Three Rivers Vets are all about seeing how much money they can take from you. It's as they have…read morebeen saying on TV and other news articles, vets that are part of a big group charge way more than independent vets. I had all three of my dogs with them, one puppy and two much older dogs. My Gordon Setter (one of the older dogs) has a weak bladder and so has to take Propalin for this. The vets charge £90 for 100ml, give or take a pound, but it sells online at Animed for £29. Obviously I get it online so need the vets to write me a prescription. I phoned Three Rivers to get this and was told my dog hadn't been seen by the vet for awhile so needed to book an appointment to see the vet before they would issue one (I appreciate this is normal with all vets that they have to have seen them within 6 months). I asked if this would be a full appointment (I was registered to a vets in Nottingham when I was there and they would charge a small nominal charge for this) to which I was told it would be. So to get the repeat prescription I would have to pay them £60 for the appointment and £30 for the prescription. I then phoned Kessingland Vets which are just down the road (and they have parking, where as Three Rivers you have to try and find a space on a busy road to park) from Three Rivers and they would charge £19.50 for a short vet consultation and £15 for the prescription.. that's a difference of £55.50! I decided to move all three dogs to Kessingland Vets. I canceled all upcoming appointments and I wanted to cancel my puppies pet plan as well. They said I had to pay the last two months installments if I wanted to cancel. I said that I had worm and flea tablets owed then as they were due. They refused to give them to me even though I was paying for them. I ended up leaving my puppy registered with them for the next month and then moved her after I had received her tablets. I also had her spaying op done at the new vets as it was cheaper there even without the pet plan discount, plus Three Rivers were trying to upsell so many extras that weren't really needed which would have cost a few hundred pounds more. I certainly wouldn't recommend Three Rivers Vet group to any one and I would urge anyone registered with them to check the price difference with other local vets that aren't part of a large private equity group.

My beautiful dog was put to sleep on Thursday. This was because she had a womb infection -…read morePyometra, which had become too advanced to treat. Her uterus was full of pus which was slowly leaking into her tummy. She was taken to our vets (Kessingland branch of Three Rivers) 2 days running and misdiagnosed on both occasions with 2 different reasons as to what was wrong, and this was by 2 different vets. One of whom was the senior vet and one of these appointments was an emergency appointment at night. As a result of their incompetence her last days would have been agony for her. On the 3rd day I went in without her to discuss her symptons with a 3rd different vet. She was going downhill fast. On the 4th day running she was taken to a totally different vets practice who instantly picked up what was wrong and scanned her to confirm it. By then it was so advanced that the kindest thing to do was to put her to sleep. It has nearly destroyed myself, husband and the kids. My baby suffered needlessly because of the incompetence at the hands of one branch of vets and as a result had to be put to sleep. Had this have been picked up on her 1st visit to that vet things may have been very different now. I have complained to Three Rivers vets and been told by the exceptionally rude clinical director - that the vets there did nothing wrong and diagnosed her correctly on each occasion. The diagnosis on the 1st visit was Arthritis. On the 2nd visit apparantly she had reacted to the painkiller from the day before, and the 3rd visit they decided she had worms. Not once despite now discovering she had classic textbook sypmtons did they pick the Pyometra up, or offer to scan, xray her or do blood tests. I had never had Coco spayed as instead had my boy dogs neutered. This was based on their advice also!! So if anyone uses or is considering using Three rivers vets please please think carefully and remember our story.
