Came here with four of my girlfriends while visiting Chicago for a girls trip. The place itself is definitely cute and has a fun, themed vibe but unfortunately, it didn't live up to our expectations. The lighting was very dark, which made it hard to even read the menu comfortably. Speaking of the menu, it wasn't all that appealing to us, and we ended up just ordering a few appetizers which sadly went mostly untouched. They just didn't hit the mark in terms of flavor or presentation. We were excited about the drinks, especially with them being served in fun Hawaiian tiki-style cups, but the taste didn't match the aesthetic. None of us really enjoyed them. On a positive note, our server was friendly and welcoming, which we appreciated. However, we didn't end up staying long. This just wasn't the vibe we were looking for, and overall, it wasn't one of our favorite stops on the trip. Cute idea, but unfortunately, the experience didn't follow through. read more

I love a speakeasy that actually a speakeasy! Recently went to one in Pittsburgh that was just a restaurant on the basement floor *rolls eyes* but that's a different story for the different time. This space, who's entrance is in a back alley, is very cute! It's dark in lighting but brightly colored and completely decked out in the tropical theme. We didn't have a reservation (which is highly recommended on the website) so we ponied up to a ledge but knew that we were only staying for one cocktail. The cocktails match the tiki theme which I don't love in general because they're typically too sweet. However, the ones we ordered we're fairly well balanced and obviously aesthetically pleasing. If you're on the town with your girls, this is definitely a cute spot to add to the evening itinerary. read more

This is one of my favorite Tiki bars. I've sat at the bar a few times and also had a table of a few others. It is a bit pricey, BUT the ambience is really cool. The entrance is in an alley behind a bar. Very unassuming. Then you take the stairs down into the bar/restaurant. The drinks were delicious and came in super fun Tiki cups/glasses/etc. (those are for purchase to take home if you want). The bartenders are very friendly and welcoming. Overall, staff were pretty great! My friends and I have gotten food here too, and it was really good. We shared a bunch of appetizers. I highly recommend checking this place out if you haven't already! read more

Was seated at the bar in the bamboo room, which was a cool speak easy like side room with a more intimate feel and allowed you to chat with the bar tender and see the drinks made. My friend was doing non alcoholic and they had two great options and the bartender noted he could do others for her off menu. Was a little sad that my highball was a premade drink poured from a two liter because I wanted the flair, but it was so delicious I got two. We also got the waffle fry app and the fries unfortunately came out cold but they were still crispy and the seasonings and dips were all very tasty! read more

We were a party of 15 and the service was fantastic. The drinks were strong, served in such fun glasses with really great floral and fruit accents, and the Loaded Luau Cheese Fries (Cheddar, Kimchi, Teriyaki, Spicy Mayo, Furikake, Crispy Onions) was DELICIOUS. We also enjoyed the Shrimp Spring Roll Sticks. A great find and I look forward to hearing back in spring. read more

Amazing spot and a must-visit if in Chicago. We stopped in at 8 on a Saturday which seemed like absolutely perfect timing. Soon as we got in, way more people started showing up and if we were 60-90 seconds later we would not had gotten lucky grabbing a table. I went with a painkiller which was sooooo good. Did not expect it to be blended/frozen but it was so yummy. My girlfriend tried a "three dots and a dash" which was also good but not as much on the sweet/fruity side. It was a bit stronger too. The drinks are nice and strong here so you definitely get your money's worth. We tried the waffle fries and the firecracker popcorn chicken. Fries were good. The popcorn chicken is like an 8 out of 10 on spicy-ness that crawls up on you. The first few bites you're thinking "this isn't spicy at all" and then 5 minutes later, bam, whole mouth is burning. Thankfully, theres those frozen cocktails... Three Dots and a Dash is a bit pricy but something you've gotta experience at least once. read more

OMG this place is a MUST GO. Their decor and ambiance is sooo cool, drinks are well crafted and they give you a good amount. They had St. Lucian rums which you do not find in many places so that was a great treat for me! We also ended up snagging a table and ordering some bites (firecracker chicken and steak skewers not pictured) which were delicious. The bartenders were great but our server ended up disappearing after our food came, unsure what happened there. read more

