Dr. Thomsen is highly caring and always on top of the latest research. She cares for my husband and mother as well as myself. We have been her patients for decades and she always take the time to listen to our issues. The office staff is awesome and always follows up when needed. After, many years of seeing her it became appearant that she's impatient and annoyed with her patients. I had been deployed and left my 2 year old for an entire year and when I came back to my job everything had changed. Although my job was protected as a reservist things were not right and I felt like something was up at work. I had a medical episode where something happened that had never happened before and Emergency told me to follow up with her. It ended up being a massive migraine and I was on the verge of a breakdown. It was strokelike symptoms which absolutely scared me so bad I went to Foothill Pres. When I came back to her and she also had no answers ....I said I feel like I need to know the cause and she was irritated and said "fine, Ill send you for tests your going to do about 3 of them!" Like it was a punsihment for digging into it. After seeing her for 10 years at least, I felt that she should have noticed something was very wrong. She not seem to think leaving my family and a new baby for a year and returning back to my original life right at the onsite of Covid and isolation wasnt of any concern and that things at my employer were the cause of me not managing my own stress (not the case). Well despite this event happening in May 2020 I was laid off in December 2020 confirming something WAS wrong at my job and due to Covid I was part of a mass layoff....so knowing this my employer had been excluding me from meetings knowing my time was short. She was the hugest letdown. She was like my extended family at one time and someone I really trusted. As a healthy military reservist my sudden issues where extremely annoying to her. She wrinkles her face up, and snaps back with snippy comments-then other times she is as sweet as can be. This however was not one of those times when I was on the verge of a crisis. That was cruel and mean...and I got to the point I never knew who I would deal with on that day. I would not ever send a loved one to her if she can just cut you off, and say...ok well Ive got to go Ive been with you almost an hour! read more

I heard great things about this doctor in the past. I was choosing new insurance and noticed her, it said she was taking new patients. But when I called to be seen I was told that there is a waiting list for new patients. There are 200+ patients ahead of me on this list. I guess I'm going to have to look for another doctor because I can't wait behind 200 people just to make an appointment. She should not be advertising that she takes new patients read more

I haven't been feeling well for last couple of days after returning from an out of town trip. I wanted to get a Covid test before contracting Dr. Thomsen's office and luckily the results were negative. I called the office at approximately 3:00pm asking for a prescription refill from a couple of years ago when I had the same symptoms. I spoke to her staff and explained what I needed. Two hours later, I was picking up my prescription! Dr. Thomsen has always given me the best of care! I literally depend on her to keep me healthy for my grandkids. Good luck getting in touch with anyone in the office and if you do get the answering service and leave a message they will not call you back. My mom requested her medical records almost 3 weeks ago and after calling to see what was going on with them was told that the request was sitting on doctor's desk waiting for her to go through them to see what she wanted to send WTF. I called and asked the receptionist what was the problem and why was it taking so long, she had no answer that I was going to accept so she transferred me to Irene and she was trying to give me that same story but I wasn't having it, told her that she needed to call me back today because we need those records by Friday. I will follow up with them in the am if I don't get a call back and when I do get the records I will go through them with a fine tooth comb to make sure that they are all there. read more

