Wow, Dr. Jaime Arruda should have hundreds of 5-star reviews already! I was looking for Dr…read more Arruda's phone number while I was elsewhere on yelp today and I couldn't believe that she didn't have a single review which is why I'm finally writing one! Oops, I need to be a better yelper and post more reviews especially for awesome doctors like Dr. Arruda. In late 2015 I was looking for an OBGYN who specialized in gynecologic issues and I'm so thankful that I found Dr. Arruda because she is the best!!! I can't say enough good things about Dr. Arruda's quality of care, level of expertise, and bedside manner. Dr. Arruda is so compassionate, and I really appreciate how well she explains everything and clearly provides all of your available options. I've had one surgery by Dr. Arruda and she is an amazing surgeon! Dr. Arruda's calendar is booked. My first appointment with her was scheduled six weeks out from when I first called, but I felt good about waiting because Dr. Arruda was so highly rated on other sites. I'm glad that I waited because I've received nothing but great care by Dr. Arruda. Once her office was able to squeeze me into her schedule when it was necessary for her to see me immediately due to a medical issue so, I feel that they try to be as flexible as possible. I've always had good communication with Dr. Arruda's nursing staff, and I'm grateful for the ability to ask non-urgent medical questions or follow-up questions very easily via my chart at UCHealth. I highly recommend Dr. Jaime Arruda!

I had a terrible experience during my visit with Dr. Christopher and would not recommend her. She…read morewas working with a student who was very compassionate, but I think our appointment was set up for failure when she had her student take my history, then got my history from him out in the hall, and then came into the room making really scary recommendations without asking me for any information or asking me how I felt about the fact that she was suggesting radical surgery. I have a confirmed diagnosis that does have symptom overlap with other conditions. Dr. Christopher told me that because of my previous surgeries my current symptoms could not be caused by my known condition, when in fact, studies have shown that it happens in 15% of women. She seemed really determined to make another diagnosis, even though the conditions she suggested aren't a good fit for my symptoms and the symptoms I have are known to be caused by my confirmed condition. She also pressured me to get a CT scan the same day. She was very dismissive when I told her what I know about my own body. I have been struggling with severe pain for many years. I felt frustrated and emotional during the appointment and instead of showing compassion, Dr. Christopher just started talking more and more quietly. I was not being rude or unreasonable, I was just upset and didn't feel heard and her response felt condescending. I felt like I was being treated like an hysterical woman. She tried referring me to 2 surgeons. When I told her I wanted to work with someone to talk about all options and not just surgery, she made a third referral. Given that I have to drive 6 hours round trip for these appointments I asked if a phone consult was possible. She stated it was not because the quality of care is dependent on doing a complete physical examination. It was amazing she could say that to me with a straight face given that she didn't examine me at all. I'm in a tough position and trying to find help. The way that Dr. Christopher treated me was discouraging to say the least, and completely inexcusable.

Communication here is very poor. Despite providing my pregnancy details yesterday, I was called…read moretoday and asked the same questions again. I've wasted my lunch break on hold only to find out no progress was made on scheduling a simple blood test. It feels like patient records aren't being checked or respected. If you are a working professional with limited time, be prepared for a lot of 'back and forth' for even the simplest appointments.

Update 9/15: Since Brooke responded to my review, I checked for a missed call or voicemail and have…read moreneither. I called the number she left in the comment and the number is disconnected. What a joke. Update #2: found Brookes email online, reached out and got a bounce back that she is no longer with CU OBGYN. So there's just some bot responding (and lying) to reviews on here. Seems pretty on par with everything I've experienced with this practice. I don't know where to begin, other than to say my experience at CU OB-GYN East Denver was deeply disappointing and, ultimately, traumatic. Despite leaving feedback in multiple places, I've never received a response, which is disheartening in itself. As a first-time mom with a healthy, low-risk pregnancy, I expected guidance, reassurance, and evidence-based care. Instead, beginning at 28 weeks, nearly every appointment was anxiety-inducing. Inductions were pushed repeatedly without medical necessity. At my 36-week appointment, after I declined Dr. Schneider's request to schedule a 39-week induction for no medical reason, she told us she would "challenge our birth plan." From that point on, the tone of my care shifted from supportive to adversarial. At 40 weeks, when I expressed a desire to wait until 41+3 for an induction if both baby and I remained healthy, I was told by Dr. Jacobsen: "Fine, you can stay pregnant until you're 44 weeks if you want, but your baby probably won't live." That comment continues to haunt me. At 40+6, I was experiencing many Braxton Hicks contractions and, because of them, couldn't feel my baby move as much. With Dr. Jacobsen's words echoing in my head, I was terrified. Even though I had labs, ultrasound, and a non-stress test scheduled for the next day, my husband and I went to the hospital for reassurance. From the moment I walked in, I was told--before a single test--that there was a "99% chance" I'd be staying due to gestational age. My wishes didn't matter. I started crying, and predictably my blood pressure spiked. I asked them to keep monitoring, knowing it would normalize. Labs were drawn, and while my blood pressure quickly returned to normal, they claimed my creatinine was high and diagnosed preeclampsia. When I asked if I could go home and return the next day, they told my husband I could "have a stroke and die at any minute." My medical records later confirmed I did not meet the criteria for preeclampsia--or even gestational hypertension. Once admitted, they repeated blood and urine testing every two hours. Every single test came back normal. Yet they kept me and moved to induction That unnecessary induction led to Pitocin, fetal distress, and ultimately a C-section. During labor, we were told the cord was "likely wrapped around the baby's neck," explaining her heart rate issues and why she wasn't descending. Later, my records revealed this wasn't true: her heart rate instability was directly due to Pitocin. The chart notes specifically state Pitocin had to be paused for "fetal heart tones category II." As for why she wasn't descending, it wasn't the cord at all. She was delivered sunny-side-up (occiput posterior), a position that can often be identified and managed during labor. Yet no one noted this until after birth. This was a textbook cascade of interventions: induction increases the likelihood of further interventions like epidural, distress, and cesarean. Inductions nearly double the risk of cesarean in first-time moms without medical indication. At my 2- and 6-week postpartum visits, I begged for clarity. Instead, my concerns were dismissed. I was told "gestational hypertension" and "preeclampsia" are used interchangeably (they are not), told to seek mental health support, and urged into birth control, and told if I became pregnant again within a year, I'd be "forced" into another C-section. There was no compassion, no accountability, and no attempt to help me process what happened. 5 months postpartum I am still processing the trauma of being coerced into interventions I did not need. Every moment after that 40 week appt with Dr. Jacobsen I lived in terror, replaying "your baby probably won't live" in my head. To know now that my diagnosis was inaccurate makes it even worse. This practice scarred me. They robbed me of the birth experience I had dreamed of my entire life. My daughter is here and safe, and I am grateful for that--but it does not erase the unnecessary pain, fear, and trauma inflicted on me. I feel this practice failed to respect my wishes, ignored my informed perspective, and resorted to fear tactics instead of collaborative care. This review is not easy to write, but I hope it spares another woman from experiencing what I went through. I strongly encourage anyone seeking care here to ask hard questions, advocate fiercely for themselves, and consider other practices where respect, transparency, and patient-centered care are prioritized.