No ifs, ands, or buts about it, the vibes are awesome! The music from a live DJ keeps the atmosphere lively, yet isn't deafening. The quantity of people is kept controlled so you're not facing a crowd 5 people deep. The decor, drinks, and lighting all transport you to a bona fide Tiki bar somewhere. For drinks, the whole menu is tropical through and through, the combinations, names, and drinks are all unique and creative. Even the Old Fashioned has a fun tropical twist. I ordered the namesake "Three Dots and a Dash". A great combination of orange, rum, and spice! Alas, food was not the highlight of the evening. I ordered the Crab Rangoons. While I appreciate the noticeable crab flavors, the filling was otherwise on the bland side. Furthermore, the dough lacked any kind of crispiness. Finally, big props for the service - it was quick, friendly, and attentive, despite being fairly busy! Thus, what "V" ("...-" in Morse) lacks in food, they make up for in everything else. If Yelp allowed half stars, it would round to a 4.5, but as things are, 5 shiny stars it is! read more

This is kind of a meme bar. The entrance is kind of hidden in the alley to make it look like a speakeasy. The bar was totally packed, but everyone was standing around so we found a table right away. Everyone here was drinking one of the specialty cocktails and taking selfies so that's the type of place it is. The thing is, though, the drinks are really good. So if you can get past the wannabe influencers, then come for the cocktails. read more

It's not too often you order a "sampler" platter and everything taste good but this was one of those exceptions. The shrimp spring rolls were the best thing on the platter and the pork was a close second. I wasn't a huge fan of what was on top of the guac but the chips were fresh and once I slid off the top it was fine. The bar tenders gave great service and seemed super knowledgeable about the drinks. (I hate when bar tenders need to use a recipe book.) For a Sunday night the restaurant was pretty cozy, I was able to sit at the bar with no problem. read more

I love Three Dots & a Dash!! First time I came with friends during a visit to Chicago, we were pleasantly surprised with this amazing hidden venue. This second visit, we came again and the drinks were absolutely amazing. The presentation, service, and ambiance is always a 10/10!! I had the painkiller and also shared the zombie for 2, both were delicious and came with adorable decor. The zombie for two came with a small show lighting it on fire! My friends had the Three Dots & a Dash, and the Toasted Coconut Chi Chi, all of which were also presented with fun decor, and had amazing flavor profiles. I visited on a Monday night in May when in town for a convention with husband in tow. Apparently everyone else had the same idea because the place was packed. Even though we had a reservation for 8:45pm, we had to wait a few minutes to be seated and then were placed at a miniscule table surrounded by loud, standing-room crowds, making conversation difficult. Getting a server's attention was also tough initially but once the first round came those tiki drinks made my stresses melt away. First order was a 44 Mai Tai and an off-menu Singapore Sling, followed by a Pearl Diver and Three Dots and a Dash -- all well-executed and served in unique vessels with typically tropical garnishes. While we enjoyed our drinks, the noisy environment made it hard to fully relax; it felt less like a getaway and more like a pre-convention mixer. Maybe on a different night or at a different time with a different crowd, I'd have enjoyed the experience more. Total bill was $75 for four drinks, so not a cheap date. But I'm still glad I checked it off my "must try" list. read more

By far the cleanest back way entrance I've ever seen. This place is definitely big but crammed, but for a good reason! This has to be the cutest speakeasy that I've been to! Tucked away in alleyway, you could tell this place was popular as there was a line to get in. When I did get in it was really dark inside with the exception of the neon lit staircase (with skulls lol) and the bar. All of the drinks were tiki style and tasty. The male bartender with the curly hair was amazing!!!!! 10/10 experience. read more

This is such a cute place in Chicago! I think it's worth adding to your Chicago stop list. It's more so a pre game place. It was super packed and we waited in line to get in. They take reservations also which I recommend if you want a table! Other than that it's standing around the bar which is tight. Also this place is very very dark and dim so bring a camera light or turn on the flash for photos! The drinks are very refreshing and good! Stopped by this bar on a quieter night, but still had to wait only about 10 minutes before we could head inside. Definitely love the 'secret' vibe of this place. Once you are inside, it definitely feels like you're in a movie set! Very spacious and so well decorated. The drinks are also so done up. The group I was with did mention that the drinks were a bit on the sweeter side. What was nice was that it wasn't overly loud, so you could still have normal conversations with the group you were with. Very fun! read more

