I've stopped off for a snack or a quick drink a couple of times, and it's always really impressed me, and the lunch my parents and I had recently ranks as one of the best pub dinners the Andrews family can remember. Their crab sandwiches were fresh, as were the fish in their delicious creamy leek fish stew, while the ploughmans was huge. Desserts of chocolate and pecan brownie and banana fritters with toffee sauce were gobbled up. Ok, it's not cheap for a Devon pub, but the food is worth every penny - there was hardly anything on the menu I didn't want to scoff down. The pub itself is a charming sprawl of wooden rooms, and a small seating area out the front. It's homely and although the staff run a slick operation, they're still friendly and helpful. The pub was recently taken over by St Austell Brewery, so there's a good range of their beers, plus a couple of guest ales. This includes one local beer brewed in Branscombe. It's quaint, delicious, comfy and sits in one of the most stunning areas of the Devon coast. It is, quite simply, a perfect pub.

I remember looking longingly at the outdoor patio and what could only be barbeque equipment cloaked under plastic cover before entering the pub. If only the weather was nicer, I am sure the place would be buzzing with people drooling over the grill. Although we didn't arrive until 2:15pm after a wet and windy walk at the nearby Seatown, the staff cheerfully accepted our order (their last food order for lunch is 2:30pm). My boyfriend had the venison burger, I had the Chideock Scotch egg, and my friend had the goat cheese salad. Everything was prepared with great care and perfectly seasoned. It was fantastic value for money too, with the bill coming in just under £30 for three people with some food and a drink each. I highly recommend a quick (or slow!) bite here for those in the area.

This quint picturesque location sits on the western Atlantic seacoast of the island. with two boat docks and a cool breeze coming off the water, this spot will definitely become a favorite in your list. My sister and i decided to get away from the main tourist area and saught a nice local establishment while on Cayman. Just a few minutes west from the main area, but taxis and hotel transports will shuttle if you wish. I ordered the 'catch of the day' snapper- grilled with a light butter and lemon sauce. I added the lobster tail to accompany the selection. The entree sits on a fresh serving of roasted potatoes and vegetables which had a light butter sauce. The flavor was on point, and lacked nothing for taste. The fish was grilled crispy yet flakey and delicate inside. It was awesome. For dessert we split a Cayman Lime pie (their version of Key Lime). It ranked top 3 in my list of key lime desserts. Price was on the high-end so keep that in mind- You have to pay for quality. In this case it was well worth the price.
