Stopped in for some drinks before dinner nearby that is after we finally found the place in the back alley. We actually got a seat at the bar since it was not too crowded on a Sunday early evening. The drink choices were all tempting and if they weren't so expensive and strong I would have had a second one. I opted for the classic Trader Vic's Mai Tai which was very good and potent. Well made! There were at least five other drinks I wanted to try and they were all very creatively presented. The only downside was the first bartender had the personality of a rock but the woman who replaced him was super fun and friendly. I definitely would stop again for drinks. read more

Context: I had a work conference in Chicago in June 2023 and needed to find something to do instead of just sit in my hotel room! I love Tiki culture and so when I heard I would be going to Chicago in the summer, I knew I had to hit up the Chicago tiki scene as there are a surprising number of tiki bars in the area. Of course, no one is probably higher on the must-do list than Three Dots and a Dash. Aesthetic: You first literally need to find the entrance which is tucked away in an alley way in downtown Chicago. If you didn't know what you were looking for, you would be forgiven for walking right past it. Once you find the entrance (look for the bouncer and a few tables on astroturf - dead giveaway) you walk down a flight of stairs into the bar area. This place has all the trimmings of a classic tiki bar - dark, mysterious, Polynesian flair, a little bit of gimmick, and palms. Food and Drink: So, I came mainly for the drinks and I was in for a treat as they were showcasing 10 years of signature cocktails during their existence. I really enjoyed just reading through the menu seeing all the neat drinks that have been thought up throughout the years. How do I choose? Finally, I chose the Banana Daquiri because I loved bananas and you know... a banana dolphin. How can you not? I also decided to try something from their food menu and landed on the classic Crab Rangoons. Both drink and food were pretty good and presentation was spot on, this place isn't well known for just any reason. If I had to picky, I would have liked more filling in the rangoons but they were still tasty. I enjoyed the variety of four dipping sauces that accompanied them, I like choices! The drink was an easy photo opp showstopper, remember, banana dolphin. Gimmicky yes but then again if you are too cool for a banana dolphin then don't come here. Fair enough. Service: Super-fast and efficient. They defiantly wanted to turn tables as fast as they could. It made me feel a bit rushed, but staff never made it seem like they were pushing me out the door. It was a tad loud in the space since it was full of people and the sound and such easily bounced off the walls. Seemed like everyone had to yell to talk. Price: Prices were comparative to other bars in downtown Chicago. When putting that into context, you are getting a better deal here since there is actually presentation and homemade ingredients going into these drinks and not just factory made syrups and bottom shelf booze. My Consensus: This is a must stop while in Chicago if you can snag a reservation. Even if you don't find the appeal of tiki culture or have a taste for the tropical, just visiting this place is an easy way to have an island vacation right in downtown Chicago and it is something vastly different from a mainstream cocktail lounge. It's kind of like Rainforest Café for adults...err... is that offensive to say? read more

Incredible atmosphere. Interesting drinks. Tough to find. Reservation requires twenty dollars down. Drinks buy you 90 minutes and food options are limited. Had fun there. Enjoyed myself before last call was announced to us at 7 pm. Last call, are you closing? No but if you don't order more you have overspent your visit time. read more

Came here on a Monday night with coworkers. The drinks were tasty and nicely presented, albeit expensive. A man that was not our waiter told us there were too many people at our table and we had to leave our table to move to the bar, so we left to go somewhere else. read more

The coolest cocktail bar I've been to in my life This place is such a vibe! Upon arrival you walk through an alley and down the skull covered stairs to the bar. Off to the right is the bamboo room! Cocktails are crafted with love and attention to detail. We reserved the bamboo room which was 15$ per person on open table. Seated promptly in the room. The drink menu was 20+ a drink but well worth it! My favorite was probably the banana daiquiri so good! The bartender/ server took time to make each drink and his care was appreciated! Such a freakin cute bar!! Go downstairs and it's like you've entered a tiki world. Reservations are best otherwise bar is first come first serve and seats can get scarce. The drinks are super unique, colorful, run on the sweet side (which I love), have quirky names, the bartenders are experts and getting drinks out seemlessly. Def coming back!! read more