Loved it, found this place totally on accident while visiting Chicago and it officially turned me into a Tiki Bar diehard. I now seek them out all around the US when I travel, and come equipped with the silly button up shirt for the occasion. I always leave with a signature mug to look back on the memories later. Three Dots will always hold a special place in my heart, and major shout out to them for their food as well, I wish I had more pictures of all the things my wife and I have eaten here... The drinks are fantastic, the ambiance is fun, and the food absolutely adds to the experience. This is the first place I learned of "Likioki Mustard" and now it's a staple when I am crafting island bbq at home. Highly recommend the Prime Skirt Steak Skewers, the Thai Fried Chicken, the Spring Rolls, and the Mahi Mahi Tacos. If you are feeling wild, go with the full Pu Pu Platter and you will have something to absolutely keep the party rolling between expertly crafted island cocktails. read more

Stepping into Three Dots and a Dash felt like an instant vacation. The tiki bar theme was fun and even the bathroom is giving island getaway. I had the Aloha Felicia and the Shotsapus, and my partner got the Jet Pilot. The Aloha Felicia was creamy and smooth, and the Shotsapus was such a fun, unique experience. My partner loved the Jet Pilot and said it hit perfectly without being too strong. Service was great. Our bartender was super friendly, and drinks came out fast with almost no wait. Went for a nightcap here and it was really packed. You can come for the bar, but it is standing room only. The dirnks are expensive and I feel like mostly full of ice. I liked the atmopsher, but if I came here for a reservation I would not like it becuae everyone standing at the bar are right on top of you. I have never been so underwhelmed by an over-hyped place before. This place just isn't what it's made out to be. Everyone I know and their sister recommended this place before my trip to Chicago, so obviously I had to get a reservation. And the hard-to-get reservations add to the intrigue of the place. But that intrigue quickly becomes boredom, which turns into anger and regret once you are in this place. Food & Drinks: We didn't have a chance to try much food, but the Thai fried chicken was okay. The drinks were nothing new or creative, felt like something you'd get at any other tiki style bar in teh next town over. Service: The waiter left us alone for long periods, so we couldn't order as we wanted, but whenever they did visit us it felt like they were in a hurry. We also felt neglected and rushed at the same time, I don't know how they achieve that. In-all: Chicago is a big city with many far better, even exceptional bars, get a reservation at one of those instead of this wannabe cool and mystical speakeasy that offers absolutely nothing but a wall of skulls you can take a photo against. Do not waste your time if you claim that you like to go to bars with creative cocktails, or you value your time. read more

Such a tourist attraction with the cost of the drinks. We stopped in around 9pm and highly recommend making reservations. The bar was super crowded and the wait outside in the alley was a vibe. The bartender was nice and quick with the drinks. Make sure to read the menu because the non-alcoholic drink was not labeled and adding alcohol, you get double charged. The Coconut ChiChi was small but cute. A lot of people around us was ordering the octopus shots. read more

