Dr. Jafri truly changed my life in January 2025. She is an exceptional ophthalmologist and surgeon. I had struggled with my eyesight for years due to farsightedness and astigmatism, and I was not a candidate for contacts or LASIK. After learning about lens replacement surgery in 2024, I sought several consultations. From the moment I met Dr. Jafri, I felt completely at ease. She was patient, knowledgeable, and took the time to thoroughly explain my options and potential outcomes. I knew immediately that I was in extremely capable hands. Given my vision challenges, our goal was simply to improve my eyesight, with the possibility of needing LASIK touch-ups later. However, the results of the surgery and lens correction far exceeded our expectations--I now have 20/20 vision. Dr. Jafri supported me every step of the process. The surgery at UCLA Stein Eye Institute was a very comfortable experience, and any follow-up touch-up procedures were performed at Dr. Jafri's office, where I always felt welcomed and well cared for. For anyone considering vision correction, I cannot recommend Dr. Jafri highly enough. She is truly the best. read more

Like most people facing any surgery I vetted eye surgeons for over a month before choosing Dr. Batool. For starters, she was on time for our appointments which is a rarity for anybody in the health field. The front office staff is equally impressive in every way possible. Dr. Batool was pleasant, friendly and spent all the time I required and I never once got any hint or impression of being rushed or treated like "just another patient". This is a busy practice. And for good reason Dr. Batool patiently explained everything to me as far as diagnosis, plan of care, timelines and options and her realistic expectations for my cataracts. The procedure, after care, and the immediate results were way beyond anything I could've imagined so if you're putting off eye surgery consider this surgeon and don't wait as there's nothing to fear and everything to gain. Dr Batool is not only an excellent Dr. she is a wonderful human being. Big shout out to UCLA/ Jules Stein Eye clinic and their staff as well. Just my opinion as a patient but there is a good reason they are the top tier eye center on the US. read more

Amazing doctor. Brilliant, precise, super knowledgeable. And she has a great team as well. I had cataract surgery and my vision is crazy good now, thanks to this fine doctor. I went in wanting to get my eyes dilated - which was made very clear upon me calling. When I came in, the doctor was nice and personable however it stops there. She did a severely quick exam - put eye drops in and right away started flashing lights and then said we are done. I sat there confused and puzzled. I've had my eyes dilated on numerous occasions - and I KNOW you have to sit there and wait for it to kick in for at the very least 20 minutes. The doctor proceeded to tell me it's some super fast dilating drops that work right away. After, I had zero blurry vision. - which I always get as a symptom. Fast acting new dilating drops...ok I believed her. But then, it didn't sit quite right with me. I ended up asking a client who had been a practicing ophthalmologist for 3 decades, she was confused as well but said let's not question it until she checks because maybe she is at j aware of some new stuff that came out though she said she always upkeeps with everything. She checked the database for new medications and said THERE WAS NO WAY MY EYES WERE DILATED. Clearly I was lied to, the question is why? Also, a lot of my concerns I had were not address, but I was so thrown off with the dilation I didn't even remember to ask her for her answer, even though I did bring up the issues. I then called the doctors office to clear this up and to understand why I was told in clear words my eyes were dilated when in fact they were not. Some front desk girl assured me Batool Jafri will call me, but clearly that never happened. Not a good way to treat patients. read more

This review has been a couple months past due. Moving from the Bay Area to SoCal, I've searched for many Dr. who specializes in stye removal or "chalazion". Process was quick and easy to set up and appointment and get a consolation. Consolation was quick and thorough as I knew that I would prob require a minor procedures to remove the styes (yes I had two styes, one in each eye, what luck. I know) On to the procedures, she was very accommodating for my time and booked me for 4:30 pm knowing that is the time they closed. Each procedure lasted about 30-40 mins, of course I had two so I had to let one eye rest before coming back for the other. Overall she extremely professional, caring and educates her patients so we hopefully don't have to come back to see her. Recommended to any and everyone. read more

I had cataract surgery on my second eye two days ago. The first one was 9 days ago. Both surgeries were amazingly easy and I felt well-cared for. So far I am completely delighted with my new vision. Dr. Jafri and her staff are attentive and easy to reach. I like that the surgeries were done at Jules Stein and that Dr. Jafri can see my records there but that she has a private office which is much easier to deal with than Jules Stein. read more