Pretty decent vibes but not sure why it's so hyped? I thought the drinks were really expensive for what they were although I did really enjoy my pineapple drink from the Bamboo Room. I am also pretty sure you need a reservation AND a deposit to drink here. Our bartender was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave lots of great recommendations to my friends and me. I mean, who doesn't like a tiki bar? The vibe is always tropical when you go to one! During our Chicago trip, I came across Three Dots and A Dash during my Yelp searches and I knew I had to come here. I wasn't really sure what I was getting myself into and thankfully, I did not run into any issues! We came on a Thursday night and got there about an hour after they opened. There was no line and there were seats available at the bar! My husband and I got a drink each -- I got the Isle of Mango and he got the Vibe Patrol. They looked fantastic, were yummy, and strong. Drinks range from $15-$20 each, which may be kind of pricey? But coming from Las Vegas, those prices are pretty normal. We also shared an order of the sweet potato fries and there was a lot for an order! I kind of wished they offered a smaller portion, like a snacking portion. I felt that the size they gave us could be my dinner! I actually left my credit card there that night. When we came back Friday night to pick up my credit card, we saw a giant line outside. I assume they were all waiting to get in. Sooo if you do plan to visit during Friday/Saturday, make sure you make reservations! read more

We ordered three different drinks plus a large fish bowl sized drink to share. The drinks were all mixed well and the drinks that had a double skull rating were actually strong! I loved the theme of the bar and the menu was super cute. I've given a rating of 4 starts because the service was a bit slow and the server wasn't as attentive even though there wasn't that many people. read more

A friend recommended this place on our Chicago trip. Line wrapped around the building, and reservation was required. Giving 4/5 stars since we waited 20 minutes to get in with a reservation. Good music, strong drinks, and not too crowded! A bit pricey, but the drinks are beautiful. read more

Apparently, this is a must visit when you come to Chicago. We made reservations a few weeks ahead of time. Arrived in the alleyway in the back under the covers and took the entrance (where a worker/security guy is standing) and went down a flight of stairs. The decor and ambiance was fantastic. The service was great too. The drinks were good and very well decorated. It is a little pricey, but definitely worth a visit if you want some good drinks and atmosphere for a fun night. read more

Will never go here again. Three dots is happy to take their customers money and not provide a full service for their events. Paid over $100 each for tickets to their 2025 Halloween event. The event was till 1am, included 5 drinks (they had a unique menu with cocktails for halloween). We reserved a 2 person seat at 10pm. When we arrived, we were informed the event was actually open seating, we could have arrived at any time. Annoying, but not the end of the world. My friend and I thought we had till 1am to use all of our tickets. We approached the bar at 12:01am and the bartenders refused to serve us. They said the event "was over" and we needed to leave. We asked, instead of a specialty cocktail, we could just use the tickets on a basic rum and coke and still they denied us. Then another customer threw her glass drink at the bar, took another drink and threw it at a table of customers. Glass shattered everywhere. Three Dots did nothing to escort her out or make sure anyone was okay. We tried to talk with the hostess on our way out but she just shrugged at us. I tried contacting them via Instagram to try to get some kind of solution to or horrible night, Three Dots said they would reach back out to me but still haven't. I feel totally scammed. read more

I am obsessed with this cute, low lit bar/restaurant!!! My cousin recommended it to us and we came here on our last night of our trip. Such a good spot to end it off. The drink are super cool and delicious. The vibes were great. I would love to come here with a group of friends next time and also try their food. We got a table in advance (we thought we had to but I think yo I can just go to the bar also). Our waitress was so sweet. Will def be back! read more

This place is so cool from the get go. Cool outside scene, tiki torches by entrance. Then there's a walk around and down stairs - very cool atmosphere and decor. It's an awesome tiki bar/ club vibe. This is truly a great tiki experience. I've been to many a tiki bar and our friend who was with us is obsessed with tiki. This place absolutely did not disappoint. Our server was very nice and very on top of it. Every drink we had was great. The 2 stand outs were the Gremlins After Dark and the New New Nui Nui. I went to three dots and a dash for my birthday and I loved it! Literally so perfect. We had the pu pu platter and a shared drink Bali Bali as well as the shotstapus! It was super fun for a light bite after a drive down lakeshore. I will say the place was slammed so with a group you 100% need a reservation for a week day. If classic tiki bar and fun people watching is your thing you have to go!!! Service was great and the location is just central to a fun afternoon down town. read more