I reserved a table for eight people to celebrate my birthday, however when I arrived the host attempted to seat my guest and I in a booth for four people. When I asked if I could have a seating area that would accommodate my entire party, I was told that the more spacious areas were reserved for other guest as if I did not make a reservation. There was a large area with three tables adjacent to the tiny booth my party was offered with two couples comfortably occupying the space, yet my party was being subjected to being crammed in this small space that barely sat four people. After several request to have my reservation honored, we were finally seated on the opposite side of the establishment in an area similar to the spacious area I saw the two couples dining at. The waitress from the other side of the restaurant explained that she would get us started with our drink orders and our waitress would finish out the order. Our waitress, Savannah, which she neglected to willfully provide us with her name, did not arrive until twenty minutes after the other waitress left and her service was horrendous to say the least. Savannah had a thirty minute gap time for when she came to the table to check on us and she was in a rush when she did. At first I thought her behavior was due to it being crowded, but after close observation I learned that she was only tending to three tables and she was very attentive to those guest. The final straw was when it took her forty-five minutes to come back without the missing items to our order as she sought to go and get once we pointed out it was missing. After speaking with the manager regarding the experience, Savannah suddenly became overly attentive, however it was too little to late my party and I experience was tainted and I was robbed of the great experience I set out to have for my birthday. Despite the seating mishap and the lacking service provided by Savannah, there were some bright spots in my experience. Gio brought out our food order and he was excellent. He provided above and beyond service with a warmth and smile that made my party and I comfortable enough to continue dining there, so much so we spent close to $500. I looooved the atmosphere! I took a bachelorette party here, and the girls were super impressed by the "underground" speakeasy type of vibe they had going on. Walking down the alley and looking for the blue door was super cool, and the decor was amazing. I had been planning this trip for a long time and was excited about ordering some of their group drinks. We decided on the Zombie (for 7 of us) and it came out in fire with amazing presentation! We were off to a great start.... until we tasted it. We are all fairly big drinkers, but the taste of this drink was so incredibly strong it was disgusting. None of us could stomach it. Our waitress never came back by the table to check on us, so one of the girls ordered some Sprite up at the bar to try to pour it to make it more palatable. Unfortunately, it didn't help much. Finally, someone flagged down our waitress and we ordered another Sprite which still didn't help. This drink was just hopeless. We ended up leaving our (at this point with the edition of bottled Sprite) $80 drink on the table. My girlfriend also ordered a tequila shot, and it came out with no salt or lime. When she flagged the waitress down she asked for both, to which our waitress snottily replied "Sorry, we don't do training wheels here". She insisted they didn't have salt in the restaurant. I'm sorry, but you serve food. You do have salt. You can't tell me they don't have salt in the entire place!?! She simply refused to bring it out. I thought that was crazy. Our tab SO FAR is $100 and you can't bring out a shaker of salt. At this point, it didn't even need to be a shaker- it could have been a sprinkle of sea salt from the kitchen in napkin and we would've been happy! So we stayed for about 30 minutes total and left our expensive drink there. It actually broke my heart a little, since I was sooo looking forward to partying the night away at 3 Dots! First off, if it's not super busy and thus there's no line outside, Three Dots and a Dash can be pretty hard to find. Actually, even if there is the normal line it's a bit tricky. Located in an alleyway off of Hubbard, Three Dots is a speakeasy-like tiki bar that is a haven for island wear in the cold Chicago winter. Look for the velvet queue barricades and across from those is the door. This place is super super fun, but if you don't make a reservation or come early, it's going to be packed and you're going to have to stand until you can swoop into an opening bar seat. Which isn't the worst thing in the world, except the drinks come in these awesome cups that are pretty heavy/uncomfortable to hold however cute they are. To give you an idea of how creative they get with presentation, one drink has a banana that looks like a dolphin with a cherry in it's mouth. Don't believe me? I got photo evidence. The drinks are fresh, fun, and super yummy. I'm into rum but my boyfriend is a whiskey guy whose motto is "the bitter the better" and both of us found multiple somethings we loved. I got the Dr. Funkhouser and the Dead Reckoning, he got the Poipu Beach Boogie Board and Jet Pilot. They were *highly* potent. You can also get punch bowls to share. The staff may be the only bartenders I ever met who seem like they are ENJOYING what they are doing. Actually, I know he was enjoying what he was doing because he told me. One of the newest Lettuce places, tiki-themed/I'm on vacation gonna-drink-all-I-want type venue. A girl friend and I stopped in here on a Friday night around 6pm and as predicted it was packed. We didn't make reservations, but I suppose we should the next time we decide to come here. The drinks are strong, cold & delicious. The glassware they come in are so cute - don't forget to put an umbrella in it! After awhile, I think we found ourselves ordering a drink according to the glass design more than the drink itself! I really enjoyed the Saturn - if you're not a fan of rum which I'm not much of and most of the drinks on the "Classic" and "Modern" menu contain rum, then the Saturn is the best choice. If you're with a group, they also have drinks for sharing. We were a bit hungry so we asked for the food menu. (By this time we finally found seats at the bar - hang out long enough and you should be able to find a seat!) The bartender recommended the Thai Chicken so we ordered those and had some luau chips with guac as well. To be quite frank, this is one of my favorite bars I've been to in Chicago. Whether it was the ambience, luck of the night, the drinks/food or the people I was with--who knows? But we had a kickass time While some people may think the whole tiki theme is a bit overdone and somewhat cheesy, Three Dots and a Dash makes it downright fun and enjoyable. While the ambience is a bit dim, there's some funky purple mood lighting that keeps it a bit uplifting. Combine that with the fun tiki bar, friendly servers and enthusiastic bartenders and you've got a recipe for success. Be wary--the drinks are strong, but delicious so it can be easy to polish off a few before even realizing. All the basic cocktails are $13 (yes, a tad pricey), but based on all the TLC (tender love and care) that goes into crafting each cocktail, I let it slide The Jet Pilot, Zombie Punch and Dead Reckoning were my favorites among the ones we ordered. The ambiance is undeniably immersive, with its vibrant decor and tropical vibe creating a perfect tiki lounge atmosphere. The drink menu was intriguing, offering a unique selection of craft cocktails we were eager to try. However, the experience fell short due to overcrowding. The space was packed to the brim, with all seating taken and only standing room available, leaving us elbow-to-elbow with other patrons. We waited at the bar for 20 minutes, hoping to place an order, but the overwhelmed bartenders--while clearly skilled and doing their best--were struggling to keep up with the demand. Unfortunately, we decided not to stay, as the atmosphere felt more chaotic than enjoyable. While we didn't get a chance to try the drinks, we still appreciate the effort the bartenders put into managing such a busy night. Ever done shrooms in Hawaii? If you have, flashbacks to that trip may surface upon entering Three Dots. Their freaky tiki theme is a little bit Jimmy Buffet and a little bit Marilyn Manson ironically placed in a back alley of the most bustling club neighborhood in Chicago. The place is as laid back as a Lettuce venue can get for only being open a week or so. If you go during prime time there's definitely gonna be a line...for awhile. Once you get to the front of it though there's no cover and seating is first come first serve, which can be both good and bad depending on your spot swooping skills. Drinks are pretty intricate so the bar line will also be backed up, but if you're willing to wait for food and beverage you know you're going to be getting quality. Lettuce Entertain You rarely disappoints. Overall its something different and they do it pretty fantastically as you'd expect. If you don't mind battling all the scenesters for a few mai tais and some coconut shrimp it's definitely worth checking out. read more

