I am incredibly concerned that a man so unhinged as Dr Thong is allowed to practice medicine. His behaviour would get him fired from McDonalds; it's outrageous he is in charge of the health of taxpayers. He is rude, he doesn't listen, he seems utterly dispassionate about his patients, his ego is more important than the issue at hand, he decides in advance what his diagnosis is going to be, and he speaks over you. I'm legitimately worried about his mental health and its impact on vulnerable people. I'm fortunate that getting another referral to someone more professional was straightforward, but some family doctors are reluctant to give two referrals to the same specialty in fear of "doctor shopping." I encourage you to find another specialist, because you will certainly want a second opinion if you go to Dr Thong for a first. read more

I Had a phone visit today, about an on going ear problem. (OUCHY OUCHY) With Dr Thong and was asked " how long have you had this problem?" I replied " Its been going on for over 20 years off and on, I was abruptly cut off and told " I don't need to hear your life story, just tell me about this recent time!" I was cut off several more times, being told abruptly " Your not understanding my question, can you stop and just answer what I'm asking?" I was cut off several more times, being scolded, and told, I was not answering the question. I was explaining the only way I knew, but not the way he wanted to hear it, what a jerk! I was then asked to describe where the lump on my ear was, I said "on the Front of my ear on the outside but under the skin the size of a pea." Dr Thong then said " I didn't ask the size! you need to answer my simple quetion where is the lump?!" I said "at the very front of the ear canal on my cheek side" He said " Your Not Understanding What I'm asking You To Describe!?" He then became so agitated as I was trying virtually by phone to describe where the lump was. Why?! it was not recorded on the Chart (showing where the lump was, from the previous visit to office! makes no sense) Maybe he ( Dr Thong just didn't check it! unprofessional! He also asked if I ground my teeth and also insinuated it was sinusitis, I said it might be true, but I also have an actual lump, which the other doctor said was a cyst when he examined it. Definately not going to let him treat me!! The worst Bedside manner ever! Arrogant and very Rude!! He actually loves and prefers the ICBC cases, which make these Doctors more money with the reports and court appearances etc.. He represented me for ICBC 20 plus years ago and was eager with my claim! Dr Thong doesn't know yet, but I'm officially Firing him! I will personally no longer be employing him for services needed, nor will I be giving any good references! These Doctors get paid from us, we employee them. read more

I planned to stay in Vancouver for a couple of months and wanted to check if I can do a nose surgery during my stay here. All the ENTs that I have reached are very professional and told me the cost and wait time immediately. However, when I reached to Dr Chee, the receptionist kept insisting me to meet the doctor and pay the consultation fee before revealing any information. I have checked my nose with several doctors and am pretty sure that I need a surgery. I do not need to check again, all I need to know is if he can perform the surgery within the timeframe of my stay here. I do not mind to pay the "private huge bill" that the receptionist indicated, as long as the doctor is professional. Unfortunately, the receptionist lost her temper and started yelling at me after I told her I may not be able to wait for half a year. I tried to be nice and calm but she sounded like a kindergarten kid losing her favorite toy. If this is the way they treat their potential patient, I'm worried about the quality and professionalism of the service that the doctor provides. read more

One of the worst medical experiences of my adult life. This doctor is arrogant and unpleasant and does not listen to the patient's experience. He decided within moments what was wrong with me without truly listening and scolded me for using terminology other physicians had used in relation to my medical issues. I wish I could give zero stars. read more

I just talked with Dr. Chee Thong over the phone. I have waited for several months for this call. During our conversation, his arrogance and impatience made me doubt if I was talking with a doctor. English is my second language and I am not familiar with medical vocabulary, so there were a couple of times I asked him to excuse me and repeat his questions. He sighed in despair at my stupidity. When I explained my syndromes, he always lost his patience if my explanation is longer than one sentence. I knew I was wasting his precious time, but I have never talked with a health service professional like this. read more

Dr. Thong was really good with me. I was a total nervous wreck and stressed about the appointment and he was both reassuring and patient. I'm super grateful that I got in to see this doctor. My hearing was diminished quite suddenly over the last few weeks and I couldn't seem to clear it up by myself. I had no idea what was wrong. I managed to get a referral for this doctor and waited almost a week for the appointment. I didn't expect him to actually treat me on my first appointment but sure enough I left with my hearing back! I was seriously amazed, (totally shaken up from the whole scary procedure, but amazed.) I'm a very nervous person and he dealt with me in a manner that he should be proud of. Thank you Dr Thong. Okay, no joking about his name ;) read more

DO NOT GO TO DR. THONG Dr Thong was one of the most unprofessional, arrogant and aggressive people I've ever met. He refused to listen to what I had to say about MY OWN medical condition. More often then not he interrupted me, I've read a lot of reviews on him and most of them say that he will jump to conclusions and base it off your career and diagnose you based on that. I went in for my tonsils and he said that it was because I worked in a restaurant that they were inflammed......... WORST DR I'VE EVER BEEN TO. read more

Dr. Thong is very personable, did a really good job to explain the procedure with me using medical pictures posted on the wall. I would be happy to see him again if required. read more

