Chopped beef sandwich, potatp salad, and chips
    John K E.

Three Sams was my tenth 'cue stop in Arkansas. It is located about a mile south of I-30, in a small town a bit southwest of Little Rock. The ambiance calls to mind the small town diners of my youth, and the hours of operation (10:30-2 MO-FRI) also hint at the degree to which the restaurant serves the local community. The menu encompasses burgers and other non-BBQ staples, but there are several BBQ dishes to choose among. I ordered a regular beef sandwich with skin-on potato salad. I wanted onion rings, but alas they had no batter with which to make them. I also wanted to try the blackberry cobbler, but they were sold out; one of the waitresses did promise to set aside the last serving of peach cobbler, which she had baked earlier in the day! The beef is chopped, and came heavily sauced, so there was no noticeable smoke. Next time, I would ask for sauce on the side. The potato salad was tasty, but store bought; the peach cobbler needed more fruit to balance the light and airy cake, but it was homemade. And all of this came to $13.32, plus tip. So, is this great BBQ? No, the food was about average. But I'm really glad that I stopped by, and I would happily come again because BBQ's roots lie in the small towns, and I very much want this tradition to remain a vital and vibrant part of the American landscape.

This was an amazing BBQ experience. I ordered the pig plate. The name describes the meat as well as the animal required to eat it all. It was massive. As I was making my way through it I heard all these people phoning the store to order Thanksgiving pies. I thought, this is odd, people buying pie from a BBQ place. The waitress told me the lady making pies is famous for her pies and they're delicious. So I ordered an immediate halt to meat consumption and switched to coconut pie mode. Righteous choice by me. Everything was wonderful. Not enough Yelp reviews for this place. It's nowhere near downtown so visitors wouldn't just wander in. A coworker from Little Rock steered me here. For that, I will be forever indebted. Best BBQ I ever had, hard to say, but can't think of better either. Yep. It's that good

So amazing! The prices and taste. It was busy and the man at the register was still nice. This is the loaded potato

Small place but amazing food! The customers always look at me funny cause I'm black! But that doesn't bother me because my food comes out great every time I go and try something!

A hidden gem!!! This place is only open for lunch on weekdays but you need to try it! You go in and seat yourself and the service is very fast- the food is even better!!! Highly recommend the peanut butter pie - tastes like it was made with every ounce of love they have. I had the regular pork sandwich and it was cheap but a TON of food! Didn't get to try the onion rings but they looked delicious so I will be back to try them!

Funky little shack...went around back and there was a dog guarding the smoker room door...blue collar crowd mainly with some business folks sprinkled in; great smoky flavor to the meats which you can only get from a well seasoned pit...thought the ribs were overdone - not burned but falling apart - but on the other hand one of the best bbq pork sandwiches I've ever had. Beans and slaw were amazing with unique, unanticipated flavors. Strawberry ice box pie the perfect finishing touch. We live 4 hours away and it was well worth the drive.

Hot cheeseburger and a mountain of fries!

The food and service is outstanding. Best chili dogs in town. Another speciality is the Bar-b-Que Baked Potato.

Regardless if we go to one Hot Springs or Little Rock we've come to expect the same quality meals (endless fries, btw), great service and family atmosphere. My wife and I each got single beef combo (burger, fries and small drink) $9.49 each. I added jalapeños and American cheese to mine (added $0.90). The service level is outstanding ... an employee saw me working my way to the front door and she hustled to beat me and held the door open for us. With 1950s and 60s rock n roll and occasional Dean Martin, etc, it sets the atmosphere just right for the soda pop shop ambience. We will return again, I'm sure. It's our favorite hamburger joint in the region , so far.

For a fast food spot, this felt rare. They opened the door for me. Every employee said welcome. They checked on me during the meal, refilled my drink, and stayed engaged. You could tell they cared about the place and the people eating there. The restaurant itself had a cool vibe. I did not expect to see quality looking steaks for sale to take home. Nice bonus. Cleanliness needs work. Tables had salt and stains. Floors needed a quick sweep. Nothing extreme, but easy fixes. Now the food. Order was a double cheeseburger, fries, and drink. $17.11 total. About 8 minutes from order to food. Fries 6/10. They cut their own fries, which already puts them ahead of most places using frozen stuff. Problem was consistency. Some crispy, some soft, some seasoned, some bland. I watched them cook and they were frying massive batches in a huge bowl. Smaller batches would fix almost every issue. Burger 7/10. Perfectly seasoned, which is rare for fast food. Hot, flavorful, and satisfying. Only downside was dryness. With a little more moisture, this burger would punch way above its weight. After I finished, they offered me a free ice cream. No reason. Just a nice gesture. Bottom line. Great service. Solid burger. Easy fixes on cleanliness and fries. Worth stopping, and worth bringing the family. I will be back.

We got seated by our waitress, Amethyst, and I ask if they would turn the music down a few notches. She said no! She couldn't. I thought she was kidding but she wasn't. She said that Management was coming in anytime today and they are very specific about the decibel levels for sound that must be open to close. I told her that we were here last week and it wasn't nearly this loud. She attempted to assure me that it was (it wasn't). I told her I wanted to speak to management if they are here before we leave. I got mixed feelings from her about whether or not she would pass the word. This has been crazy and I know that I was not being unreasonable. My wife has fibromyalgia and loud noises are very hard on her but she somehow tolerated it. I have to add that Amethyst lacks a cheerful attitude. Maybe it's a bad day for her starting from my request to turn down the music (her attitude was , shall we say snotty) to bringing out the orders and she kind of came off annoyed that I had to ask for a separate plate to place our bones in. She was very attentive when it was time to pay though. She brought to-go cups of water and was cheerful. The wings were good, as expected, though. Compliments to the chef.

The two of us were seated quickly by our waitress. Ordered a beer and Dr. pepper. First round of drinks came quick. After that...nothing but downhill. We ordered cheese sticks and before our waitress got to the kitchen, she had to come back and ask us again what we ordered...so we again said cheese sticks. After about 25-30 mins, those arrived. During this time, NO ONE approached our table to check on us. My beer was dry by now and my daughter's soda was 3/4ths gone and the rest watered down. Finally cheese sticks arrived and we asked for refills. My daughter never got hers after also asking for one when our food came. My beer took 15 mins and was delivered by the bartender... Our food was a burger and waffle fries and chicken strips/wings combo. Burger was the only edible food. The waffle fries were so salty, as well as the wings...that they burned your mouth. The chicken strips were not fully cooked, I realized this after eating one...the second one tasted strange so I pulled it and the 3rd one apart and it was still pink/iridescent. We saw our server twice in about an hour and a half. When she brought my ticket, I told her the chicken was undercooked and she simply said, "I'm sorry." Stay away, there are better quality and better serviced restaurants in the area. Keep your money!

The crawfish Mac and cheese was tasty, the only reason the clown was lenient! My wife ordered the blackened catfish and was pleased, taste was good, a tad pricey in the clowns opinion.