My experience with Dr Jafri has been exceptional: Her bedside manner - warm, gracious, bright. Of course, any ophthalmologist at Jules Stein/UCLA is by definition - top of class. The deep skills have to be there. But she is much more. Questions are fielded with as much detail as needed. After all, the cataract eye surgery can have a number of lens choices. For most other surgeries, the patient is not making a selection. For my rotator cuff repair, I did not tell the orthopedic surgeon what materials to use. Dr Jafri is scary smart but not at all pompous. Ask a question in person (or via message or email) and she will reply in a day or so. She will drill down to the level of detail to satisfy your questions. She is patient. Reassuring, to be sure. I selected an upgraded more advanced lens which required me to go out of pocket. Her clear advice - pros and cons - made the decision easy. And a good one at that as the results are extraordinarily good. I am very happy with the level of care, clear communications and meeting and even exceeding my expectations. She is by far one of the best physicians I have encountered on many levels. read more

I was afraid I was going to lose my eyesight..... Before Dr. Jafri, I saw five, yes 5, ophthalmologists, board certified eye doctors. None of these specialists were able to offer me effective treatment. Fortunately I got a referral to her from another specialist. My fear was intense. I had so many questions, believe me, big bunch. Carefully she listened. She answered each one. Even if I was skeptical, she stayed on target. Everything she said proved true. I admire her ability to focus on my concerns and calm my extreme anxiety. Dr. Jafri correctly diagnosed my eye condition. She prescribed the right medication. Thanks to her, my condition has already improved 90%. She's the tops! read more

My short review? Schedule this epically talented physician, and you will "see" for yourself what a good doctor should be. 5 clear, focused, vivid stars! Dr Batool JAFRI is one of those brilliant physicians who relate to their patients, explaining their vast knowledge and expertise such that it is clearly understood and reassuringly calming. Then she performs as only a world class physician does, calmly and efficiently tackling our most sensitive and essential organs _ our eyes. She cut my eye with a scalpel, while I was awake, (medicated, but awake) and I can not wait for her to do my other eye! Her stellar medical training, in a second, Dr. JAFRI, and her staff, were so efficient, and personable, that I fell into a "relaxed, do what you want, I TRUST you mode". Each person made sure I knew that they knew everything about me and my needs, questions and concerns - answered and addressed. Dr. Batool Jafri leads this team by example. I've delt with surgeons, She raised the bar for them all. Dr Jafri's medical skill, as proven by my experience, is superb. Yes, she had stellar credentials, and top drawer medical schooling, and great referrals (I always have my doctor friend check out and research EVERY doctor that will work on me). But, it's my experience that counts. And, I demand the best, because I can. Seriously, can I be more over the moon? I had never met her before this adventure. This review is sincere. A thought, we live in a time when a FEW competent, specialized doctors like DR. JAFRI can perform miraculous surgeries on our eyes. Not so long ago, people my age, 65, gradually watched the world dim, loosing focus and clarity, even going legally and /or effectively blind, at best a blurry nightmare. It was happening to me. And, in one short, painless surgery, Dr. JAFRI gave me the eyesight of a 20 year old athlete. The clarity, the colors! I forgot how beautiful and vivid my world is. read more

I have relied on Dr. Jafri's expertise for more than a decade. After dealing with swollen eyelids (chalazions) for almost 2 months and visiting 3 doctors while being out of state, Dr. Jafri and her staff were a total godsend. I received answers and relief from her. I knew I needed surgery - anything around the eye is very sensitive and you only get two of em!-- so I wanted to make sure I went to someone with experience. I felt I was in great hands with Dr. Jafri given that she has over 15 years of experience. She handled my ojos with such delicate care and was very informative. I have to say, I had a TON of appointments in the month of April so I am sure the staff was probably like, Oh geez, it's Sarah walking through the door again --- haha but everytime I walked in -- they greeted me so politely and made me feel so welcome. I am happy to report I am healed and on the mend finally! Thanks Dr. Jafri! I can't say enough good things about Dr. Jafri and her staff. If you want options and immediate results - see her. she's fab. Another awesome fact about Dr. Jafri - she currently teaches at UCLA as the Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology. read more

