The outlets and light switch on one wall appeared to be out, and I couldn't figure out why. The breaker box showed nothing had been tripped. I also checked the outlets that I knew had GFCI switches on them, and none of them had tripped either. So I called Thompson Electric for help after seeing all the great reviews. After describing the problem, he immediately suspected it might be a simple fix and offered advice for things to check. This was already a refreshing change because the last electrician I called a few years ago came to my house, pushed a button to fix the problem, then charged $80 for it. This guy could have made an easy visitation fee, but instead chose to save me money by walking me through troubleshooting steps. I eventually discovered a GFCI switch that I didn't know existed, and sure enough, it had been tripped. Pressing the reset button restored power to the entire wall, just as he had suspected. Even though I ended up not needing to hire this company, they were still responsible for fixing my problem. I appreciate the honesty exhibited here and am definitely adding them to my contact list for the next time I need an electrician. read more

I highly recommend Thompson Electric! I called them because my Ring Floodlight Camera and Ring doorbell were not working properly. From start to finish, the service was exceptional. Richard and his assistant, Emma, were professional, personable, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to work with. First, they determined that the Ring Floodlight Camera was defective. Then, they took the time to troubleshoot and identified that a faulty transformer was causing our Ring doorbell to malfunction. After replacing the transformer, they discovered that our Ring doorbell was also defective. They replaced both devices, and now everything is working properly. Their pricing was reasonable, and the quality of their work exceeded my expectations. It's refreshing to find a company that is honest, reliable, punctual, and truly cares about providing excellent customer service. read more

Out of 3 electricians that I had my husband call, he was the only one who responded and we're so happy he did! My husband decided to work on his man cave in the garage. He did the framing & paint but needed a licensed electrician to do all the electrical wiring. He was very impressed with Richard and his 2 workers. Hubby was in Civil Engineering for civil service so he knew these gentlemen were legitimate. In his opinion, their pricing was fair and reasonable. We would highly recommend them to anybody requiring electrical services. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about Richard! He recently did electrical work for my mom in California, and the entire experience was fantastic from start to finish. He was professional, punctual, reasonably priced, and an absolute pleasure to work with. He made the whole process easy and stress-free, which I especially appreciated since I was coordinating things from out of state. It's not often you find someone who is not only great at what they do but also genuinely kind and enjoyable to have around. I would highly recommend Richard to anyone looking for a reliable, honest, and skilled electrician! We will forever just call Richard for all of our electrical needs. read more

Thompson Electric - Ceiling fan - Electricians Near Me

Richard did a great job from start to finish. He got back to me within minutes of my Yelp message, which was a nice surprise. When we talked about the work, he was straight up about pricing--fair, clear, and no nonsense. He really knew his stuff and explained everything in a way that made sense, so I felt good about moving forward. He kept me in the loop the whole time with updates and timelines, which I appreciated. The work itself was solid--clean, professional, and done right the first time. He even took the time to line up the cover plate screws the right way, which is a small thing but shows he cares about the details. Overall it was a smooth experience and I'd definitely call him again. Highly recommend. read more

Richard did an awesome job. He came out quick and got my breaker replaced for me. Highly recommend.

Thank you, Richard and Emma! If you're looking for an electrician, look no further than Thompson Electric--they are fantastic! My new-ish washing machine wasn't turning on, and we suspected there might be an issue with the outlet. I contacted 4 electricians on a Friday morning, and Thompson Electric was the first to respond. They were incredibly quick and were able to fit me in that same afternoon. Richard and Emma quickly diagnosed the problem--a frayed wire inside the outlet--and were able to fix it right away. Unfortunately, my washing machine still isn't working, likely damaged due to a power surge. However, I really appreciate how quickly Thompson Electric responded, their professionalism, and their ability to diagnose and repair the electrical issue. Excellent service from start to finish. And their pricing was really good And very reasonable Highly recommend! read more

My kitchen outlets were not working so I called Richard for an estimate and availability. He arrived that day and repaired a GFCI, for a good price, and excellent service. read more

Richard and Emma were professionals with knowledge. They replaced three light fixtures with motion sensor lights, installed a new electrical panel, for the fourth motion sensor, and an outlet. All of the newer homes here don't have an electrical outlet on one side of the outdoor wall. They worked so hard on a scorching sunny day. Loved it that they tested all of the electrical including the motion sensor lights to ensure they all worked. My go to electrical company going forward. Thanks again! read more

I had a great experience using Thompson Electric for installation of new recessed LED lights in 9 rooms of my 20+ year old, 2-story home. A lot of fishing of wires thru walls and ceilings was needed. They made clean drywall cutouts for easier patching and did a great job preventing drywall dust from getting everywhere. They cleaned up after each room and then again at the end of each day so that we didn't come home to a mess. We really like the way the lights turned out. Then just before we were about to paint we decided to have the bathroom vent fans replaced. Thompson Electric was able come out and take care of the job quickly. A 5 star experience again. Richard (the owner) was quick to reply to phone calls and texts, arrived when he said he would, and the jobs were completed in the estimated time frame. If I need more electrical work in the future, Thompson Electric will be the first call I make. read more

searched yelp for an electrician. searched until I found the first non-sponsored company. When I reached out to connect through yelp, yelp wanted me to get multiple quotes. I wasn't in the mood for that because I was just looking for an *actual electrician* and not just a lead list that would probably cause me to get charged more. The service call was really reasonably priced. Richard troubleshooted and is going to come back to replace the broken fixture. Will work with Thompson Electric again. read more

Richard helped us with the electrical for our kitchen remodel. Having a kind, experienced, and reliable electrician during a kitchen renovation is huge. He truly cares about his work and provided quality. We had him change out our ceiling recess lights, add electrical/install island lighting, rewire/install under cabinet lighting, change out all our old electrical plates/outlets, add dedicated electrical for our new microwave, add electrical/install for sconce light, add electrical for beverage/wine fridge, take out ceiling fan/add ceiling light, and replace some outdoor electrical outlets. He worked well with other contractors and accommodated our schedule to make sure everything was done at the appropriate stage. I am really happy with his work, would hire him again, and would refer him to friends and family. read more

I had a beeping noise that I thought was coming from an old smoke alarm. (We have 10ft ceilings that none of my ladders can reach) In my state of panic, I reached out to Richard for advice and possibly make the trip out to investigate the problem. After some talk over the phone, we were able to resolve the problem without coming to our home and save us the money. I really appreciate his willingness to help even though it was near closing. His responsiveness was enough for me to reach out for future electrical projects! (Turns out the beeping was not coming from the smoke detector but an old separate CO2 detector). This may be a minor issue but it shows the company's dependability and honesty. read more