My husband & I threw a birthday get-together last night, and we are very happy we chose Lincoln Karaoke!! Calling & making a reservation with Ethan was easy, and every question we had was answered professionally. We were a little concerned because of the policy that each guest had to spend $15 minimum (we didn't want to get hit with any extra charges in case someone's tab wasn't in conjunction with our room/party), but the whole process was handled flawlessly & there were literally zero hiccups. The only thing on the downside was that I wish there was an updated list of current songs or more songs in general (in English). Also, we had a party of 25-30, and the room we were given (which was for 30 max) was very cramped and filled, a lot of people had to stand or lean on something. We had a great time regardless, and Ethan & the rest of the staff treated us like VIP! Thank you! We will be back! read more

We came on an off night and hence didn't have to wait in a line in an alley with a laughable velvet rope and a small man with a clipboard. Hilarious pretentions, 3DaaD. From the reviews here and the slight attitude we got from the hostess stand, I would say that's not going to change.Which is like, the opposite of what a real tiki bar should be. Since I'm a simple gal that loves a simple mixed drink, I started with the Idle Hands with banana rum simple sugar and lime. Yummers! My better half tried the Mai Tai and it was so good I ordered it for my 2nd drink. He had the "Aloha, Felicia" because he's all about the jokes, sometimes. I don't remember if he liked it because at that point we were feeling it. Between a 3-4 star and bumping it up because we felt no pain on our way home. read more

