I just needed a filter for the engine. I gave the make/model/year and they rang me up for the filter. I didn't bother asking them, instead I just changed the filter right there in the parking lot. Speaking of which, there is plenty of parking available.

For example, they've diagnosed problems and risks before the local dealers have and didn't do any pressure sales. Just a heads up and watch item, with occasional suggestions about what to do, even including DIY options. More recently I had an adaptive headlight fail. Where the dealer would have wanted a full new OEM replacement at their labor rates, James and team took a lot of time and care to identify the root cause, isolated the issue, and found quality used parts to use and saved me thousands in the process. And they were giving almost daily updates on their progress and findings. Great group of folks. Sure, you can get some strong performance additions from the shop and no doubt they're great at it, but don't overlook them for fixes and other needs. You'd be selling you and your BMW short!

I was given really good advice and he took care of my truck's immediate needs. He found the transmission to be in better shape than I originally thought. The issues I knew that existed were easily explained away. He did give me a quote if for any reason I wanted to have it rebuilt. It's always good to have options. I bought fuel tank and related parts from a reputable classic car parts site. Carl installed it for me. Along the way, he found out why I had issues with the original fuel system and he took time to explain 1970's fuel system engineering and why they did things the way they did back then. His explanations helped me feel comfortable with my decision to replace it. The last issue was with my carburetor. I'm not a carburetor guy and don't like messing with them too much because I'm always afraid of messing them up. The carburetor issue was as follows, when the truck is in gear and my foot on the brake, the engine was vibrate real rough. I knew it was a tuning issue but I'd rather leave it to carburetor experts, like Carl. He tuned it to perfection. Now the engine performs like a champ. My hats off to Carl and his team at Drake Auto. D&V has been the go to shop for my fleet of work trucks as well as my multiple project vehicles over the years and I have nothing but good things to say about their attention to detail and integrity. The most recent project they completed for me was a complete repaint of my 1991 Nissan Skyline in which they replaced the left rear quarter panel, both rocker panels and addressed various other locations in which rust had started to spread. It took right around a year which was to be expected for a project of this scope and my car looks incredible. Every panel was properly stripped, prepped and painted. The finish is consistent across the entire body, even the engine bay and trunk. The entire time my car was there the whole team was very communicative and kept me in the loop anytime they encountered something that required my opinion or additional parts/labor. There isn't another shop in the DMV that I'd trust my projects to.

Charged me over 1100 to paint two small trim pieces and paste onto the doors. Wanted 550 upfront. Sent me the bill on Friday, and by Monday morning gave me the "payment overdue" notice. I should've stopped there. But went for it due to past experiences. The car came out worse than it went in. Paint had tiny dents along the edges, most likely due to poor prep. They can't seem to find the door's edge for a simple alignment. One side gap was so large I can put my hand into it. Even worse? Someone decided to spray tire shine as part of the clean up, but didn't bother to properly apply to the tires. They just sprayed a few spots on the tires and let it drip. So the oil and grease in the tire shine flowed unto all four wheels. My wheels are anodized, so the grease permanently tarnished the wheels, leaving them with unsightly streaks that can't be washed off. And believe me, I tried. Bottom line: overpriced mediocre work and overall lack of care that caused more problems than solutions. Hopefully you'll have more luck, but I'm done with them. Very disappointed that it has to come to this, but this is not the shop I used to know.

Gave them a call and was able to come right in and get the service done. The calibration didn't last too long and before I knew it, I got the calibration paperwork i-hand and notarized. The Staff: The staff were friendly. On the phone, I explained what I needed and they gave me a quote and it was true to their word. After my calibration, they gave me the paperwork and I paid what was discussed over the phone. Everyone was nice and straight when it came down to the service and pricing. Overall, a very good experience with Advanced Automotive in regards to a speedometer calibration. Prices are fair and work is good. Highly recommend.
