​I have never experienced such a blatant lack of professional integrity. I had a scheduled appointment at Thornhill Hyundai to view a used Corolla. I met with the first associate, who handed me off to a second associate for the test drive. ​While I was literally behind the wheel of the car, the original associate sold the vehicle over the phone to a "sight-unseen" buyer. To add insult to injury, I have strong reason to believe this was a "backdoor" deal to a personal contact for the purpose of resale, rather than a legitimate retail sale to a customer who was physically present. ​This dealership prioritized a "friend" or reseller over a customer with a confirmed appointment who was actively evaluating the car. They wasted my time and gas. If this is how they treat you before they have your money, imagine the "service" you'll get after. Avoid this place if you value honesty and fair dealing. Definitely do not come here, it's a terrible place. When I first got my car, the tube inside the tire mobility kit had exploded, so I removed it from my car and placed it in my closed garage. Since the tire mobility kit was empty, I put the wheel locks inside the tire mobility kit bag. A few months ago, I brought my car in for maintenance. Instead of waiting at the service center, I went to the shopping mall, and while I was there, they called me to ask where the wheel locks were. I told them where I had put them. Now, a nail has punctured my tire, and before going to the tire shop, I wanted to check the wheel locks, but they were not in their place. I noticed that they had replaced it with a new tire mobility kit. I came here and explained the situation, but they denied doing it, implying that I was not telling the truth. My tire has a nail in it, and because I don't have the wheel locks, they cannot remove the tire. They did not provide me with any solution. Do not even step near this place. They caused me significant inconvenience and offered no resolution for it. Now my wheel locks are missing, and I cannot get my tire repaired. read more

Extremely Disappointing Experience at Thornhill Hyundai! I had a terrible experience at Thornhill Hyundai. I went in to inquire about new cars (2024 Elantra and 2024 Sonata), and the entire process was a nightmare. The quote for the new car was filled with hidden fees which surprised me. I understand I have to pay for HST and Freight & PDI. But they are charging around $4300 extra for Elantra and $2600 under administration and accessory fees (excluding HST, Freight & PDI). When I asked the breakdown of the administration and accessory fees, the sales guy stopped answering my questions and insisted I choose a car first. As a customer, I have the right to know what I am paying for before making any decisions! Later on, he took the document papers that I am writing down and left the table. His colleague came back and claimed they made a mistake with the fees. That might be the moment they realized they cannot fool me with the overprice fees. His colleague came up with accessories fees are negotiable and suggested that if I wasn't ready to buy that day, answering my questions wasn't in their best interest. I had an appointment for a a Hyundai recall to have the rust proofing applied because the original rust proofing was applied incorrectly. My appointment was at 11:00 AM. I was promised to be out of there in 1/2 to 1 hour. I drove my car into the service bay and there was NO ONE there manning the service bay. Believe it or not. I then parked my car out front and came into the dealership by the main entrance or showroom. They told me to go back to the service bay and there was still no one there. I left my car there and found my own way to the service area. My service contact was Mohamed. I told him my situation and that I had a 2:00 PM appointment which was unrelated to this car appointment and I had to be there. He then proceeded to tell me that my car wouldn't be ready for at least 2 hours. Not my problem I thought. What happened to our original problem time frame? He said he would call me when the car would be ready. Then I had 3 or 4 voicemails telling me that I needed 2 expensive procedures. He tried to up sell me! The 2 things were premium coolant service (sedan) at $190.00 plus tax and automatic transmission fluid replacement at $249.99 plus tax. Wow! Over $500.00. I didn't take those services. My mechanic told me that my car was fine and was not even due for servicing yet. I picked up my car later without any extra expenses added. What a experience. Absolutely horrible customer service in their service department. We were dealing with Nalini that regularly did not respond to emails or phone calls. We brought our 2019 Santa Fe due to transmission troubles, as we thought it was still under warranty. Unfortunately it was not. The manager Hossam Mohamed was unreachable via email or phone call. So we had to go into the service department to try and speak with him and waited over half an hour, only to be told that this replacement can take over two months to be completed. There was no offer of replacement vehicle only rental for a "discounted price" of $55 a day. After three days waiting to hear if we could get the transmission and when it would come, we decided to take the car elsewhere as they can service our car within a week. Upon pickup they denied not responding to our emails and expected us to pay a fee for inspection. As we told them what the problem was at drop off. There was another couple there with the same issue. Worst costumer service! I have a 2020 Kona which has engine trouble, that will take God knows to fix. I took my car to Thornhill Hyundai service for very loud and weird engine sound, while this car had a recall notice since April 2021 and nobody said anything and instead, they are trying to blame low oil engine or a small nail in the tire! During this time, I have no transportation. My car is under warranty. Hyundai has a strict policy of NOT providing loaner/courtesy cars to their customer for THEIR defects. This is really HORRIBLE customer service. Other manufactures provide loaner cars when there's a defect in their cars. This means for every Hyundai customer who bought a car and is still under warranty, they must foot their own bill for a rental. I don't recommend this company and their services AT ALL! read more