I was in Chicago for work and my co workers recommended this place. I'm glad I checked it out and they are definitely a popular hang out however it was way too crowded for me. We didn't have reservations so it was bar access only, our bartender was great and food and drinks came out perfect. I was skeptical about the group drink but the sippopatamus we shared was well balanced between liquor and juices so kudos to the bar because I've been to other places that just give you juice with group drinks. I enjoyed the decor especially as you go down into the bar with the skeletons and the theme but maybe I need to go back and check it out on a less crowded night however it was a Thursday so they may just be that popular! Great drinks and service so I would still recommend however may not go back myself next time I visit. Food was good but not good enough for me to come back just for the food. read more

Very VERY vibey and a must check out in Chicago. Service was incredible and presentation is taken beyond seriously. I was overall just a little disappointed in the cocktails. I have a hometown amazing tiki bar that I think I was internally comparing to, and while Three Dots was great, it wasn't even on the same scale. I love a good tiki bar. Went here twice during our trip, both times without a reservation. If you want a table, definitely recommend making a reservation. We were lucky to get one with a little wait on a Thursday. The drinks are fun, and taste just like you want them to. The Painkiller is very delicious, the Rum Barrel tasty and strong. Don't ignore the drink strength ratings, they're not joking. If you have a group (and a table), they have some amazing group drinks that come in large, elaborate tiki-themed receptacles. Saw some people who didn't have a table order these without knowing what they were getting into, and it added an extra layer of entertainment to my night. You try not to laugh at a guy with dry ice pouring over his arm, holding with two hands what looks like a hippopotamus idol, while wearing a shirt with large palm fronds all over it. read more

Three Dots & a Dash is a must-try if you are in the area! Although the prices are on the high side, the cocktails are creative and strong. The food looked great as well. As other reviews mentioned, you will want to make a reservation if you want a table as it gets very busy! We walked in and it was very crowded, however, we still got our drink pretty quickly. The noise level was just right especially given the number of folks there. Will definitely be back to try more of the drink and food menus! read more

Wow, did Three dots and a dash bring the ambianceeeee! I'm not gonna lie, finding this place was a mission, but once you figure out how to get to it (I went through the alley nearest Bub city) it's a treat to walk into. Definitely speakeasy vibe, with low dark lights and music to keep the place lively. For drinks, you really can't go wrong with any of their options. They bring out the drinks in these fancy, over the top cups with all the garnishes you can imagine. I even witnessed some crazy suitcase with smoke come out for the table next to us. My personal favorite was the Vibe Patrol. If you like tequila, you should try it out. We were a party of 3, so we went with some dishes to share- Chilled corn salad with marinated shrimp (current special), Sweet potato fries, and the Skirt steak skewers. Tbh, all a 10/10. I almost even ordered a second round of the skewers, but was full off the 3 dishes we ordered. Only reason I have it 4 stars is because we had to wait some extended time at some points for our waiter to check in, which caused us to have to wait about 30 minutes (in between ordering and receiving our drinks) to order some food. I still loved the experience here though, so will absolutely be back to try the Isle of Mango! read more

I recommend you make a reservation since most tables will be marked reserved and you will have to sit at the bar if not. A $10/ person deposit will be required when making a reservation but will be discounted from the entire bill. The bouncers, hostesses, and waitresses were all so friendly and welcoming. It is very dark so a perfect date night location. This place is definitely more for drinks and appetizers, but if you order enough food, it will also do for dinner. The Thai fried chicken was delicious and had a strong kick- it was my favorite item we ordered. Drinks are very beautifully presented, but if you are not a rum or bourbon drinker, there will not be many options for you. read more

One of the best tiki bars in the country!! From the entrance to the bamboo room (make a reservation) super cool decor and ambiance. All the drinks and presentations match the part as well and crafty cocktails. The toki high balls were right on point as well! Great service and friendly bartenders. The bar seats are first come first serve in the main room and turn over pretty fast we grabbed a few for 2 drinks then headed out. read more

Rodrigo, our bartender, was great! I have been to this spot once before. Come early for bar seating. It fills up. Reservations should be made well in advance for tables. Their small specialty bar, The Bamboo Room, is only open Wednesday through Saturday and tiny. I have yet to go. You need to walk down an alley to access the door. There is a bouncer inside checking ID. If you're a tiki nut like me, this long standing tiki bar should be on your must visit list! read more

