I got the BBQ chicken thighs with coleslaw and a side salad. They were moist and delicious, especially with the coleslaw. It was a good portion of food. I definitely could have taken some home. Read entire review. The peanut butter pie is phenomenal. I've had it on a few occasions, and each time has been consistently brag-worthy. I preordered this pie on the Monday prior to the weekend it was needed and the kind lady on the phone said she'd make it happen and it'd be $48. (Yes I know crazy expensive for a fancy pie but like I said it was a special occasion and always very tasty). Last summer it was $34, but like everything else in the world things go up. I understand. At pick up on Friday, I was immediately helped by a different kind lady at the counter. It's a small establishment. There were a couple of families eating but not crowded or busy. She went back to the freezer to grab it and a guy from the back said "ring it up as open food put it as pb pie $50." She came out handed it to me and did as he told her to do. After tax it came out to 55 and some change. I asked if she knew the reason for the price change from when I ordered on Monday to pickup on Friday and she answered honestly saying you know I don't know but I'd be happy to ask our owner about it (the guy in the back) she went back there and asked him about it. He rudely yelled at this poor employee "I said it's $50. Tell her She was told wrong!!" I was shocked by his response and tone. The lady was embarrassed and on the verge of tears. She apologized for his answer and asked if I heard all of it. I said yes and apologized for her having to be in the middle since he clearly wasn't coming out from the back. It wasn't about the $2. The pie is already too expensive, but it's the principle of kindness, respect for your employees and customers, and dignity to face things that come up as a business owner. I wasn't looking to get something for nothing. I could care less about $2 but just curious about another increase that clearly wasn't even in there register system because he had to tell her to put it in differently. I should have addressed him right then but after hearing him yell from the back I didn't want to disrupt the other families eating in there any more than they had been already by his attitude and yelling. I can't believe there aren't a ton of reviews for this place. Three Sam's is one of the few places I'm comfortable giving a 5 Star review. All of their food is great. The BBQ potato is outstanding and unlike any other you have seen. They also have 5 star desserts with amazing pie and cookies. We love their chocolate pie and coconut pie specifically. The food was good. I had the bbq beef platter with coke slaw and fries and was pleased with the quality of the food and taste. But the prices were about double that on the menu and my small beef sandwich was very small in amount of meat. And I would order differently if doing it after seeing what came out versus what I ordered. First I would if I were them delete the pictures of the menu and add with new prices. As it was a real sticker shock. Also the portions were nowhere near what the pictures indicate so I had real sticker shock and disappointment. I would order onion rings and loaded potato if I had to do it again and the special chicken and dumplings were very ample portions. At 10-11 dollars I would be very pleased with my order but it wasn't a 19 dollar lunch in my opinion. Loved the toasted bun but was very small and not at all loaded up. You get far more for your money at Corey's or fat boys or whole hog. Liked the atmosphere but it was crowded when I came in so I ordered to go. Everyone was nice. The loaded potato looked huge. The onion rings looked great. My meal of the beef brisket sandwich was skimpy...with fries and Cole slaw. If the prices were better or the sandwich not as skimpy I would have been pleased. Three Sams was my tenth 'cue stop in Arkansas. It is located about a mile south of I-30, in a small town a bit southwest of Little Rock. The ambiance calls to mind the small town diners of my youth, and the hours of operation (10:30-2 MO-FRI) also hint at the degree to which the restaurant serves the local community. The menu encompasses burgers and other non-BBQ staples, but there are several BBQ dishes to choose among. I ordered a regular beef sandwich with skin-on potato salad. I wanted onion rings, but alas they had no batter with which to make them. I also wanted to try the blackberry cobbler, but they were sold out; one of the waitresses did promise to set aside the last serving of peach cobbler, which she had baked earlier in the day! The beef is chopped, and came heavily sauced, so there was no noticeable smoke. Next time, I would ask for sauce on the side. The potato salad was tasty, but store bought; the peach cobbler needed more fruit to balance the light and airy cake, but it was homemade. And all of this came to $13.32, plus tip. So, is this great BBQ? No, the food was about average. But I'm really glad that I stopped by, and I would happily come again because BBQ's roots lie in the small towns, and I very much want this tradition to remain a vital and vibrant part of the American landscape. read more

