SimplyTire was just as angry as we were at the situation. They highlighted the dangers of such old tires: the rubber breaks down and the risk of a slow leak or blow out increases drastically. This posed a danger to us, as well as others on the road! Thank goodness my dad doesn't drive on the highway. SimplyTire installed tires manufactured less than 5 months prior, and showed us the DOT and date code for each tire! They were considerate of our time and our situation. Without an appointment he lifted my car to take a look at what was wrong and proceeded to show me, in detail (and plain english) what was wrong with my brakes, exhaust etc. I knew I needed brake and exhaust work, and all other mechanics I visited gave me a rough estimate without explaining how, why or what specific work was required. Dave was happy to have me watch as he inspected my car, and then gave me a very fair estimate. When I picked up my car the next day, the final bill was actually less than he estimated, plus he changed the air filter (something he noticed that needed to be done while he was working on the car) Definitely a positive experience with a trustworthy mechanic in Toronto. Not the closest most convenient location to me (I live downtown), but just north of Finch Subway station (either walk or bus). I'll definitely be seeing Dave again next time my car has any trouble, and will be recommending him to family and friends.