Made a reservation in advance as we knew we were going to visit this place. It requires a $10/deposit per person but it goes towards your drink. I've heard so many good things about this place from my friends and coworker whose been before and it didn't disappoint! The door to the place is a little hidden on the alley, it wasn't too hard to find but just to call out it's not on the Main Street. We made a reservation for 8:30pm and while we didn't see a line when we went in, we definitely saw a LONG line for walk-ins when we left about an hour and a half later at 10pm. So happy we made reservations so we didn't have to wait and we were seated at a table. Those that walked in had to stand around the bar. We each ordered their drinks and honestly, you won't be disappointed no matter what you get. If you don't like a certain element or spirit from their cocktail menu, you can definitely ask them to alter it to your liking and can accommodate you! Very fun vibes and just a great casual place to hang out with friends! Definitely one of the better tikis I've been too. read more

The bartenders were constantly interacting with guests, swinging the lights, encouraging the crowd, and turning the entire room into a neon-lit fiesta. They do have a food menu featuring items such as tacos, nachos, quesadillas, and guacamole, but we mostly came for the drinks. Many of the cocktails are tequila- or mezcal-based, which is exactly what we enjoy. The menu is creative, the drinks are strong, and the bar does an excellent job making agave spirits approachable--even for guests who may not consider themselves mezcal experts. After two drinks and an argument with a decorative donkey, we finally found the missing spirit hiding behind the bar. He was translucent, smelled faintly of roasted agave, and appeared to be carrying a tiny map. We followed him through a glowing hallway, down a staircase, and into a secret chamber where he revealed the legendary piñata of Quetzalcoatl, the ancient feathered serpent god. Naturally, we attempted to break it open. Instead of candy, it released a cloud of mystical dust, three lime wedges, and a receipt for nachos. The ghost donkey brayed with laughter, the lights began swinging, and the entire bar erupted in applause. The bartender handed us another drink and told us this happened all the time. Ghost Donkey is a fantastic place to hang out, pregame, and enjoy inventive tequila and mezcal cocktails in a lively setting. Just be warned: you may arrive looking for a ghost donkey and leave having helped recover an ancient Mexican god's piñata. That's simply the sort of evening this place encourages.