OMG.... THIS PLACE IS A REAL HIDDEN GEM! I'm about 3 years living in Arkansas and I just about gave up all hope of finding some good BBQ that I could tell my friends and family about! I am so glad I was persistent about coming to try this place. I absolutely adore the character of the establishment, and it's literally located right next to the train tracks. lol. I have yet to be sitting in there when the train goes by. I will say I really appreciate how dedicated your restaurant manager is, she is absolutely wonderful, incredibly funny, and LOVE her honestly. On a recommendation from a coworker just off seeing his yummy looking pictures of his food I had to try this place out. I got the chopped pork sandwich with coleslaw on it and I substituted the chips it comes with for onion rings and I'm so glad I did. The onion rings have got to be my favorite for sure they're so fresh and seasoned so well. Also just to make everything so much better I got a brownie as well I think it was the double chocolate brownie omg now every time I come here it's a must I grab a brownie with my meal try it you won't regret it at all !!!! This was an amazing BBQ experience. I ordered the pig plate. The name describes the meat as well as the animal required to eat it all. It was massive. As I was making my way through it I heard all these people phoning the store to order Thanksgiving pies. I thought, this is odd, people buying pie from a BBQ place. The waitress told me the lady making pies is famous for her pies and they're delicious. So I ordered an immediate halt to meat consumption and switched to coconut pie mode. Righteous choice by me. Everything was wonderful. Not enough Yelp reviews for this place. It's nowhere near downtown so visitors wouldn't just wander in. A coworker from Little Rock steered me here. A hidden gem!!! This place is only open for lunch on weekdays but you need to try it! You go in and seat yourself and the service is very fast- the food is even better!!! Highly recommend the peanut butter pie - tastes like it was made with every ounce of love they have. I had the regular pork sandwich and it was cheap but a TON of food! Funky little shack...went around back and there was a dog guarding the smoker room door...blue collar crowd mainly with some business folks sprinkled in; great smoky flavor to the meats which you can only get from a well seasoned pit...thought the ribs were overdone - not burned but falling apart - but on the other hand one of the best bbq pork sandwiches I've ever had. Beans and slaw were amazing with unique, unanticipated flavors. Strawberry ice box pie the perfect finishing touch. We live 4 hours away and it was well worth the drive. read more

We got here smack dab in the middle of lunch hour and we were seated quickly. Tea was fresh and the food was delicious! The pies are out of this world. Lemon icebox was nice and tart and the peanut butter pie was piled high and topped with peanut halves and peanut butter cups. Highly recommended and we will be coming back. read more

My family loves Three Sams in Mabelvale so much that we try to plan our trips that way to make sure we have time for lunch. It was a regular every Friday with my Mother and for good reason. The BBQ pork is as good as you will find and the burger is the best my Mother ever ate (I really enjoy it, too). Honestly, I need to try other thing on the menu as they look wonderful but I enjoy the BBQ & burger so much. The desserts are sinfully good so plan your diet according Nguyen. And, be forewarned, like most great dining establishments, this place gets packed at lunchtime so get there early. Kudos to Sammy & his family who have a great little restaurant. Used to be a grocery store and built right next to a railroad track. Great little barbecue joint. I ordered the brisket sandwich which came w cole slaw on it and a tangy barbecue sauce. The bun was nothing too special but it was large, fresh, and white bread. The lunch came with baked beans that were incredibly thick and pretty good. The dessert was home made and looked delicious but I was way too full to order. The merengue pie looked divine. I'd love to come back here again sometime. read more

Good but not worthy of the hype it seems to get by all these people on social media. Maybe these people know the owner or people who work there and that's fine.