Dr. Thomsen has been my elderly mother's primary care doctor for several years. My mom suffers from Parkinson's and a history of heart disease and so sees several different specialists. I began to have doubts about Dr. Thomsen when my mom's cardiologist faxed Dr. Thomsen reports of her complete cardiac workup and Dr. Thomsen couldn't find it because as she explained, she gets hundreds of faxes a week. I had to pick the records up from the cardiologist and hand deliver them to Dr. Thomsen's office. I'm an RN and know the importance of accurate and complete record keeping. This was the first red flag as to quality of care that my mom might be receiving. There were several times when I took my mom for her check-ups with Dr. Thomsen that we waited in excess of an hour before we were seen. It didn't seem that they were over-booked, or that the doctor was called out for an emergency. That brings me to today's appointment. A week ago my mom took a very nasty fall. She hit her head on a wooden dresser and split her head open. We spent the night in the ER having her assessed neurologically, getting staples in her scalp to close the wound, and having a CT to rule out brain bleed or swelling. Since coming home her biggest complaint has been a terribly sore and stiff neck. This has been treated with ice packs, a cervical collar, light massage, and analgesic/anti inflammatories. Yesterday she went to her physical therapist at Casa Colina who sees her twice a week to help her with ambulation due to her Parkinson's. She requested that we get a referral for physical therapy for her neck. She made a 3:30 appointment today with Dr. Thomsen. We signed in at 3:25. There was one patient in the waiting room when we arrived, an elderly lady in a wheelchair who was also accompanied by her daughter. The daughter told me that the doctor was running behind--that they had a 3:00 appointment. I also had my mom in a wheelchair because of the neck pain. Very shortly thereafter they were called back to an exam room. Another patient came in at 4:00. She waited about 10 minutes before she was called back. We were told that they only had one exam room that was wheelchair accessible. The daughter and mom in the wheelchair came back into the waiting room briefly and then left. After over 1-1/2 hours we were told to go to the exam room (which is out the waiting room door and down the hallway). The girl at the front desk, nursing assistant?, came in, took BP and put a pulse oximeter on her finger. She volunteered that the lady who had the 4:00 appointment was still waiting and that my mom would be seen next. I said that I saw the woman in the wheelchair and her daughter leave a long time ago. She said that they just left five minutes ago. I repeated that they'd left a long time ago. I said so you're telling me that they were here for nearly an hour and a half and that they lady who came in at 4:00 hasn't been seen yet? She said yes. I opened the door to the hallway and saw the 4:00 appointment leave the office and walk down the hall towards the elevators. It's now after 5:00 and the cleaning crew is coming down the hallway to clean the offices. I closed the door and sat down. That's when Dr. Thomsen came in. She literally was in the room with us for five minutes. She didn't offer muscle relaxants or pain medication. She didn't apologize for the ridiculous wait time. I told her that her staff member had lied to my face and that I don't know if that is how she normally handles things in her office, but that I don't appreciate being lied to and that when things like that happen it affects my perception of her integrity and the quality of her practice. Still no apology. When we left I stopped by the waiting room and told the girl that I knew she lied to me, that i didn't appreciate it, and that I had spoken to Dr Thomsen about it. She said that she had spoken to her about it, too. I said "About what? That you had lied to me?" She said, "I don't know what you're talking about" then she raised her hand and waved at me like she thought she was a Rose Parade princess, smirked and said "Good-bye have a nice day". It is true that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. There are plenty of primary care physicians who practice quality medicine, care for their patients, and have staff who behave in a professional manner. I'd suggest that you call one of them. UPDATE: A few days after this experience, due to her intractable pain, I took my mom back to the hospital and requested a cervical CT. It turned out that she had a broken neck. And shortly thereafter I received a certified letter from Dr. Thomson advising that she would no longer be provriding medical services and to have my mom's new physician request her records within 30 days of the date of her letter. I, of course, would never take my mom back there, but it just proved once again how unconcerned and dispassionate she is. read more

I've seen her a few times and was extremely frustrated with my most recent visit. Although the doctor is very nice, I waited almost an hour past my appointment time to see the her. Then she spent less than 8 MINUTES (I timed it) in the room with me, and didn't answer all my questions before she bustled out (apparently she needed to leave early that day). She was supposed to write two prescriptions for me but as I was leaving the nurse only mentioned one. I explained and she promised to let the doctor know to write the other one before leaving. Well that never happened, I never received the second prescription. Received the bill and called them to explain my frustrations where the receptionist was incredibly rude and basically said I was still required to pay the $86 (after insurance) for the 8 minute doctor visit. Its not like I was trying to get out of paying, I just want service worth paying for! I explained that the visit didn't even help my problem (my ear is popping and hurts) and she told me to go buy some ear drops. Completely done with this crap and I hope the doctor sees this and finds a better receptionist who could have at least handled the situation with some class. read more

Terrible customer service. Office staff are not helpful and don't care. Doctor does not care about her patients. I scheduled my appointment far in advance. They sent me a confirmation email. Three days before my appointment a woman who would not give me her name called me to tell me they need to cancel my appointment in April I told her no my appointment is this week and I took time off work to come in. She said Dr Thomsen said you haven't been here in a while and you need to go on a waitlist! They should have never have scheduled me if that was the case!!! If the doctor cared about her patients she would never cancel my appointment after it was already confirmed and I took the time off. I am considering taking legal action against them for this terrible treatment. So sad that they treat people this way but if a patient cancels they charge a no show fee or make patients wait over an hour to see the doctor. read more