I don't drink alcohol but this place is amazing! My friends took me here since they can make their drinks non-alcoholic but you still get the same taste as the alcohol ones. This place is good with you group of friends. The ambiance is really great and the waiters are very accommodating. It's crowded specially on weekends but they make sure they cater to each customer which I find impressive. It would be better if you make reservations first. For the price, I'd say it's worth the price, The drinks are so interesting- not just the taste but also the glasses! It's like a club at first but our dining experience was great. As if this place needed another review! It's great for the experience - it's hard to find tiki bars in downtown Chicago but if you want to escape for a little bit, it's perfect. The drinks are about $13 and they're strong as hell. 2 will keep you buzzed for the night -- in the best way possible. My friends and I ordered so many but my favorites were the mai tai and the painkillers. You'll see skulls next to a few drinks on the menu. Be careful - they are STRONG. The ambiance is great and if you go on a weeknight, the lines aren't too bad and you'll get a table pretty easily! I would also recommend Lost Lake, since it was started by the same person! Found 3Dots on Yelp...good reviews and the price is not too expensive. Everything was great except for the fact that when we got there punctually at our Monday 6:30 reservation, no one came by until I waved to a waitress walking by who had just taken an order from another table. That was at 7:10. Luckily for her, I wasn't that upset because the gals and I were too busy catching up for most of that time. I had the Painkiller drink and tuna & chips appetizer. Delicious. The chips were to salty for my liking but the tuna balanced it out. Oh and the hostess, a short gal, seemed to have no interest in being. She had an "I hate my job" attitude. I was actually excited for this particular River North tiki couch as soon as I Had learned of it, and I wound up coming here three nights in a row (Thu-Sat). It definitely lives up to the hype! The demonstration of the beverages is just outstanding - garnishes change from banana dolphins (my favourite) to actual blossoms and fruit slices and nautically themed stirrers and tiki cups. The drinks themselves are also rather great, although occasionally it was difficult to identify the difference between a number of the beverages by flavor alone. My top pick for drinks would be the banana daiquiri as well as the solitary isle. Service at a table is top notch too! read more

This place was operating before this pandemic situation and it was great as well then and even during these weird times this place was absolutely amazing. The drinks are delicious and the servers are doing a great job making sure everyone is safe and taken care of. I totally felt safe and comfortable there. Yes, it's weirdly in an alley. Yes, it's weirdly underneath Bub City. Yes, it can be pricey. And yes, it feels slightly pretentious. But yes, I love this place. The drinks are delicious... not many places offer a banana-frozen-something-or-other & Three Dots does theirs up right. I love coming here in the dead of winter, forgetting that it's -13 outside, and sipping on a tiki cocktail while relaxing island-themed music plays on the radio. I love the mugs/glasses, the time & care they put into the cocktails & the presentation. Even the small bites are delicious. Definitely one of my favorite LEYE joints in the city. read more

Disappointing Service, Aggressive Management, and Double Standards at LH Rooftop…read more We hosted a celebration at the LH Rooftop VIP Lounge on August 3rd, and unfortunately, what should have been a high-end experience turned into a deeply frustrating one. We spent over $3,000 on our reservation alone and were hotel guests staying on-site, yet we were left disappointed. We had a minor setback with the food coming out later than expected, which left us with a lot of food to eat at the very end. However, the real issues were the service and management. Early on, our server Ellie made an uncomfortable comment implying we hadn't paid for our event in full weeks prior. We had paid in full, and while we were over by $137 due to a few extra shots, we were well aware of it and settled it immediately. Later, I purchased two additional bottles of champagne on my personal tab for over $450. Despite full gratuity being automatically included, the bottles were simply dropped off on our table with zero flutes. I had to explicitly request flutes just to drink the champagne I had just bought. The biggest issue was the manager, Chase. Around 10:30 PM--30 minutes before the rooftop closed at 11:00 PM--my brother was preparing to order a bottle of Patrón so we could enjoy our remaining time. Instead of welcoming the business, Chase came over and abruptly told us we needed to "wrap it up," claiming our section ended at 9:30 PM and that he had already given us a "free hour." When I pointed out that we were currently drinking $450+ in newly purchased champagne and actively trying to order more, Chase became hostile, dismissive, and facetious. He claimed he didn't know how much a bottle of Patrón cost, but insisted that staying in the section required $500 every 30 minutes. I was shocked because it's just for the last 20 minutes of the night before closing and no one else could get in the section once we left because they were closing. When I explained that we were hotel guests, had spent thousands of dollars, and were trying to continue spending, he completely brushed us off. His attitude was extremely off-putting I literally had to tell him to check his heart because of how cold and confrontational he was being. Bottom Line: We were the only prominently Black group on the rooftop, and the aggressive pressure put on us during the final 20 minutes while trying to spend more money felt targeted. It was hard not to feel like a white group in the same position, spending thousands of dollars, would have been treated with far more respect and flexibility. LH Rooftop completely ruined what was supposed to be a celebratory night. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this place for private events or VIP lounge bookings.

