I had such an incredible experience at the Thompson Madrid. I stayed here on two separate stays during my Europe trip and booked both through the Chase luxury hotel collection (the Edit) because the prices were similar but it included a bunch of perks (room upgrade, daily breakfast for two, a welcome gift, $100 dining credit, late check-out/early check-in).
On the first stay, I was in the King bedroom with a balcony, which was already incredibly spacious and luxurious. The floors weren't as clean as I hoped, but I just used the comfy slippers they offered. On the second stay, we were lucky enough to score the penthouse suite! It was AMAZING. Honestly, it will probably be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but we got used to the penthouse life fast. It was easy for us to take advantage and stay in as much as possible because of our dining credits (get their tinto de verano aka better sangria). Because of how great everything was, it was not hard to fully take advantage of all the perks.
The breakfast that was included was... you guessed it, also incredible. We first thought (and were perfectly happy) that it came with pastries, a meat plate (including iberico ham, turkey, and cheese), grilled bread, fruit, and coffee. However, the breakfast also included an entree (e.g., omelets, English breakfast, benedicts) and dessert (e.g., carrot cake, churros, yogurt) per person. This prevented us from eating lunch, but we wouldn't have it any other way. Plus, most of the restaurants in Madrid didn't open until 1pm - so it was perfect.
We spent most of our dining credit on Mendo (the attached restaurant) and the lobby bar. The menu was overall pretty good. Our favorites were the creamy ham croquettes and the burrata with green mole. It is a bit more pricey than the surrounding restaurants, so I would only visit if I had those credits on hand.
In case there needs to be a summary, the Thompson was INCREDIBLE and easily the highlight of our Madrid trip. read more