Absolutely horrible. I was told that I had swollen tonsils a few months ago and was told to see a doctor if they started to bother me. Eventually they did, so I went and saw my GP. After actually looking at them in an in person appointment, she agreed that it was swollen more than normal and referred me to Dr. Thong. After about 3 minutes of an over the phone appointment, he basically said that larger tonsils were normal and that I was fine, completely disregarding me telling him that they were causing me a ton of discomfort. He had not even seen them. I felt completely brushed off and ignored and him saying that there was absolutely nothing wrong when one of my tonsils was significantly larger than the other and had never been in the past. He was incredibly arrogant and did not take into account anything I had to say, telling me it was normal when it had never been normal my entire life. He even said to me that tonsils shrink as you get older. Then why have mine simply been getting larger? If I could give zero stars I would. You want to be able to trust medical personnel, but this experience has given me zero confidence. Now I am left feeling brushed off and incredibly frustrated. read more

Called to cancel an appointment this morning. Got lectured and yelled at by the receptionist. read more

I had a phone appointment with Dr. Thong today. I had written & submitted a full summary of my symptoms and history to Dr. Thong's receptionist (incompetent, unprofessional, inefficient). Not only had he not read it, he would not let me summarize it for him. He interrupted me every time I tried to provide information. He didn't listen to anything I said to him. Based on the results of my CT scan, he had already made up his mind on a diagnosis without listening to any other information. Whenever I tried to speak he kept repeating "I'm the doctor here!" I wasn't heard. I wasn't allowed to speak. I was dismissed. He repeated many times that he didn't have the time for "all of this information" and he actually hung up on me with no follow-up whatsoever. I had read similar experiences in the reviews but I was desperate for help so I decided to give him a chance and make up my own opinions on Dr. Thong. Please trust me when I say, please get on another waiting list to get help. This WILL be a waste of time for you. PS: I can't believe he's billing the health care system for that useless 5 minute telephone call. read more

I went to Dr. Thong for a hearing issue. Dr. Thong had not read my file prior to the appointment which included a CT scan. When he started to ask me basic questions, I referred him to the CT scan and the hearing clinic results. He said he didn't need them and wouldn't look at it. He was very abrupt, cut me off, and determined immediately that the issue with my hearing was that I ground my teeth because my shoulders were tight. I told him that the tension in my shoulders was diagnosed already by another practitioner and was due to my occupation. He told me not to speak. I walked out of the appointment. I then checked in with my dentist who said it was very unlikely I grind my teeth - I don't have distinct pattern on my teeth or any tenderness etc in my jaw. Dr. Thong is the worse, by far, doctor I have ever interacted with. Check out rate MD.com for other reviews read more

Just Horrible. Dr. Chee is Rude, Arrogant and Aggressive person. This is one of the worst experience ever. Also the receptionist is also Hostil, Nasty and Pathetic woman as well. This doctor had never listened to me and just made fun of me. When I told him to be nice, he yelled at me to scared and kick me out. He called me stupid and insulted me saying that I have a mental issue. The receptionist kept bothering me and shoo away me with a big smiling. This clinic is just joke. Please don't go. read more

For over 30 years I was left withe impression my right ear hearing loss was permanent. Prior to Dr Thong, all I was offered was a hearing aid to solve my handicap. Dr Thong thoroughly examined my condition and set up a surgery date as soon as possible. Today I have been given hope I haven't had before! Thank you Dr Thong and his receptionist was extremely helpful and friendly. read more

This doctor was so rude and I believable. I never leave reviews but this merits. Stay away! I went in for trouble breathing due to scar tissue in my nose. He flat out asked me how much cocaine I was doing! I do not do drugs ever. He didn't let me get a word in, and didn't believe my discomfort existed. He dismissed me completely and blamed what other doctors have seen as physical blockages, as anxiety. The gall to shame what he perceives as a mental disorder and make that the cause for physical ailments is lazy and prejudice. Never again. Also he has more golf certificates decorating his walls than medical certificates. Not to mention, the receptionist is horrible to deal with. read more

Horrendous business etiquette. This doctor's office overbooks patients to the point that it is so crowded in his waiting room that there were no more chairs and I had to go to the building lobby to sit. The rude and obnoxious receptionist was still booking patients even though they were an hour behind schedule and lying to the patients by telling them the wait would be 15 to 20 minutes. In my opinion, they are milking Medical Services Plan. Fed up, I left after waiting OVER an hour for a scheduled appointment. That's unacceptable. I do not ever have to wait that long for my family doctor, my chiropractor, nor my orthopedic surgeon -- all who have busy practices. The whole point of an appointment is a mutually agreed upon time to meet. Now I can accept waiting a little while but over an hour is unacceptable. I may as well go to a walk-in clinic if a scheduled time is so random. After receiving a voicemail asking where I was, I phoned the receptionaist and told her I had been waiting an hour, couldn't wait any longer so I left. Rather than apologizing for the inconvenience she gave me arrogant and obnoxious backtalk and hung up. Ask yourself: do you and your health really deserve such bad service? Find another ENT doctor. Dr Chee is far from the only ENT doctor out there. Furthermore, if you think I'm being a difficult customer then go look on RATEADOCTOR.com, search for Dr. Thong Chee, and you'll see a lot of other dissatisfied patients. It's fine time that the medical establishment here in Canada put aside their entitled arrogance and realize that they are here to serve us; not the other way around. read more

Dr.Thong was referred to me by a new walk in clinic I am not a fan of (my GP recently retired), and when I read the reviews for Dr.Thong, I was not impressed. But wow, did he prove everyone wrong. I met him this morning and he was great: professional, courteous, patient, asked lots of questions regarding my condition, even cracked a joke. I would certainly recommend him. I am a caucassian woman in my 40's, so definietly a minority of his clients as everyone in the waiting area was asian over 50 years old, and he did not make me feel uncomfortable read more