The music can get loud, but it fits the atmosphere perfectly. The bartenders were constantly interacting with guests, swinging the lights, encouraging the crowd, and turning the entire room into a neon-lit fiesta. They do have a food menu featuring items such as tacos, nachos, quesadillas, and guacamole, but we mostly came for the drinks. Many of the cocktails are tequila- or mezcal-based, which is exactly what we enjoy. The menu is creative, the drinks are strong, and the bar does an excellent job making agave spirits approachable--even for guests who may not consider themselves mezcal experts. After two drinks and an argument with a decorative donkey, we finally found the missing spirit hiding behind the bar. He was translucent, smelled faintly of roasted agave, and appeared to be carrying a tiny map. We followed him through a glowing hallway, down a staircase, and into a secret chamber where he revealed the legendary piñata of Quetzalcoatl, the ancient feathered serpent god. Naturally, we attempted to break it open. Instead of candy, it released a cloud of mystical dust, three lime wedges, and a receipt for nachos. The ghost donkey brayed with laughter, the lights began swinging, and the entire bar erupted in applause. The bartender handed us another drink and told us this happened all the time. I received a "Save The Date" for Sunday, 8/16/26 saying they'd be open to the public for the Air and Water Show and taking reservations beginning 30 days before the date. I had been here once before in 2019 for an "Air and Water Show viewing party" that was a ticketed event open to the public, but every year since then they have been booked for private events that whole weekend. So I was really excited that they had tables open to the public for Sunday on that weekend and I made a reservation. I just got an email that they cancelled my reservation because NOW there's a private party there on Sunday the 16th. I get that they need to chase the money, but there is always a way to do that without going back on your OWN WORD and dicking over your customers. Now I have to scramble for a Plan B just two weeks out from the show. Really not cool. Edited to add: I did a little digging and it's not that some PE firm with deep pockets came in last minute and booked the whole place. With perhaps some small compensation of some sort for the inconvenience? Of course not! Because that would be hospitality industry professionalism!

I sat at the bar downstairs and can confirm the place has a classic speakeasy feel -- the the basement of a place behind a locked door, very dark inside with mood lighting/glass cases and leather chairs/couches around small low tables. It's definitely a great date spot! I took off a star because it's pricey -- I got the "milk punch" on their classic cocktail menu which was $25 and is pretty small, but it's a nice drink and tasted very much like a milk punch drink I got at a speakeasy back home (in Austin, TX). The bartenders were super nice and provided excellent service, no complaints there! The bathrooms were also immaculate. Overall, this is a very nice speakeasy! I've been to many in my day and the ambiance is definitely on par with the best, but I gotta say some other unique ingredients (ideally more floral options!) would really take their menu up a notch! Nevertheless, I would def rec a visit to those visiting Chicago, and would go again even just for vibes :)

Wow! My wife and I…read morehave been wanting to try Gus' Sip & Dip for some tome. On Sunday, July 12th we finally did, and we loved it. My wife declared it her new favorite restaurant. When you walk into this River North establishment you feel a relaxed, lowkey vibe. The attractive space is dimly lit with lots of wood. We started with their homemade chips. They were very good and came with a great dipping sauce. We then had the Croque Madame, which is a smoked ham and gruyere sandwich served with a truffle cheese and poached egg dip. The sandwich was very good on its own, but the dipping sauce took it to another stratosphere. The poached egg is almost hidden under the melty cheese, and once you break the yolk the two liquids meld together to create a one of a kind dipping sauce. Incredible! Service was great and prices are reasonable. We can't wait to come back here!