Out of all the doctors I have seen this one was like talking to a elementary school nurse. I personally feel that the internet is more knowledgeable than anything coming from her expertise. Lisa Thomsen, MD is a Family Medicine Specialist* in Glendora, CA and has many years of experience in the medical field. She graduated from University of California School of Medicine - San Francisco medical school in 1987. She is affiliated with Emanate Health Partners that includes Foothill Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Thomsen cares for people of all ages, at all stages of life rather than focusing on the treatment of one disease or patient population. When necessary, she will provide referrals for conditions that require the expertise of a specialist. My overall patient experience is broken up into components that I use to evaluate my physicians. The first component would have to be physician thoroughness. This actually starts at check in. Her staff is courteous, polite and very efficient. After collecting any information regarding changes in my medical insurance information they collect any necessary copay and then offer me the opportunity to sit in the waiting area. Dr. Thomas is a single practitioner and has to handle her scheduled patient load but must also deal with patient emergencies so the time it takes to see the Doctor can vary. This is to be expected and I understand the complications of sudden emergencies. When it's my turn I'm taken to a private room and my temperature is taken, I'm weighed and my blood pressure is checked. If I'm there for a physical I'm asked to get into a smock that makes the exam go more quickly and then I wait to see the Doctor. When Dr. Thomsen enters the examination room I have her complete attention and she is very professional. If I've had a blood test she goes over the results with me and makes sure that I understand what everything means. A printed copy of the results is given to me for my records.. The next element is their ability to answer my questions. Dr. Thomsen has always answered my most penetrating questions completely. She doesn't pull any punches, I hear what I need to hear and I appreciate that. My next element addresses the clarity of her instructions to me when there is something I have to do to get better. She has a wonderfully dry sense of humor and when she pointed out that I needed to get a Tetanus booster shot and I made noises like it might take me time to go get it she talked about how horrible it was to die of lock jaw. Attention focused, I got the shot on my way home at our local pharmacy. Follow-up is my next most important element and Dr. Thomsen is wonderful in her follow-up and follow-through. I recently needed to visit a pain management specialist and a neurosurgeon and Dr. Thomsen made a follow up appointment while I was still in her office. My next element has to do with the amount of time the doctor spends with me as the patient. Dr. Thomsen is very good about being with me for as long as it takes to accomplish everything that must be done without making me feel rushed through the process and finally I take the doctor's attitude towards me and my medical issues as a very important measure of the physician's performance. Dr. Thomsen is actually fun to visit. She makes seeing a doctor a valuable experience and she never talks down to me and she never makes me feel stupid or ill at ease. If something comes up during my visit that requires her to leave the room she doesn't share anything about another patients distress but she does make it clear that she must see to a pressing problem and I've never felt like I was left dangling while someone was treated ahead of me except in cases where it was clear that there was an emergency. Do not go to this doctor or take a loved one to her ! This office is a joke. First of all her office staff is very rude, every time you ask them for something their level of annoyance is greatly felt, even so, that is the least of it. Secondly the wait times are ridiculous. Thirdly the level of care is offensive compared to other doctors I've seen who truly care about their Patients. My adult daughter was feeling extremely ill, she went to see Dr Thomsen who ordered some lab work. We specifically told her that Lupus runs in our family and we needed to know if my daughter was having a lupus flare, she agreed to do labs for lupus. A week went by and we called for results, as usual the staff was was lukewarm and said no labs. A week later we called again, we were told that the lab results were on Dr Thompson's desk and she would be calling shortly. We waited and waited. A few days later we called again, the receptionist said "wait ! She didn't call you ?!!" I said no and she proceeded to tell me that Dr Thomsen had left for her vacation and we would have to wait as they could not give us those labs. Can you believe it !!!! My daughters positive results for lupus sitting on her desk and she happily went on her vacation, not a care in the world !!! My daughter was so ill !! When she got back she knew she had screwed up badly and coldly sent my daughter her labs in the mail. No explanations, no apologies. We never went back to her again. I waited a long time to write this review because I was so angry and so upset that I needed time. Any doctor who goes on vacation leaving positive results for a dangerous illness on her desk should not be practicing medicine. Since then I have heard many complaints about this doctor, she assembly lines her patients like cattle and it's all about the money. She has so many faxes and results coming in that she does not get to them and inform her patients. Good doctors send over information about patients and she never sees them. Do yourself a favor , skip this doctor ! I would not take my dog to see this doctor. read more

Dr. Lisa Thomsen is simply the best. She is thorough, listens intently, is exceptionally bright, a champion for the patient when most needed, and a solid human being. Yes, the wait is long in her office; she is a sole practitioner and when you are in consultation with her you feel like you are the only patient in her office. She must live in the 'now' because we have never felt she is thinking about what she has to do next. She is truly someone who not only took an oath to serve and help heal, but must have taken an oath to rally for change in the system. Outstanding doctors over the years we have been blessed with. I have been a patient of Dr. Thomsen's for more than 25 years. She takes excellent care of me snd my family, often solving difficult problems for us. She is kind, compassionate, very well-read. She has trained her staff to deliver excellent care also. I rarely have to wait long, but occasionally I have had to. On the other hand, when I need extra care she never makes me feel rushed, and takes as much time as I need. Her office is clean and comfortable. She has a good relationship with other doctors and several of them have nothing but positive things to say about her. She is always available to us. When my husband became quite ill late one night, she gave the ER doctor advice and was there to see my husband first thing the next morning. I consider Dr. Thomsen to be a friend to me and my family and I don't know what we would do without her. Her attention to every detail literally saved my life when she discovered what turned out to be a precancerous melanoma, urging me to see a dermatologist as soon as possible. I have known Dr. Thomsen for more than 8 years as my family physician. Dr Thomsen is the most compassionate doctor, with the thought of the patient at all times. She wants the best for the patient and really works to understand and methodically goes about identifying the issues.