I reserved a table for eight people to celebrate my birthday, however when I arrived the host attempted to seat my guest and I in a booth for four people. When I asked if I could have a seating area that would accommodate my entire party, I was told that the more spacious areas were reserved for other guest as if I did not make a reservation. There was a large area with three tables adjacent to the tiny booth my party was offered with two couples comfortably occupying the space, yet my party was being subjected to being crammed in this small space that barely sat four people. After several request to have my reservation honored, we were finally seated on the opposite side of the establishment in an area similar to the spacious area I saw the two couples dining at. The waitress from the other side of the restaurant explained that she would get us started with our drink orders and our waitress would finish out the order. Our waitress, Savannah, which she neglected to willfully provide us with her name, did not arrive until twenty minutes after the other waitress left and her service was horrendous to say the least. Savannah had a thirty minute gap time for when she came to the table to check on us and she was in a rush when she did. The final straw was when it took her forty-five minutes to come back without the missing items to our order as she sought to go and get once we pointed out it was missing. After speaking with the manager regarding the experience, Savannah suddenly became overly attentive, however it was too little to late my party and I experience was tainted and I was robbed of the great experience I set out to have for my birthday. Despite the seating mishap and the lacking service provided by Savannah, there were some bright spots in my experience. Gio brought out our food order and he was excellent. He provided above and beyond service with a warmth and smile that made my party and I comfortable enough to continue dining there, so much so we spent close to $500. I looooved the atmosphere! I took a bachelorette party here, and the girls were super impressed by the "underground" speakeasy type of vibe they had going on. Walking down the alley and looking for the blue door was super cool, and the decor was amazing. I had been planning this trip for a long time and was excited about ordering some of their group drinks. We decided on the Zombie (for 7 of us) and it came out in fire with amazing presentation! We were off to a great start.... until we tasted it. We are all fairly big drinkers, but the taste of this drink was so incredibly strong it was disgusting. None of us could stomach it. Our waitress never came back by the table to check on us, so one of the girls ordered some Sprite up at the bar to try to pour it to make it more palatable. Unfortunately, it didn't help much. Finally, someone flagged down our waitress and we ordered another Sprite which still didn't help. This drink was just hopeless. We ended up leaving our (at this point with the edition of bottled Sprite) $80 drink on the table. My girlfriend also ordered a tequila shot, and it came out with no salt or lime. When she flagged the waitress down she asked for both, to which our waitress snottily replied "Sorry, we don't do training wheels here". She insisted they didn't have salt in the restaurant. I'm sorry, but you serve food. You do have salt. You can't tell me they don't have salt in the entire place!?! She simply refused to bring it out. I thought that was crazy. Our tab SO FAR is $100 and you can't bring out a shaker of salt. At this point, it didn't even need to be a shaker- it could have been a sprinkle of sea salt from the kitchen in napkin and we would've been happy! So we stayed for about 30 minutes total and left our expensive drink there. It actually broke my heart a little, since I was sooo looking forward to partying the night away at 3 Dots! First off, if it's not super busy and thus there's no line outside, Three Dots and a Dash can be pretty hard to find. Actually, even if there is the normal line it's a bit tricky. Located in an alleyway off of Hubbard, Three Dots is a speakeasy-like tiki bar that is a haven for island wear in the cold Chicago winter. Look for the velvet queue barricades and across from those is the door. This place is super super fun, but if you don't make a reservation or come early, it's going to be packed and you're going to have to stand until you can swoop into an opening bar seat. Which isn't the worst thing in the world, except the drinks come in these awesome cups that are pretty heavy/uncomfortable to hold however cute they are. To give you an idea of how creative they get with presentation, one drink has a banana that looks like a dolphin with a cherry in it's mouth. Don't believe me? I got photo evidence. The drinks are fresh, fun, and super yummy. I'm into rum but my boyfriend is a whiskey guy whose motto is "the bitter the better" and both of us found multiple somethings we loved. I got the Dr. Funkhouser and the Dead Reckoning, he got the Poipu Beach Boogie Board and Jet Pilot. They were *highly* potent. You can also get punch bowls to share. The staff may be the only bartenders I ever met who seem like they are ENJOYING what they are doing. Actually, I know he was enjoying what he was doing because he told me. One of the newest Lettuce places, tiki-themed/I'm on vacation gonna-drink-all-I-want type venue. A girl friend and I stopped in here on a Friday night around 6pm and as predicted it was packed. We didn't make reservations, but I suppose we should the next time we decide to come here. The drinks are strong, cold & delicious. The glassware they come in are so cute - don't forget to put an umbrella in it! After awhile, I think we found ourselves ordering a drink according to the glass design more than the drink itself! I really enjoyed the Saturn - if you're not a fan of rum which I'm not much of and most of the drinks on the "Classic" and "Modern" menu contain rum, then the Saturn is the best choice. If you're with a group, they also have drinks for sharing. We were a bit hungry so we asked for the food menu. (By this time we finally found seats at the bar - hang out long enough and you should be able to find a seat!) The bartender recommended the Thai Chicken so we ordered those and had some luau chips with guac as well. To be quite frank, this is one of my favorite bars I've been to in Chicago. Whether it was the ambience, luck of the night, the drinks/food or the people I was with--who knows? But we had a kickass time While some people may think the whole tiki theme is a bit overdone and somewhat cheesy, Three Dots and a Dash makes it downright fun and enjoyable. While the ambience is a bit dim, there's some funky purple mood lighting that keeps it a bit uplifting. Combine that with the fun tiki bar, friendly servers and enthusiastic bartenders and you've got a recipe for success. Be wary--the drinks are strong, but delicious so it can be easy to polish off a few before even realizing. All the basic cocktails are $13 (yes, a tad pricey), but based on all the TLC (tender love and care) that goes into crafting each cocktail, I let it slide The Jet Pilot, Zombie Punch and Dead Reckoning were my favorites among the ones we ordered. The space was packed to the brim, with all seating taken and only standing room available, leaving us elbow-to-elbow with other patrons. We waited at the bar for 20 minutes, hoping to place an order, but the overwhelmed bartenders--while clearly skilled and doing their best--were struggling to keep up with the demand. Ever done shrooms in Hawaii? If you have, flashbacks to that trip may surface upon entering Three Dots. Their freaky tiki theme is a little bit Jimmy Buffet and a little bit Marilyn Manson ironically placed in a back alley of the most bustling club neighborhood in Chicago. The place is as laid back as a Lettuce venue can get for only being open a week or so. If you go during prime time there's definitely gonna be a line...for awhile. Once you get to the front of it though there's no cover and seating is first come first serve, which can be both good and bad depending on your spot swooping skills. Drinks are pretty intricate so the bar line will also be backed up, but if you're willing to wait for food and beverage you know you're going to be getting quality. Lettuce Entertain You rarely disappoints. Overall its something different and they do it pretty fantastically as you'd expect. If you don't mind battling all the scenesters for a few mai tais and some coconut shrimp it's definitely worth checking out. read more

