The most amazing place for your eyes! I'm so happy that I came here and decided to choose them for…read moremy Cataract and Lens Implantation Surgery. At the age of 46 years old, I unfortunately got hit with congenital cataracts in my left eye. I was suppose to go to Kaiser and just do it with my insurance. But just like most places there was no personal comfort and care like a place like the Vision Institute. After much research and second opinion after 3rd or more I made a visit to this place months ago. Right away I was seen, cared for like no other. The first lady I dealt with asked me so many valuable questions, and assured my presence there was important as it should be. I felt safe and comfortable right away. I met Dr. Hura for the first time that day and I was relieved to know he also was extremely helpful and amazing to answer my questions and share the right information to make me feel at home. The 2nd visit was to dilatate, do measurements, and get me ready for a possible surgery. That day was even better, being cared for and treated like a human being would want felt great. My worries of eye vision lost or any other things was going down. The Surgery Day at Specialty Surgical Center was even better, the Nurses, the Anesthesia specialist, the O.R. Nurse, Surgical tech, and the Recovery Nurse were all patient with me, and made me feel at home again. Made me feel safe and communicated with me always. Surgery was completed and I did not feel any pain or discomfort. Just a little anxiety on my end. Went home rested, for the first 2 days I stayed home and just relaxed and could tell my vision get better every day. Eye drops, and just rest made it hard to do as an active person I am. But day 3 I went back to work with ease and now after about a week and a half. My vision is on the last 3rd base with a homerun in the horizon! My vision is much more clearer then ever, day by day it's only gotten better! I am so extremely happy and after being overwhelmed with what could happen or what can I can't do. It's safe to say that I'm glad I made the right decision and even if I had to pay out of pocket. The price is worth it! You can't put a price on the Best Quality, and most importantly our own health! OUR EYES! I'm looking forward to the next 2 and half weeks and complete my 30 days after surgery to be ready to tackle life again. I surely will decide to do the right eye next in the coming months. SUPER THANK YOU TO DR. HURA! The Staff of the Vision Institute for always answering my calls with sincerity and care. Thank you to the awesome people at the Specialty Surgical Center for caring and being comforting before, during and after my surgery! You are all God Send and I'm forever grateful for this experience! Much Love and Take Care Always! -Rommel / Small Paws Cremations

Dr. Shamie was patient as I puzzled through the decision process (despite the fact that she's obviously been through it a thousand times). Not only was the experience flawless, but her office is perfection. So many times a medical adventure is compromised not by the doctor but the staff. Not so here--they were responsive, helpful, professional and kind. That's how I see it, and I see things very well these days.

I have a lazy eye (amblyopia) which means I only have one good eye. I was apprehensive about doing the surgery so I did many hours of research and had consultations with other highly reputable surgeons. But I found that none of them came close to Dr. Devgan in terms in knowledge and experience. After all, he is The Cataract Coach and has performed over 40,000 surgeries, including many for other ophthalmologists. Plus he spent a great deal of time during my consultation reviewing my images taken in his office, discussing lens options, explaining the surgery process, and patiently answering my many questions. Dr. Devgan loves what he does and his passion is evident when you meet with him. Additionally, everyone on his staff is very pleasant and professional. And Dr. Devgan gives his patients his email and cell number so we can contact him with any questions. I texted him on three occasions and he responded immediately! And in each case, he gave me very thorough answers to my questions. It was very comforting to know that he was always just a text away. I don't know of any other doctor who is so available to their patients. Dr Devgan recommended the Alcon Vivity in both eyes for me and my surgeries went well with no issues. They were both quick and painless and everything went smoothly at the Surgical Center. He came over and talked to me before I went into the operating room which I appreciated. I am very happy with the results. I requested the focus be set at near/intermediate, and I was OK wearing glasses for distance. I use a mild reader for fine print, my intermediate is perfect, and my distance is better than I expected. I can drive in the daytime without glasses, so I just I need them for driving at night. And there is very minimal halos and glare at night; much less than before surgery. I feel very fortunate to have had Dr. Devgan as my surgeon. I will not hesitate to recommend him to my friends and family because I know they will be in excellent and very skilled hands!

As a health professional with over 45 years of experience -- including serving as a Director of Nursing -- I felt completely respected and never pressured. I came in anxious because of a family history of complications, and he never rushed me or pushed me toward anything. He made it clear that I controlled the timeline, whether I wanted to wait or move forward, and he explained every option thoroughly without a hint of upselling. Both of my cataract surgeries went perfectly, and I can see beautifully now. His staff and the team at the surgery center were warm, professional, and clearly held him in high regard. I'm deeply grateful for the care I received.

The employees that I came in contact with before Dr. Tara were amazing. I then met Dr. Tara for the results. That's when I found out officially that I had ocular melanoma. She showed me the tumor on the scan. I can remember feeling so numb at that moment. Dr. Tara explained that she does not sit and watch these, she goes in aggressively, exactly what I wanted. She explained plaque radiation and how it's done. She told me that I will be getting a phone call from her right-hand man, Andre, and he will go over everything that we had talked about, and all the information that I need for upcoming appointments and procedures. Dr. Tara has an amazing bedside manner. People come from all different states to be treated by her. She is well-renowned, respected and sought after ocular oncologist. When giving this very scary diagnosis this is comforting. You can find her videos on YouTube and she also has a book on Amazon called Finding Your Way With Ocular Melanoma. I was able to purchase it on Amazon. I definitely recommend this book and her YouTube videos. This cancer is rare six in one million will be diagnosed. It's aggressive and likes to metastasize to the liver. It's good to have her expertise and the handbook to refer to. Unfortunately, after healing from the surgery and having the radiation plaque put in for a week, my retina detached. I had to undergo another major surgery. Now my life will include continuous scans of my body to make sure that it has not metastasized. I feel I am in amazing hands with Dr. Tara. I want to thank Andre and Priscilla, who work with Dr. Tara. Another example of amazing patient care and going above and beyond. Thank you for taking great care of me during this scary time. 4/30/26

When they brought me in, the doctor couldn't figure out what was wrong and told me I needed to see an "ear specialist." Why on earth they would have assigned me to someone who was NOT an ear specialist when I was coming in for hearing loss is beyond me. I waited to see that person and then was told she wanted me to go do a repeat of the audiology testing because she didn't trust the first testing even though it was done within their own office!! At that point, I decided to seek care through the House clinic downtown, where I was accommodated immediately due to the time sensitive nature of this concern and was met by very kind and competent doctors. Unfortunately, at this point, I am well beyond the window where it's likely that steroids could save my hearing. Do yourself a favor and start with the House clinic if you have any serious hearing concerns as this office does not appear to be able to manage them competently.
