My review is of the service center only. I've taken two different cars here, a Chevy and a Honda. Both visits were for routine maintenance. The customer service was very friendly, the waiting area is clean, car is ready on time or before estimate, and the prices are fair. They also give you a punch card for oil changes so you can earn a free one. Upon moving to the area l used to take my car to Apple Honda, but compared to the service I've received at Thornton it's really night and day. Would recommend! read more

We brought our GMC Terrain in today, 10/24/25 to be checked out because it ran, but wasn't running right. We get a phone call repairs will be 7,000.00-10,000.00. WHO GIVES A LOW HIGH ESTIMATE THAT FAR APART??? We declined to have the work done, paid our bill and went to start it to take it home, I have NEVER HEARD AN ENGINE CRANK LIKE THAT!!! They did not put something back together right!!! It would not start at all, so no we have to have it towed. I would not even recommend the service depart there to do even an oil change, I'd be afraid to!!! read more

Took my 2015 Silverado in for steal issue and stabilizer track issue and for an oil change and state inspection and emissions. They fix all of my issues which costed me 4000.00. When I picked my truck up after hours I noticed right away that my brakes were not right. It felt loose like it had air in the lines but I knew it wasn't that because I wouldn't be able to stop my truck. I couldn't call that day since it was after hours so I called the next day and spoke with a service rep. She explained that it might be a break booster which GMC has a recall on and I should bring the truck in right away. I scheduled it for Thursday and drop it off that day. When they called me hours later they told me it was the vacuum pump and it would cost me an additional 400.00 because the warranty ran out. I said no thanks and said since you 20 plus years service guys inspected my truck did they test drove it? Manager replied yes they did and I said why didn't they pick up on the break situation. No reply from the manager. I picked up my truck again after hours and I immediately notice my breaks felt different. It was much tighter. Makes me wonder what scam are they trying to pull over me. read more

I was totally disappointed in the service department. Not for the work performed, but the amount quoted for the work. I was given a cost and confirmation of that cost on the phone. When the vehicle was picked up the bill was $100.00 dollars more than quoted. I believe the amount should have been adjusted based on what I know was said. This would have been the right thing to do. All is well that ends well. We are 20+ years military family moving in from Hawaii for the War College. Started communicating over the email about buying a used truck. Nissan Frontier 2005. Upon arrival husband test drove said truck .... Clutch had a long throw and he inquired about it. Was told by dealers that all was just fine. This is "normal" for this make and model. Two weeks of driving it gets worse and finally gives out. Called and asked about getting it resolved since it was a pre-condition. Was told by Chip that we bought it "as is" I thought DAMN this SUCKS! We asked Chip at Thornton to consider sharing the cost. In the end, Steve's Garage in Carlisle PA communicated with Thornton who did pay over $2000 to fix clutch and related problems. YEA! I am glad they stand behind their sales. But warning to the wise about buying a vehicle AS IS - Thornton had no legal requirement to fix the truck. Thank you Thornton. We really appreciate your values and ethics. read more

We went there Saturday 3/31/2018, they have some nice cars there. We wanted to trade in our pick up for an SUV, sales lady was nice n all. It didn't work out because of our credits and up'sNdown's on the car, plus they only tried one bank. It's funny though, we got approved but bad news is we need over 10K down for a used SUV. I feel that they didn't do enough, like try a couple of other banks instead of one bank. It only seems they don't want your business if their not trying more then one bank, it was a total different experience with Apple. We went to Apple Toyota right after we got rejected from Thornton and they were great with trying to work with our credits and deals, won't be going to Thornton Chevy for sure read more

Only go to this dealership if you are looking for a salesman to blatantly lie about the condition of the car they are selling you and for the manager (Tom) to tell you afterwards that it isn't his problem then refuse to ever call you back. Tom might be the worst manager I have personally ever encountered. He is completely unprofessional and due to his negligence the title for the pc of scrap car that they sold me was sent to the wrong address in a completely different state. After 2 weeks of calling almost every day and leaving voicemails, he never once called me back and I ended up having to call a completely different location for their manager to help me out. I wouldn't wish this dealership on my worst enemy. read more