My husband & I threw a birthday get-together last night, and we are very happy we chose Lincoln Karaoke!! Calling & making a reservation with Ethan was easy, and every question we had was answered professionally. We were a little concerned because of the policy that each guest had to spend $15 minimum (we didn't want to get hit with any extra charges in case someone's tab wasn't in conjunction with our room/party), but the whole process was handled flawlessly & there were literally zero hiccups. The only thing on the downside was that I wish there was an updated list of current songs or more songs in general (in English). Also, we had a party of 25-30, and the room we were given (which was for 30 max) was very cramped and filled, a lot of people had to stand or lean on something. We had a great time regardless, and Ethan & the rest of the staff treated us like VIP! Thank you! We will be back! read more

We came on an off night and hence didn't have to wait in a line in an alley with a laughable velvet rope and a small man with a clipboard. Hilarious pretentions, 3DaaD. From the reviews here and the slight attitude we got from the hostess stand, I would say that's not going to change.Which is like, the opposite of what a real tiki bar should be. Since I'm a simple gal that loves a simple mixed drink, I started with the Idle Hands with banana rum simple sugar and lime. Yummers! My better half tried the Mai Tai and it was so good I ordered it for my 2nd drink. He had the "Aloha, Felicia" because he's all about the jokes, sometimes. I don't drink alcohol but this place is amazing! My friends took me here since they can make their drinks non-alcoholic but you still get the same taste as the alcohol ones. This place is good with you group of friends. The ambiance is really great and the waiters are very accommodating. It's crowded specially on weekends but they make sure they cater to each customer which I find impressive. It would be better if you make reservations first. For the price, I'd say it's worth the price, The drinks are so interesting- not just the taste but also the glasses! It's like a club at first but our dining experience was great. As if this place needed another review! It's great for the experience - it's hard to find tiki bars in downtown Chicago but if you want to escape for a little bit, it's perfect. The drinks are about $13 and they're strong as hell. 2 will keep you buzzed for the night -- in the best way possible. My friends and I ordered so many but my favorites were the mai tai and the painkillers. You'll see skulls next to a few drinks on the menu. Be careful - they are STRONG. The ambiance is great and if you go on a weeknight, the lines aren't too bad and you'll get a table pretty easily! I would also recommend Lost Lake, since it was started by the same person! Found 3Dots on Yelp...good reviews and the price is not too expensive. Everything was great except for the fact that when we got there punctually at our Monday 6:30 reservation, no one came by until I waved to a waitress walking by who had just taken an order from another table. That was at 7:10. Luckily for her, I wasn't that upset because the gals and I were too busy catching up for most of that time. I had the Painkiller drink and tuna & chips appetizer. Delicious. The chips were to salty for my liking but the tuna balanced it out. Oh and the hostess, a short gal, seemed to have no interest in being. She had an "I hate my job" attitude. I was actually excited for this particular River North tiki couch as soon as I Had learned of it, and I wound up coming here three nights in a row (Thu-Sat). It definitely lives up to the hype! The demonstration of the beverages is just outstanding - garnishes change from banana dolphins (my favourite) to actual blossoms and fruit slices and nautically themed stirrers and tiki cups. The drinks themselves are also rather great, although occasionally it was difficult to identify the difference between a number of the beverages by flavor alone. My top pick for drinks would be the banana daiquiri as well as the solitary isle. Service at a table is top notch too! read more

