eye for talent. Patty - co-owner at Three Trees Custom Framing -- has talent in abundance. We manage our former home as a vacation rental, for which Patty provided 98% of the artwork. And after guests check in, this is the feedback I get, consistently: "Your place is so much more awesome than I thought it would be, your pictures don't do it justice" [our spot] "is warm and inviting, and the art is gorgeous" "And how much is this piece" -- you know, like we run a gallery or something. ET--Cetera; I could go on. I really could. We exceed expectations before our guests remove their shoes. But what's amazing about Patty is not just her gifted work. It's the way she came to our rescue within 48 hours. I had been kicking around some ideas with Patty for a month leading up to our first booking, and was in full-blown panic one week prior. We had no art to speak of. Nothing. I've thought once or twice about why I left this critical detail to the last minute, but I guess it's like flying coach after first class. In any event, I needed to tie the place together. Urgently. This might not sound like a crisis, but try walking into a place with no art, and then try getting people to pay you for staying there. On day one of said panic, I dropped off pictures to our entire place - 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, 4 floors, 2000 square feet. On day three - ONE HOUR BEFORE GUESTS ARRIVED - Patty and her husband drove up with 26 of the-most perfect pieces for our home. Every space was gorgeously filled. Every piece tied into our "concepts" - stylistically and however else things can be tied together. I couldn't make this up. I will never get tired of hearing that moment of surprise when guests walk in and know they've made a good choice. I'm proud of the improvements we've made, but our home was a rental for a long long time, and we are still working to iron out the "rental" feel. It's not the home itself that's warm. It's the art. These days, I don't so much as paint a wall without enlisting Patty's opinion, and I will never make a décor decision without her again! read more

I live in Brooklyn and travel 3+ hours to get my stuff framed here. Not a joke. EXCELLENT service. Two examples (see photos): I brought them an illustration of Guanyin and had a very specific gold, crown molding look I wanted. They showed me several options, all less expensive than my specific demand. A few months later I brought them a VERY pink illustration and told them and the artist to pick whatever frame they liked. Working with the artist, they tried a dozen different ideas - different colors, sizes, etc. - before going with the brilliant idea of "doubling down on the Barbie pink." They even Pantone-checked it to ensure the two pinks were identical. Both pieces are jaw-droppingly impressive thanks to their work. They were very nice, knowledgeable and excited about working on these pieces. Their prices were very fair. I send EVERYONE I know looking for frames to them and continue to travel across three states just to get my stuff framed there. read more

We recently added a beautifully framed photograph of boathouse row circa 1913. Patty and Tanya are so knowledgable and artistic. They had a great set of frames to choose from and their turnaround time was very short. We have walked by their shop so often but it seems always in the evening after dinner so we never able to stop in. Don't make the same mistake. I used this frame shop years ago to frame a poser that was important to me - I'm not sure if it had real cash value. When I came to pick it up, the owner told me it had been 'stolen' from the sidewalk where she had put it for a minute when she was moving it from the shop. I asked her why she was moving it from the shop - she stuttered wildly but didn't offer a solution, didn't apologize. I didn't think to file a police report until much later - I was so busy and distracted by the recent loss of my Mother and flustered by the experience. All these years later, I still think of that incident and what these people got away with. read more

I was a bit embarrassed coming in with a cheapo IKEA frame and asking for a matting job on a poster. The ladies were so friendly and helpful that any hesitation faded away! They made the poster and frame look much classier than it deserved to. read more

We have had all our framing done by Patty and Tanya at Three Trees for at least 25 years. But a recent framing job encouraged me to write my first review. I recently purchased a very large oil painting (sofa sized) at the Rittenhouse Art Show and had it framed at Three Trees. The canvas was NOT square, but somehow they managed to frame it beautifully. Patty and Tanya not only have an artistic eye, they are technically superb and two of the nicest people you will ever meet. I can't recommend them highly enough. read more
