Don't even bother. Just save your money. They don't maintain their grounds and the park is overrun by ants.

The staff has always been amazing to us, the park is huge, the family pool is huge and the adult pool is heated with a hot tub.

I found out about it by accident while on the hunt for wildflowers; I entered the Wilderness from the west, via the Burkhart Trail next to Buckhorn Campground in the Angeles National Forest. This wilderness is home to several trails, including the Pacific Crest Trail and Islip Saddle, and offers some of the most stunning land I've ever seen. Please check your GPS before heading off into the wilderness; the directions on Yelp may not be 100% accurate. An actual paper map will be more accurate in this area; there is no service or signal. I parked in the Burkhart Trail parking lot and entered from there. Take your charged phone (you may still be able to call or text 911 in case of emergency),map and compass, snacks, water, and anything necessary to survive completely on your own. Look out for falling trees; this area burned not too long ago but seems to be recovering beautifully. You will be rewarded for your efforts by views of unspoiled lands, wildflowers, pine trees, waterfalls and wildlife. Absolutely stunning. SCAMMERS I would give this RV park zero stars if I could…read more They advertise themselves like some kind of luxury "resort," but don't let the marketing fool you, it's nothing more than a bad advertisement. The pictures and promises do not match reality at all. It's overpriced, poorly managed, and completely unprofessional. The worst part? They have NOT returned my deposit. I moved out on November 1st. Today is February 25, 2026 -- almost FOUR MONTHS later -- and I am still waiting for my money. I have called multiple times. Every single time I'm told the same thing: "we had some problems with the system, You'll have it in the next two days." Apparently, "two days" means months to them. It's excuse after excuse with no accountability. On top of that, there are aggressive unleashed dogs running around the property. My dog was attacked on multiple occasions because management does not enforce leash rules. It's unsafe and irresponsible. As a pet owner, I should not have to worry about my dog being harmed just walking around the park. Don't surprise if you see police inside the park daily because is a few people inside they can't control themselves and is very common people appropriating what belongs to others. If they can't handle something as basic as returning a deposit or enforcing basic safety rules, how are they running a "resort"? Save yourself the stress, the endless phone calls, and the disappointment. There are plenty of RV parks that actually honor their agreements, enforce rules, and treat guests with respect. This place does not. I'm still waiting for a solution and my money.

Every single day feels like harassment letters taped to doors nonstop, new demands constantly, and residents being treated like children instead of human beings. It doesn't feel like a resort or a community anymore. It feels like living under a dictatorship where you're always waiting for the next threat or reprimand. What finally pushed me over the edge was witnessing Brandon publicly humiliate a guest I personally know to be an amazing human being someone who pays his rent on time, respects others, and takes pride in his home. Brandon had the nerve to tell him that he and his home "look like a junkyard." Watching someone who doesn't deserve that kind of treatment be torn down like that made me sick. No decent person should be spoken to that way. Every interaction with Brandon is uncomfortable and upsetting. He is rude, unprofessional, and frankly disgusting to be around he literally smells like poop, which somehow matches the way he treats people. There is no kindness, no respect, no leadership here just intimidation and control. This place broke my spirit. What was once home now feels like a prison where residents live in fear of being shamed or targeted. I would never recommend LA RV Resort to anyone. Save yourself the emotional stress and stay far away.

It's about 45 minutes from the bottom of the hill off Sierra Madre Ave and San Gabriel Canyon rd. No cellphone service a mile from that intersection going north into the canyon. If you're going in two or more cars you should bring walkie talkies and that'll be useful when you look for a campsite if it's packed or all sites are taken. Drive around separately to locate a site for yourself. Some sites allow for single car usage and others allowed for three or more cars. The car that pays for the campsite doesn't need to buy the adventure pass but those additional cars do and it's $5 per day. As soon as you find a site. Park your vehicle there and trek over to the ranger station and tell them the Loop your on and the campsite # your at and pay the fee. They'll give you a piece of paper you attach to your site number so when the ranger comes by to verify they'll know you paid. They have trails to Crystal lake and around the campsite. Bring plenty of drinkable water especially during the summer months. Most campsites have shade but some do not. There are roughly 125 campsites in all. You can just go there for the day but you'll still need an adventure pass to park in the parking lot. The actual lake as of summer 2025 is low and not safe to swim in but you can fish and you'll need a fishing license to do that. You don't need a 4x4 vehicle to go up to the campsite as the roads are all paved. Come and check this campground out in your next adventure to your local mountains!

I love camping and I understand that the idea of maintaining a toilet may be difficult in a forest environment, but these facilities need either regular maintenance or should just be shut down. The smell is horrific, and the amount of flies in the bathroom feasting on the poop that is drenched along the rim and bowl of the toilets says to me that these spaces haven't been cleaned in months. I really enjoyed Crystal Lake itself and the grounds, but I highly recommend that people plan an alternative solution for bathroom needs. In my opinion it is required that you bring your own toiletries and I feel the best solution is to bring your own portable toilet tent. I noticed others had made this choice and if I had known, my 3 day trip would have been better. On one night, in the women's bathroom, someone decided to poop on the floor. I imagine pooping in the toilet was too gross for them. The level of abhorrence that person must have felt is truly undeniable.