This place was operating before this pandemic situation and it was great as well then and even during these weird times this place was absolutely amazing. Yes, it's weirdly in an alley. Yes, it's weirdly underneath Bub City. Yes, it can be pricey. And yes, it feels slightly pretentious. But yes, I love this place. The drinks are delicious... not many places offer a banana-frozen-something-or-other & Three Dots does theirs up right. I love coming here in the dead of winter, forgetting that it's -13 outside, and sipping on a tiki cocktail while relaxing island-themed music plays on the radio. Disappointing Service, Aggressive Management, and Double Standards at LH Rooftop…read more We hosted a celebration at the LH Rooftop VIP Lounge on August 3rd, and unfortunately, what should have been a high-end experience turned into a deeply frustrating one. We spent over $3,000 on our reservation alone and were hotel guests staying on-site, yet we were left disappointed. We had a minor setback with the food coming out later than expected, which left us with a lot of food to eat at the very end. However, the real issues were the service and management. Early on, our server Ellie made an uncomfortable comment implying we hadn't paid for our event in full weeks prior. We had paid in full, and while we were over by $137 due to a few extra shots, we were well aware of it and settled it immediately. Later, I purchased two additional bottles of champagne on my personal tab for over $450. Despite full gratuity being automatically included, the bottles were simply dropped off on our table with zero flutes. I had to explicitly request flutes just to drink the champagne I had just bought. The biggest issue was the manager, Chase. Around 10:30 PM--30 minutes before the rooftop closed at 11:00 PM--my brother was preparing to order a bottle of Patrón so we could enjoy our remaining time. Instead of welcoming the business, Chase came over and abruptly told us we needed to "wrap it up," claiming our section ended at 9:30 PM and that he had already given us a "free hour." When I pointed out that we were currently drinking $450+ in newly purchased champagne and actively trying to order more, Chase became hostile, dismissive, and facetious. He claimed he didn't know how much a bottle of Patrón cost, but insisted that staying in the section required $500 every 30 minutes. I was shocked because it's just for the last 20 minutes of the night before closing and no one else could get in the section once we left because they were closing. When I explained that we were hotel guests, had spent thousands of dollars, and were trying to continue spending, he completely brushed us off. His attitude was extremely off-putting I literally had to tell him to check his heart because of how cold and confrontational he was being. Bottom Line: We were the only prominently Black group on the rooftop, and the aggressive pressure put on us during the final 20 minutes while trying to spend more money felt targeted. It was hard not to feel like a white group in the same position, spending thousands of dollars, would have been treated with far more respect and flexibility. LH Rooftop completely ruined what was supposed to be a celebratory night. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this place for private events or VIP lounge bookings.

I sat at the bar downstairs and can confirm the place has a classic speakeasy feel -- the the basement of a place behind a locked door, very dark inside with mood lighting/glass cases and leather chairs/couches around small low tables. It's definitely a great date spot! I took off a star because it's pricey -- I got the "milk punch" on their classic cocktail menu which was $25 and is pretty small, but it's a nice drink and tasted very much like a milk punch drink I got at a speakeasy back home (in Austin, TX). The bartenders were super nice and provided excellent service, no complaints there! The bathrooms were also immaculate. Overall, this is a very nice speakeasy! I've been to many in my day and the ambiance is definitely on par with the best, but I gotta say some other unique ingredients (ideally more floral options!) would really take their menu up a notch! Nevertheless, I would def rec a visit to those visiting Chicago, and would go again even just for vibes :)

My friend got really hangry at a certain moment while we were walking so we came here since it was open, had great reviews, and appeared to have a happy hour going on. We had to wait a little more than 5 minutes outside for a table, but the host was nice and got us accommodated. We were surprised by the inside and the amount of people dining in. From the outside it looks very basic and nothing too fancy. Our server was great and took care of us well the entire time. We ordered some Long Islands because they had a $6 happy hour up until 5pm and I have to say it's probably one of the best long islands I've ever had. All of my friends agreed as well. We were doing some appetizers so we got their style of cheese curds order, some crab rangoons, and pretzel with sauce/cheese to share. Those cheese curds were insanely good. Everyone at our table LOVED them. We wouldn't stop talking about them and had wished there were more. The ranch was excellent as well. We didn't like their marinara though - a bit too watered down. These curds were shaped more like cubes which isn't the traditional way they look, but unique and SO delicious. We also really liked the crab rangoon here. Pretzel was ok, but nothing crazy. They cheese that came with it was excellent though.