It was a loud squeak... and a friend suggested I go elsewhere, so I found a reputable established garage, they checked it for free and explained what it was... and repaired it, and there's no more squeaking:-) I'm frustrated that I continue to receive letters and emails addressed to my dad. Getting a birthday card in 2016 was upsetting. I wrote an email... they committed to fix it. "I completely understand your frustration, and although it is past the point of apology I would like to extend another apology as we were not able to make the change at the time you requested. With that being said, I have done everything I can to ensure this doesn't happen in the future. I have updated your information with Hyundai Canada, as well as in both of our internal systems to make the change going forward." All I wanted to know was 1) Do they have the part and 2) when will it ship? That was apparently too much for Thornhill to share with me. Their website says they prefer email, so I sent them numerous communications. They rarely if ever responded. I ended up canceling the order but even that became an ordeal. After waiting more than a week for a $183.95 refund to show up on my VISA, the amount restored was $176.81, with no explanation. Worst service department. I've given them chance after chance. I each time they have screwed up the shuttle service. I've been left hanging on hours at end. The service people behind the desk, the shuttle driver and the manager all seem to do whatever they want which causes a lot of confusion. Came in for an oil change but have been waiting from 9:45-2:09 right now because it took them that long to figure out what is wrong with my car. Once they do manage to get their shuttle service shit together, forget ever being able to reach them. They will hang up on u or not return phone calls if u leave them a message. My car is allegedly ready yet the shuttle guy cannot be located as only one is working today (not my problem!) Previously they screwed up my shuttle service too and I had to be somewhere so made them give me a loaner. Thankfully they did but after 3-4 it seems they still can't get their shit together. I think Quentin (I think that's his name) is pretty good and attentive but his friend (older Indian gentleman) not so much! Run the other way. read more

This dealership is part of Phaeton Auto Group. My parents bought a used 2019 Toyota Corolla LE on my behalf at the end of Aug 2019 from this dealership's sister dealership, Richmond Hill Hyundai. However considering my experience, I am recommending that the entire dealership group -- including Thornhill Hyundai -- be avoided. Why? Short story: They screwed up with the legal paperwork, and didn't deliver on everything in the contract, then ghosted me. I asked for reasonable compensation, they gave me a lowball counteroffer, and when I was finally willing to accept on one minor condition, they refused to negotiate AND asked me to sign a release form so that I can't post these truthful reviews. The full story: - The actual sale facilitated by the salesperson GS was seamless, although he did refuse to fill the gas tank up to the max when the car was delivered (rude, but not the end of the world). The car was driven off the lot a week later; no problems with performance 2.5 months later. - After taking ownership, I noticed a discrepancy in the paperwork. The sale agreement stated that the maximum distance driven on the car was ~16000km, while the odometer reading on the safety certificate (dated two days after the bill of sale was drafted and the car had been purchased) was ~18100km. - After taking the car and "closing" the sale, there were also a few other items that I had yet to receive, such as carpet mats and the paint pen (actually signed on in the sale agreement) as well as the full vehicle manual. - Throughout all of September, we attempted to contact GS several times about these two items. GS responded with one one-liner email and more verbal promises to follow up, then communications from him ceased. - By the first week of October (4-5 weeks after the car had been driven off the lot), we escalated to DG, the dealership's sales manager. DG also promised to immediately follow up and personally mail the items, but just like GS, he ghosted us too and all calls would be sent to voicemail. - Approaching late October, I escalated once more to Kiron Singh (KS), the dealership's general manager, mentioning that no response by October 25th would result in escalation to OMVIC and Toyota Canada. KS did respond in time however he revealed that he had just ordered the carpet mats, the manual, and the paint pen (8 WEEKS after the car had been driven off the lot). He also said that the discrepancy in the paperwork was due to an error in the bill of sale, which (in his words) "should have been updated at time of purchase", and therefore the correct distance was the higher one on the safety certificate. - I requested compensation for the error and the poor communication in the form of a $300 gas gift card. The $300 was determined via the difference in average sale price between a 2019 Toyota