When the doctor finally said I needed an injection, he gave me two options - pay $300 out of pocket or wait up to 4 weeks for insurance approval. I chose to wait for my insurance. The doctor said he'd submit the request that same day. A week later, I called my insurance to check the status -- but there was no request on file. I called the office, and no one knew anything about the injection or the insurance request. After multiple calls, they finally said they would submit it -- but they didn't. Three weeks later, the request was finally sent, but they submitted it incorrectly, causing even more delays. When I called again, they had no idea what I was talking about -- nothing was in my file. I've been calling nonstop, but all I get is the same girl, Nina, saying she'll ask the doctor and call me back -- but no one ever does. It's clear they're dragging their feet, hoping I'll give up and pay out of pocket because insurance won't pay them as much. I've been suffering for 5 months, and the past 3 weeks have been unbearable. Do yourself a favor -- **go somewhere else**. No one deserves this kind of treatment, physically or mentally

A couple people were VERY adamant that he is the best in the biz and I needed to go to him immediately. They were right. Dr. Monsanto is extremely smart, kind, and has a great demeanor. He identified that I needed surgery and got me scheduled as soon as possible. The surgery went well, and I am now 1+ month into my healing process. I've been seeing him every week and I always come in with a list of questions and he is always so helpful in answering them all. His assistant Elsie is great, too. My favorite kind of New Yorker - direct, effective, and great at communication. She is the most responsive person I've ever worked with at any doctor's office. We actually text, she leaves on read receipts, and gets back to me as soon as possible. Another note - I was between jobs and between health insurance plans when I got into my accident (Murphy's Law), but Dr. Monsanto was willing to work with me on a payment plan for my higher-than-usual deductible. This meant the world to me, because it meant that I was able to get the care I needed when I needed it and now I have a great chance at making a full recovery. I have also had a few pleasant conversations in the waiting room and his other patients rave about him as well. Dr. Monsanto is as good as it gets!!! She's also got a warm, humorous but also professional demeanor that put me at ease and made me feel secure about my care and even made it pleasant experience.