I can't say enough good things about the service department at Thornton Chevy. I originally bought my 2014 Ram from Thornton Auto in Dover and had been driving there for service out of convenience. When I last needed an oil change Dover was booked out for like 3 months (!!!!) and I was overdue. The guys and gals at Chevy got me in the next day and took excellent care of me and my truck. When I had a surprise dead battery at work this week, I was lucky enough to get my truck jumped and brought it right to the experts at Thornton Chevy who were able to squeeze me in, change my battery and even had my truck washed and ready for me in less than an hour! Took vehicle back to dealership for warranty work, Afterwards, I was very happy they had fixed the stalling, but they didn't fix anything else I asked. When I got home, I noticed there was some small damage to the door trim, thought no biggie I'll deal with it. I didn't notice the rest of the damage until the next morning, went right back to the dealership. I was told I would have to wait a week for Service manager to return before they'd even talk to me. No call back, I have to call them. The Service manager said he disagreed that they did the damage, but has nothing to prove to me that they didn't do it. So he said they will do NOTHING to fix it. My opinion, you want an honest dealership, go elsewhere. NEVER been treated so rudely and dishonestly at a dealership before, and I've dealt with over 20 dealers in my life. read more

I saw a used truck online at Thornton and figured wth why not try. I knew my credit isn't the best but I'll see what happens. Well I was upside down in a buy here, pay here truck that was worth about $2000 and I owed over $4000 on it. They tried getting me into that truck but it wouldn't work with my bad credit. They explained that its much easier to put me into a new car basically because if I'd default they'd still be able to get their money out of it. Never did a walk around of the vehicle upon purchase, bad on me but damage to vehicle in two places, in which they are fixing one of the two issues. They denied fixing the other damage. My experiences with Thornton Chevrolet have been negative. I purchased a used vehicle and had some repairs that were needed. There was a rattle early on. The service department did not want to put the time and effort into diagnosing this problem. There was no follow up service or desire to stand behind their product. We had a salesman named Adam. I will leave his last name a secret. I still get cards from him so I think he still works there. He really hustled the hell out of us. We test drove a small car, and we like it...but it was smoking after the test drive. The car only had 30k miles, and was 2 years old. It was basically priced as much as it cost when it was new so we were not too keen on the price. Adam literally wouldn't let us leave. He said "we will have it fixed tomorrow. Its no big deal. Leave us a small refundable deposit and we will hold the car for you." We said no to every offer, but he knew we were looking to trade in our old car. He got us inside by saying, "let us appraise the trade in at least". He had a manager test drive our car. The manager stopped by and said "what is wrong with the paint on the fender? It looks like somebody spray painted them". There was nothing wrong with the paint. This is the classic tactic to make you feel like your trade doesn't have the value you saw on KBB. They even low balled the trade offer. They offered us 2k less than KBB trade values. We did manage to get them up to a reasonable offer and then all of the sudden we had paper work in front of us. Like "sign here, and here". We were like, this is for the car that was smoking on the test drive, we don't want to commit to a car that was smoking under the hood. He was like, "no, no this is to hold the car. You don't have to buy it. Just give us like $500 and we will hold it. No obligation". Keep in mind, at this point we had been there for several hours. I think at some point our intelligence left the room and we agreed to give them money to hold a car we didn't want just to get the hell out of there and get home. The next day, he called us to tell us the car wasn't ready because their guys couldn't find time to get to it. I didn't trust the car anyway so I was like, "no big deal". We were already exploring other options. Since the price wasn't very good anyway, we were thinking why not get a new car for slightly more with closer to zero miles and no smoke! It took them two more days to call us, so we fixed our broken mindsets and went in with a new outlook. He (of course) said "the car is fixed, it was just a loose radiator cap. Can you believe that?". In reality I couldn't believe that cause the car in question didn't have a radiator cap. The coolant went strait in the bottle and then into the radiator. My friend owned the exact same model car, so I was a little familiar with it already. We said "we wanted to look at a new car in the same class" and that's what we did. I told him "if you wouldn't have been hustling us we would have bought a new car instead the other day". He said "well its my job to make sure you don't leave the lot without some kind of agreement". Everything else was uneventful except for the fact that we were stuck there for over 8 hours, despite that we had all the trade in paper work done 3 days prior!