Corolla LE driven 16000km and driven 18000km. The gift card was requested to avoid the possibility of running into any further problems with the dealership (because honestly I had no more trust in them), however I did mention that I was open to other forms of compensation with similar value (e.g., annual service checkup). - KS made a counteroffer of 4 oil changes. I again asked for the $300 gift card, restated the reasoning, and also mentioned that compensation in the form of oil changes would have to be higher than 4 as I don't live anywhere near Richmond Hill. - KS responded that apparently Richmond Hill Hyundai's policy is to charge $0.05/km, therefore 2000km = $100, and the only option for compensation was via oil changes. - Fed up by this point, I said I would accept the oil changes if they could be done at any dealership within Phaeton Auto Group, including Thornhill Hyundai. However KS said that the oil changes could only be redeemed at Richmond Hill Hyundai, AND ONLY AFTER A FULL AND FINAL RELEASE FORM IS SIGNED. - Upon asking for the terms of the release, I was simply told it was "to ensure that there will be no further action taken towards [them] (no further compensation)," and that "this also includes actions [on] social media." Now, why should you care about my experience if the dealerships are different? Because according to the OMVIC database: - KS is only a Sales Manager, for both Richmond Hill Hyundai AND Thornhill Hyundai. - KS is also listed as a Salesperson for Richmond Hill Toyota. - The General Manager of Richmond Hill Hyundai is officially listed as John Welsh. He is also listed as the General Manager for Richmond Hill Toyota and Thornhill Hyundai. So, again: unless you're willing to risk having a poor experience like mine, DON'T buy from this dealership! Same visit. $880.00 for repairs with no prior estimate. Not clear what was done. No response to two written complaints (the last by receipted registered mail) as owner in Dubai & Manager John Walsh not apparently interested as no response. My complaints are being investigated by The Ministry of Consumer affairs and awaiting mediation. Three days ago needed a replacement key for my daughter told "It has a microchip. It will cost about $250.00 and will be sent away for 2 days leaving me without ability to drive (no key). Went to Canadian Tyre. No micro chip & they immediately cut the key for $10.00 BE VERY CAREFUL AND CHECK EVERYTHING. They everyone seem to be too busy to care, they did not put my name on any waitlist, and I didn't even know if there is one, until later when I followed up for the 4th time and saw that there actually were names on a list (or post it papers). We were emailing with one of the salesman regarding a Genesis and had made an appointment to come in for a test drive on the coming Saturday. On Friday, we were in the area, so decided to stop in to see if we could test drive the car then. (We live in Markham, however my husband being a fan of the general manager's radio show on talk radio we decided to come to Thornhill despite DVNH being close by). Front desk staff were very nice and extremely pleasant. There was a slight wait as the person we had been in communications with, Vincent, was busy, and during this time front staff apologized for the wait and did their best to try and help us. Vincent shortly appeared and we sat down to discuss the vehicle and learned it had just been sold. We wanted to see the new model Genesis and he advised they do not keep any on site. No problem - we asked him to please let us know of any other similar model Genesis that comes available as we are very interested to purchase. He advises that the General Manager is selling his and that we can test drive it the following day. He asks for our phone number and promises to text us with times. By the next afternoon, we have yet to hear from him. We call him and leave a voicemail asking about the test drive as well asking him to kindly let us know of any other slightly used Genesis' come available. We have followed up with email as well ( our original mode of communication with him) - no response. At this point, we would not purchase a vehicle from this dealership. This place is so bad I'm turned off by Hyundai as a brand completely! I had to break the lease of my dad's Elantra lease due to his death knowing full well that along with the car, I'd have to fork over a large sum of money because he wasn't even half way through the agreement. Made an appointment for 1pm, show up at 12:45 and the person I'm supposed to be there isn't even there. In fact, the finance guy doesn't even show up until past 1:30! When he finally gets to his office, he said that he needs to wrap things up and will be another 10 minutes. That 10 minutes he needed became an hour and half. He was well aware of the situation and never showed any empathy for a death in the family. I'm not looking for a shoulder to cry on but he just didn't act like he cared. We met for about 10 minutes to take care of paperwork but in order to finalize the transaction, he needed someone from the shop and a manager to inspect the condition of the car. Of course, no one was available and this became another 45 minute wait. After the review of the car by the manager and report, the finance guy seeing someone else so another 30 minute wait. Finally we get to meet again to finalize the transaction, which meant signing the document and handing over about $12k, I don't know whether this was to save face, being apologetic or remembering something from customer service class (if it exists), he offers a ride home by the shuttle service. Can you take a guess on when the ETA for a shuttle is? Needless to say, it was deep into the afternoon rush hour