The space was clean and our food arrived fairly quickly. We ordered the fried chicken and beef brisket soup curry. The spices weren't as strong and fragrant as the one we had in Sapporo which is what made it so memorable for me the first time. It was also a bit salty for my liking. But the fried chicken piece was about double the size than the one in Sapporo! Perfectly juicy and the crispiness is a nice contrast to the soup and soft vegetables. Beef brisket was soft and tender but would pick the fried chicken over the brisket. The rice was a bit lackluster compared to the more fragrant one in Sapporo. It's hard to compete with soup curry from the motherland, but this is still worth trying if you're looking for something different from the usual ramen or sushi.

I guess that's the trendy thing. They give you rice refills. The soup - I ordered the kakuni pork belly curry soup. The Kakuni is really really well done. Very tender and soft, absolutely wonderful. I also liked all of the other veggies - broccoli tomatoes corn etc. the soup is on the peppery side but has a great soft flavour to it. I also added eggplant which had great texture. The rice is also very unique. It is more like whole grained rice and feels healthy. Its texture contrasts with the soup and goes well with it I think. Don't expect traditional curry but if you're open to something new this is an enjoyable meal.

The Story Cafe was one the few places that are close to the airport, open early in the morning, and have a high rating. The Story Cafe does live up to the good ratings! The restaurant was spacious with lovely vintage-like decors. The food portion was generous. We had their Fly Me to The Bennies with Salmon, Crab Cake Bennies, Egg In Purgatory, and Duck Confit Hash. All dishes were delicious. I had an oat mocha and to my surprise, there's a really good latte art, which is uncommon in metro Vancouver for drinks with oat milk. The service was normally good, no complaints! Highly recommend The Story Cafe for an early breakfast near the airport.

I've been a regular client over the years,…read moreand have come for weekend brunch, lunch on weekdays, dinners, and even the Thursday live music nights. This is a Saturday at about 3:10pm. Upon entry, we saw only two or three tables occupied. Our waitress took her time coming up to us, and didn't really greet us. She just said they only have the Happy Hour menu as it was after 3pm. We never had Happy Hour before, but based on our past experiences, we were quite sure the smaller menu will be fine. I told her there are 4 of us, and she had to look around the restaurant, and then a looooong gaze at her tablet showing the tables. She pointed to a table towards the wall with the record player. We approached the table, then my wife wanted to sit at the end table behind ours. We asked the waitress, and she said it was reserved! OK, fine. We'll settle into our first table. We found it odd as reservations are not allowed during brunch and happy hour until 5pm. We were there shortly after 3pm. She then brought us menus, but only cared to bring two, when she knows there are four of us. Not a word, and just walked away. I turned towards her but she was already walking away. By this time, I didn't bother anymore. I just walked over myself and grabbed the menu. Then she didn't serve us anymore. Another Asian young man then came with the water bottle. A bit more eye contact this (yay) but still no smile. Just asked us what to drink. Took order and stepped away. We then ordered our dishes, and the food came promptly, except for the flat bread, which came more towards the end when other items are nearly finished. All good, but all of us just felt a whole different vibe this time, all having been here before. Sure enough, the table behind was still unoccupied by the time we left an hour later. Hmm. We were actually there to celebrate my birthday but we weren't really in the mood after not one but two servers seem to need more training. Oh, and heads up. When you call, you'll be talking to AI, not a human being! This should be a 1 star but the good food saved the day.

Chinese food can often be quite greasy but this food was not, and I loved that about it. This location in New Westminster is the second location of Dragon Bowl. I love how the bowls are customizable. There are options for omnivores, vegetarians and even vegans. You can also get bubble tea drinks here. Dakasi bubble tea was in this space previously but it seems that you can still get their drinks here as all of the cups have the Dakasi name printed on them. The people working here were friendly and polite; however, I do think they could have been a bit more helpful when it came to food selection. My bowl of food came with a "vegetable" soup and as they knew that I had ordered a Vegan bowl I would have thought that if the soup contained meat in it, they would inform me of it. It was only when I sat down to drink my soup and saw pieces of meat in it that I realized it was not a meat free vegetable soup. I ended up giving the rest of the soup to my daughter. Also, there was a bean curd product that looked like noodles which I selected for my bowl. This item turned out to be quite spicy. I was able to tolerate the spice level but with any food item that's spicy, I think it would be good for a shop to give the customer some warning about it. My daughter was sharing this bowl with me, and she had more troubles than me with handling the spice level. Aside from the soup and spice blunders, I did enjoy the food here and would most certainly come back again. I chose to go Vegan for this visit but the marinated egg looked very tempting so I may choose to go Vegetarian next time! The food was what gives this a just okay review, it was good and above fast food but in comparison to other restaurants the food is very basic with not much flavour. It is still good and palatable, but it didn't leave a lasting impression and I don't know if I would return. My friend and I ordered mozza sticks to share as an app and they were good but small and could've used more cheese. The grilled cheese as a main was delicious by far our favourite of the night. The basic burger was mediocre with the meat tasting a bit burnt yet it was pink on the inside (fine by me) and a bit dry. The pickles weren't my fav either with them being sweet? I asked for no tomatoes but was shocked there was no onion or such, and the sauce I saw but did not taste. Both my friend and I acknowledged that they had amazing fries, but a refill of ketchup would've been nice. Finally, I had placed my file folder on the table while dining and forgot to pick it up on the way out and no staff alerted me as they were actively clearing it as soon as we got up. That made me a bit sad.

The lamb shoulder was equally good, with the meat absorbing the sauce perfectly. Both types of noodles we tried were springy with the perfect chew, providing a satisfying texture that complemented the proteins well. The braised egg was flavorful, with a rich, savoury taste that added an extra layer of indulgence. For our sides, we opted for black fungus, bean sprouts, celery and carrots, and corn. Each vegetable was fresh, adding a balance of crunch and subtle sweetness that elevated the overall dish. The variety of textures and flavours from the sides made every bite more dynamic and enjoyable. We were informed we could sit anywhere outside. By the pleasant server. We were given the menu and perused what we wanted. I ordered grandma's clam chowder which comes served in a sour dough bun hollowed out. I also ordered waffles with fried chicken. Wifey got the sweet and salty which was French toast with soft poached egg/hollandaise. The waffle I ordered also came with a soft poached egg/hollandaise. For beverages I got a regular coffee and wifey got a lavender latte. The plating was absolutely beautiful for the dishes. My first bite of the waffles and chicken was delightful. The chicken was moist and seasoned well and the waffle was nice and soft. There also was a salad on top which was dressed in a sweet dressing. That was standard as greens go. The clam chowder had a decent amount of large clams in it, the texture and creaminess was good. I did feel the base or soup stock used was a tad light for my liking as I wasn't catching the essence of clam chowder flavor. Other wise it was ok. But filling it you intend to eat the whole bun which I did cuz I love sourdough bread. Wife's french toast was lovely, I had a small taste and to me it was good. Nothing mind blowing but decently good. The hollandaise used to be tasted buttery and legit. The meal on a whole was very good and we love the patio seating. Would definitely come back again.
