I can say "maybe" because they were closed before 10pm! If you are a business on a Very Busy street like Harlem Ave; you can't be closing before 10pm. They are right off the 290 Harlem South Exit, on the West side of Harlem. Lot was relatively clean and so was the outside, they need to not close like that. They are located in a vibrant and really nice city surrounded by beautiful homes and establishments. Many places to eat and enjoy. They need to do a better job representing that. read more

Cheap gas near the Ike and a friendly cashier who greeted everyone and then thanked them. Diet Coke in the fountain drink machine, scores an extra point. Just be extra careful driving in and out. Someone nearly too off the back end of my car. Also, the music is really loud. But other than that, it's a fine gas station. read more

GHETTO GAS This fueling station is 40% hood, 60% traffic nightmare. You'd think that the convenience of being able to gas up just a stone's throw from the Eisenhower expressway (I-290) would be a great thing. Think again. This Thornton's is a hot mess. The flow of cars coming in/going out of here is ridiculous. It's an automobile free-for-all as dozens of people jockey for position at one of their pumps. There's no turn area, just a tiny -- almost indistinguishable -- curb and then *boom* Harlem Avenue. You have to be super careful when entering & exiting, as I've seen at least one accident result from this poor setup. Southbound cars fly by at close to 50mph, for f*ck's sake. Oh, and it doesn't help that the gas station itself sits on a minuscule part of land, which adds to the commuter chaos. When I stopped here yesterday, EVERY one of the windshield wiper basins was out of fluid, and several were filled with candy wrappers. It doesn't help that this gas station is located in the sh*tty part of Forest Park, mere blocks from the ghetto. It's far from the best Thornton's; I'd recommend you make the extra 1/2-mile drive to the Citgo 7/11 a bit further up the street, and avoid this shady ass place. read more

I am a regular patron of this gas station because of its location. Typically it is competitively priced with other stations in the area. Likes - it is located right off 290 - as a reward member, you are automatically given cents off each gallon - once you have achieved reward status, you are given the lowest price per gallon ( cheapest within 24 hours) - 32 oz fountain beverages are $1 Dislikes - it is always packed which translates into a wait for an available pump - the convenience store is pricey. Bottled drinks are pretty close to $2 with tax. Chips are almost the same amount. - service inside is inconsistent. Occasionally, employees are preoccupied with non-work related conversations even when there is a line of five people or more. read more

The male cashier was very friendly, and professional when I went to exchange 2 propane tanks; thumbs to for him. However, I forgot to buy some newspapers to use for packing material, so, I went back in and ended up dealing with a woman for this transaction. I bought 3 weekday Chicago Tribune newspapers which should have been $1.50 each, total of $4.50; she charged $12. That woman was a scammer. She likely pocketed the overcharged money, but, I can't say that for fact. Be aware of what they are charging you if you buy something from inside the store. read more

This gas station always seems to have some of the cheapest gas (source: Gas Buddy app), and it shouldn't have the cheapest gas! Its the closest gas station to the Eisenhower expressway near Oak Park and Forest Park, and that to me means an automatic 5% surcharge on gas. Personally, I do not see why this place has only 3 stars. Well, maybe, the lottery lines mess up the experience for people needing to buy a soda pop or water on the inside. The lottery line can get 8 people deep pretty quickly, and the lottery buyers debate the cashier, so be sure to pay at the pump. If you need cheap gas in the near west burbs, here it is. Yes, it is a pain in the butt getting in and outta here, but that's because the gas is usually 20 cents cheaper then the gouger stations in Oak Park, and so half the town is getting their gas here. I do hate that the gas pumps try and solicit crap from you before you can pump gas (do you want a coffee for 99 cents? or a money order or some crap I don't want) but that is policy instituted by some evil corporate Darth Vader in a suit that is hundreds of miles from here. I have not seen a drug dealer here, just people getting gas and coffee and the like. I have not used the bathroom here, but then again I am not coming here for the bathroom, I come to get cheap gas. Best gas station on Harlem Avenue, with pump prices that are usually (though not always) the cheapest around. The convenience and popularity of this location sometime cancel each other out. The line to get in here can be long, and sometimes traffic backed up on Eisenhower bridge makes the turn difficult. You may not find an open pump right away. But for a few cents less a gallon, it's worth the hassle. (Note: Gas is still cheaper at Costco in North Riverside. If you have a membership and can pay cash, go there instead.) The convenience store at Thorntons is also nice. Well laid out, and with a good selection of cold beverages. They always seem to have what I want , and for a gas station store that's high praise. I came to thronton because it was the cheapest gas I could find and I went in, stood in line , made eye contact to the cashier and paid $20 cash for gas. I try to put gas and the pump said I had to go back in and so I did , stood in line and said "hey I just paid and the pump isn't letting me " cashier tried to tell me that I didn't pay and that I never came in and That she can give me $5 of gas cause I'm not getting free gas " Like how does that make sense ??