and the shuttle was nowhere to be found. I gave up and ordered an Uber because I was getting sick of the place. Uber took about 30 minutes to arrive but I was glad to leave. The shuttle never showed up while I was waiting for the Uber btw. Judging by the other reviews I've been reading, one-star is too generous for this place. And from what I've heard from other Hyundai owners and their experiences at other dealerships (not just in the GTA), it's been the same. Bought my car from here which was an average experience since I already made up my mind on the vehicle. However, about 1.5 years later I found that the passenger door latch on my car was loose; I needed a special Torx screwdriver to tighten it. Brought it in and asked to borrow the tool or get it checked out, however the technician says they can't adjust it and for me to go to a body shop. I literally just needed 3 screws tightened. I offer to just use the screwdriver and tighten it myself, and they said no due to "liability reasons". If I'm honest, literally the biggest pile of horseshit and least helpful service department ever. Not to mention the fact that I didn't get service until half an hour later than scheduled and only after a sales guy stepped in and prioritized it. I ended up going to my regular Midas location, asked for the screwdriver, and the guy tightened the screws and door became good as new. Literally all of 10 minutes. AVOID SERVICE DEPARTMENT! Why? 1. They claimed the entire throttle body on our car needed replacement and that the sensor "can't" be replaced on our car model. That was a lie and another Hyundai dealer replaced sensor for $40 bucks (versus 500+ for part) 2. Even through we told them upfront our car was American, they tried to run software updates that didn't work and then they couldn't reinstall the old software. Ultimately, we had to TOW OUR VEHICLE TO THE U.S. AT OUR OWN EXPENSE to get reprogrammed after they sat on it doing nothing for days. 3. They gave us a complimentary car rental during the process (only positive thing...well so we thought), only to call us over a month after we had left the dealership and settled the bill to try and tell us we needed to pay for the car rental and that they never told us it was free. Absolutely unacceptable service and massive waste of our money, time, and energy. Very unprofessional place with zero ability to take ownership of mistakes. read more

I brought my car for service. When at traffic light in drive waiting , foot on brake pedal, rpm drops from about 700 to below 500 for a second. Engine knocks hard and steering wheel vibrating. Hyundai santa fe sport 2017. This issue acquired 5 times in 2-3 weeks, it's rare. No codes in history or check engine light when it does it. I described this issue to service advisor . He told me if they can't find the issue I won't be charged and if it it's a warranty i won't be charged either. Of course Techncian couldn't find the issue. Service advisor before giving me the keys gave me the invoice to pay $72, he told me Techncian spent time and i have to pay. I told him " You sad that if Technician won't fix it i am not going to pay" he replied to me " this is our procedure , Techncian spent time and i have to pay, if you have any concerns speak to Manager" I asked for Manager, he told me they already left lol. Went back to then because of an issue with my radio - something is broken -with excessive noise making the am radio useless. Car is still under warranty. They have no clue and will not attempt anything because Hyundai Canada won't pay them. Spoke many times with Hyundai Canada and they blame the dealership. The worst service at any car dealership that I have taken my car to for an oil change. I arrived at 10:20 for my 10:30 appointment. My car was finally finished at 1:20 - that is 3 hours for a simple oil change. I bought my car there in November 2017, even though I am from out of town, I thought I should take it there for my first service on the car. Never again. I complained while I was waiting, and complained when I finally got the car. I received no feedback on how my car was doing mechanically etc. The fellow told me that gee they overbooked the appointments. Really, I was not the one who overbooked them. What are they stupid and can not see that they put ten people into the same time slot. Really there were at least ten people there to check in the same time. Idiots. read more

I want to share with you my recent experience at Thornhill Hyundai and how bitterly disappointed I am in the service I received or didn't receive to be more exact. I went to Thornhill Hyundai so I could get a lift to pick up the car when finished. Typically I have gone to Toronto Hyundai Bought the part from the parts department (Hyundai 2 way remote starter) the week before my appointment. Went to the service department and spoke to Ed. He booked us in for Friday Oct 25th at 9 am. I brought the car there with the receipt for the part. I was directed to a service adviser who indicated that he didn't know what to do then said we will take care of you. He took a copy of the receipt for the part. I brought it up at 8 so I could get a ride to work from my husband. I was told by Ed the week before it would take a couple of hours and I should be able to pick it up by 12 pm. By 1:15 I had not heard anything about the car. I could not get through to anyone to tell me what was happening and after several times trying to call during my work day and leaving multiple messages with no return call, I turned to a colleague for a ride to Hyundai She drove me up there at 2:15 pm and they hadn't even started on the car. They said they needed a 3rd party to come and install it. I asked why did Ed book me in for 9 and said