I recently took my 5 year old cat to be seen at this surgery due the fact that my partner and I had noticed patches of excessive fur loss around her head, and had found somewhere in the region of 20-25 loose whiskers around the house over the course of a few weeks.
Our initial impression was much the same as the previous reviewers - rude, uncaring reception staff. This however was nowhere near as concerning as the attitude of the vet himself.
After explaining our cats symptoms, we were told that the fur loss around the ears was normal (although the vet then admitted he had never seen a cat with quite so much baldness around the ears) and that cats do not loose their whiskers! When we asserted once more that we had recently found several, his tone became outright rude and we were told again our cat was perfectly healthy.
Despite this diagnosis the vet then proceeded, without explanation, to administer an anti-biotic shot, and also what I think he said was a booster of some kind. As soon as this was done we were more or less kicked out of the office and asked to pay for the treatment of our apparently healthy cat! The whole experience was rather confusing. I left with more questions than I went in with and was almost £70 out of pocket.
As it turns out the cat was fine, and has since stopped the shedding of fur and whiskers, so at least the vet didn't miss anything, but it would have been nice to at least get an explanation for what could have been happening at the time, and if indeed it was nothing, an explanation for the shots we paid for. read more