*This is NO Resort* We planned to stay here a year due to working in the AV (home is in Alabama),…read morewe didn't make it 6 weeks. It was as if we were living back at home with strict parents; the unnecessary nit-picking, numerous calls to our place of employment to notify us that we were seen speeding through the park on numerous occasions (completely untrue), telling us that we need to make sure that we notify shippers of our site number because they don't want the drivers coming in and asking where sites are - which we did immediately upon moving in (I looked on the package as soon as I arrived home and it clearly had our site number on the package) - the management was borderline harassing us. I came through the gate one afternoon "slowly" making my way around the corner (the entrance is on somewhat of a hill, so you need to accelerate to move the truck up), the assistant manager coming down the opposite side of the road in her cart with her dog waving for me to slow down, I quickly (and in shock) looked at the speedometer which showed I was going 6 mph (an idle roll in a large diesel truck, a slow walking pace). Once we passed each other she did a quick u-turn and started following me to try and intimidate me, so I stopped - she drove up to my window to tell me that I was going 7 mph and speeding through the park and needed to slow it down. I didn't know how to respond to her it was so ridiculous and unnecessary. This is one of many times we were spoken to. I have seen the assistant manager several times going up and down each row looking/inspecting each and every site, front and back of each rig looking for something to call out. It wasn't until the calls started at my place of employment that we began looking for other options for the year that we found several nearby RV parks that were half the cost, twice the space size, clean grounds, offering much more with bike and walk paths, pools, and a much friendlier staff; just a happier place to be. We are good people, we drive safe, we respect others, we are quiet, we follow rules, work long hours all week and just want to come home and relax. It wasn't just us, several people in the 6 weeks we stayed voiced their frustration as well. We paid $1350/month for a very small site (all sites are on top of each other), you have freeway noise, and we had harassment from the management - this is no "Resort". Our reason for leaving was solely due to the unnecessary management nit-picking - the size of the sites, the closeness of the sites, the freeway noise we would have tolerated, and the admin girls that work in the office were pleasant and helpful. We only received a portion of our refund owed to us - so my suggestion is look around and do your research before committing. There are other parks nearby that offer more and half the cost, and you'll look forward to going home at the end of the day.

The first night we were there something was stolen from our truck. When walking around there was dog poop not picked up. The sites were so tiny you couldn't park a vehicle and comfortably set up a table and chairs outside. For 1300+ a month, I would expect more. How bout chasing thieves down in carts and leave the 6mph folks alone? Anyway, for half the price, go down the road a couple miles to thousand trails for a real camping experience. There is plenty of room to spread out and plenty of wilderness to enjoy. This place is nothing but an overpriced unruly glorified trailer park.

Such a lovely weekend getaway. If you live in LA, but want to feel like you are far from the city,…read morethis is definitely the spot. It's less than an hour drive away It feels completely out of touch from the city bustle. There are many campsites, but they can fill up quickly on a holiday weekend. We went on Friday night around 11 PM and there was less than 10 sites left. I'd imagine by Saturday morning they were completely filled. I'd recommend driving around a couple times to scout which spot best fit your needs. There are some that feel really isolated from other campsites and there are a ton that are very close knit. The sunsets are phenomenal. And the overall atmosphere was serene and it was nice to see the amount of other people just collectively experiencing camping. There are water spouts, but we didn't end up using them. The bathrooms were as expected for a campground. There are hikes nearby that I would save off line prior to visiting so you can access directions while up there. And just an FYI, it is a first come first serve campground so it's nice as an option if you randomly decide you want to go camping! I don't know if there's any active creeks or rivers nearby, but it doesn't feel like a dry flat desert campground more on the forest type of campground. It's also dog friendly, definitely keep them on a leash for safety, and I would recommend clearing out the campsite floor prior to setting up because we did find a few nails and opened safety pins.

There are just the right amount of people on the trail where it is not too crowded and it's also not too secluded. What I wish I would have known before I went was that you can park right next to the trailhead. If you enter into Buckhorn Campgrounds you can drive right up to the trailhead parking lot. I didn't know this so I parked at the outer parking lot and had to walk a half a mile down the hill. The parking lot nearest the trailhead actually had less cars then the outer parking lot. The other thing is that the majority of the trail is really easy to follow. You just have to remember that when you get to the signage and junction that lists both Cooper Canyon Trail and Burkhart Trail be sure to keep going straight along the Burkhart Trail. The falls will be a little further down on your left. You will have to descend down to the canyon bottom, with the assistance of a rope, to reach the base of the falls. Kids can do it no problem. The waterfall empties into a pool of water that's about a foot deep. It's really cold and refreshing. The waterfall was really wide with a nice and strong flow. Be sure to bring your Adventure Pass.