it would be ready by 12 if they couldn't install this remote. Ed was off today. The service adviser said that the person who installs this wasn't there. I said why would they book an appointment if no one was there. They said they could not explain what happened. They totally messed up and I have never been so unhappy with service in my life. I told them I would need a ride back to pick up the car. They said they would get an Uber. My friend started to drive me home and I got a message that the Uber was there. I went back to tell them I don't need the Uber now, I need it to come back to pick up the car. I got a call around 5 pm to pick up the car, an Uber came to get me and everyone was gone but my service advisor. I got the car and tried the remote. I wasn't sure how it worked and either was the advisor but the car started and I went home. To make things worse when I got home and looked at the card from the remote it said that it was a 1 way remote. We had ordered and paid for a 2 way remote specific to 2015 accent. I don't know if this will damage the engine as it was not the part I ordered or paid for. I noticed the error, no one from Hyundai did. I called Saturday to the parts department to see if I indeed ordered and paid for a 2 way remote. I believe his name was Ken and he assured me that I did. This confirmed my worst fears after a really frustrating day, the wrong part was installed. I did not get what I paid for and could not reach a manager over the weekend to resolve this. Ken advised me to call Monday morning. I had to waste more time trying to contact someone to sort this out and again come up there, drop my car off and be without a car for another day. I left messages over the weekend and completed the survey that was emailed to me and heard nothing back. I was going to call again on Monday but received a call from Ed a service advisor. I never heard back from any management to discuss this situation although several frustrating messages were left to more than one manager including Mimi. Ed asked me to book a time when he was there. He was off Tuesday morning so he wanted to be there when I came in so we made it Thursday. I dropped it off Thursday morning and tried to explain to him what happened previously. I don't know if he remembered our conversation from Monday morning. He said he would try to have it ready by 12 and would call. Again I received no call back from anyone with an update. Called and left a message for Ed with an alternate phone number if needed at 12:40. Never heard back. Called again and they told me Ed left for the day. I heard later there was a medical emergency. I understand that, but is there no one else at that service centre who can take over his clients? Finally after calling again asked to speak to a manager. I was passed to Richard and got his voicemail. Waited for a bit. Called again and was told he will call me back but was with a customer. Finally spoke to him and he looked into it and called me back. Of course no surprise the car was not completed or started again!!! They sent me a rental car at 2:45 so again 2 days without a car until now. Richard assured me the car would be ready next day at 12 but again no call and finally an email to tell me it would be ready for 4. Got the car and was given 150.00 credit for service (I have no proof of this as it is supposed to be on my file) but this seems more like a punishment than compensation as it means I have to deal with this service department again in the future. read more

Be prepared for a run around and additional, unnecessary trips to finalize a deal. Bought a demo car in October 2013 which means that it was used. Was told that it's not used but new. It had almost 9000 kms on it. Was charged for freight and air and for tires. While not against the law it's not best practice to do this. Check out OMVIC. Buyer beware! Also if you do have a problem with the service department don't expect that anyone will follow up with you and actually try to discuss your issue with you directly. I wanted to buy roof racks and came and got them installed and they weren't what I wanted. I tried to call and discuss my issue with someone in management but no one would talk to me directly and I was always told that they were in meetings. One manager did actually call me back once and left me a message with his cell phone but when I called him back he never answered and his voicemail wasn't connected. When I returned to the service department to get the roof racks uninstalled the advisor said "I know that you've made a complaint about me." I said "Uh no not about you but the service yes. " This made me very uncomfortable because I felt penalized for trying to get my concern addressed. When we were leaving someone stopped by and never introduced himself but gave us a t-shirt and a tote bag. Yes a free t-shirt totally makes up for the fact that no one here actually gives a crap about actually talking to you if you have an issue and free swag makes everything better. One of worst services I have so far encountered. I went in to trade in my existing car and get new one. During first meeting they gave me a ballpark figure for my car. The day I went in (4 days later) to sign paperworks for new car, they reduced the price of my current car by $4000 approximately. And they never see you on time. I made an appointment but the sales rep got stuck up with another customer and saw me only an hour later. I am not sure how you get stuck up for an hour when you already have an appointment with someone. Then what's the point of making an appointment? I could have just walked in. Stay away from this dealer. They are not upfront and never stick to what they have said in previous meetings. read more
