Visiting southern Texas from out of state, and our rental car developed a soft tire from a screw in the tread ... pumped it up but couldn't swap on the spare as the rental jack was awol. The rental co. proposed to deal with it by sending road service from over 100 miles away (???) so we opted for a local tire shop. The Thomson Tire crew had our tire off, unmounted for inspection, plugged, and back on ready to roll in 10 minutes: with a very reasonable bill. Horrible horrible horrible!!! while in town for my fathers memorial service, my cousins wanted to change brand new tires from a car my mother never drives to the car that she always used to keep her safe on the road. Well, they ruined a brand new tire when changing it to the other rim. They said that the damage was already there, but why would they change a damaged tire to another rim if it was already ruined? They wanted us to purchase a new tire from them, plus pay for the original switch! The owner then started yelling obscenities because he knew he was wrong, even his worker said he was wrong, but he quickly made that employee to sweep outside. He threatened to call the police if we did not leave his property and told my family who was trying to do is a favor during this difficult time, to "Go F themselves" as they were walking away. my mother was in the car crying because she had done business with Thompson tires for over 20 years and actually was friends with the owner whose son now runs the business. Do not use this tire service!! they will rip you off!! I'm sure the one other person who wrote a review after mine is friends with the owner and trying to save face. Absolutely repugnant experience. Let's start off by saying the owners have possibly the worst attitude I've ever seen towards customers. They couldn't care less of your problems and anything and everything that may cost them money or point to a fault of their own, they accept ZERO liability for. I had bought a new set of tires from them and within a year the tire completely fell apart. I thought this may have been covered by warranty or by Yokohama itself, WRONG. Thompson infact sold me a lower-tier (ply) tire on my vehicle which also turned out to be USED when I bought it and they claimed it was BRAND NEW. I confronted them with irrefutable evidence on my claim from Yokohama directly and they refused to reimburse me for the cost or accept any responsibility. Not only that, they had absolutely awful attitude and zero professionalism in handling it. The tire in question blew out on the road and could have killed me, but I guess all they care about is cutting corners and selling USED tires of the wrong type. They did admit it was the wrong type, but failed to mention it when I barely bought it? Being tire "experts" and having an established business well over a decade, it would seem they'd know what type of tire to use on a vehicle, no? I guess not. So in summary, they cut corners, have very deceptive/unethical business practices, accept zero liability for errors on their part and have absolutely atrocious attitudes toward customers. I regret going to this business, wasted my money buying a new tire because of outright lies and incompetence and risked my life because this tire blew out while on the highway. read more

After my poor experience with another repair facility in town, I started taking my cars to Thompson Tire Center. They are reliable, reasonable and thorough. I had them take care of some of the shoddy work that had been accomplished by another Del Rio auto repair business. They fixed the problem, quickly and correctly. They WERE sent the wrong parts once. I KNOW it was not the fault of Thompson, because I was standing there when he ordered the correct 13 inch rotors from his supplier. As soon as he got the incorrect parts in, he called me and gave me a revised completion date. (TOMORROW!) He had the car done and done RIGHT I never had any issues with Thompson and always had complete confidence in the work they did.