I count myself very fortunate to have had Dr. Jafri as my ophtamologist at UCLA Health. While under her care, she suggested both a LASIK procedure and later a cataract operation on both my eyes. Both procedures succeeded jointly in returning me to a long distance 20/20 vision. It is such a relief to be able to see and read signs with small lettering clearly and sharply while in my car or while watching television without the need for eyeglasses. The effect also spills over into enjoying life more fully. Thank you Dr. Jafri! read more

Dr. Jafri is one of the best doctors I have ever met. She is professional, kind and patient. She really takes the time to explain everything to you and makes sure you feel comfortable. Hi readers, Dr. Batool Jafri told me she was destined to be an eye doctor and it shows in her precision to give me a shot in my eye lid. She was very calm and confident which is very important. She communicated with me as she would communicate with a friend versus a patient which was cool as I like to chit chat. In hind sight I see that the chalazion that swelled on my eyelid was due to me plucking out a gray hair....the Dr. agreed that could have caused the chalazion. It's been about 10 days and the small lump is not gone, but I think it's dumping fragments in to my eye that when I wake up looks like sleep in my eye... If I have to have actual surgery Batool would be the one! Updated 11/11/14 Chalazion "Chala" never went away even with injection and drops. I didn't stick with the drops as needed as they really didn't seem to work. I called Dr. Jafri and scheduled the surgery. Initially I knew about the surgery however I wanted to check out the injection and drops first. I like Dr. Jafri. She is a beautiful petite woman with small hands so I felt comfortable with her working around my eye area. I wasn't jumpy and trusted her 100%. I had to get an injection in my eye lid and I'm sure if I had to watch I would have been jumping around, however I let the Dr. do her thing without making the process more difficult by being worried. She gave me a Valium or some small tablet that chills the patient out and after about 10 minutes she injected my eye lid with ease and the feeling was nothing more than a quick pinch. When she stuck me in my eyelid and asked if I felt anything... I felt nada. Unlike a dentist you can still feel pressure... Dr. Jafri commenced her master piece. Process took about about 30-40 minutes and I think most of the time was waiting for the numbness to kick in. I see now that our eye lashes are very sensitive and I will never pluck out a gray hair again from my lashes as I'm sure that was the initial culprit that started this madness. As far as bruising, since my skin is dark I couldn't see the small bruise as much as someone with lighter skin so that was a plus for me. Now a week later I barely see anything and the hideous bump is gone! Also I forgot to mention that the lovely Dr. Jafri gave me a great rate since I had already been there for the injection. I Highly recommend Dr. Jafri if you have a chalazion (s) she is Excellent at what she does. I can tell she's a good woman at heart in business and her life. Of course I would never think of ever going to another eye doctor! read more

Had to have cataract surgery in both eyes. Dr. Jafri is now one of my favorite doctors. She was fantastic at explaining everything and putting me at ease with the procedure. Her staff is also amazing, making sure every detail was handled and easy. I now have great clear vision (I was used to glasses and contacts and I had no idea it could get so much better). How many doctors call their patients later in the day after surgery to check on them? That is the kind of doctor she is. Cannot give more than 5 stars or I would. Prof BATOOL JAFRI performed a cataract surgery on me at the impressive and modern UCLA Stein Eye institute. The whole process was very well organized, went very smoothly and the results excellent. Besides her excellent credentials, skills and professionalism I recommend Prof Jafri for the fact she takes time to listen to your concerns and care in explaining, very clearly, whatever condition you might have, but also what she is going to do about it in a way that is easily understandable for most people but detailed enough to give confidence that what she plans to do will be successful with a minimum of risks. Before I came to see Dr. Jafri, the last time I'd had my eyes checked was when I was 10 years old. I had glasses then, but stopped using them about a month in. When I went to see Dr. Jafri, I didn't know what to expect - I know NOTHING about eyesight or prescription glasses, but she helped me understand a lot more. She was kind and spirited from the moment I met her, and she was very thorough in her testing, making sure I was being well taken care of. We went through number of visual tests in the appointment before I found out that only one of my eyes was blurry, rather than both which I'd thought for years. I didn't even know that was an actual thing! She walked me through different lenses, patiently and carefully trying different ones until I felt comfortable with them. Even when I was completely indecisive and unsure, she did everything she could to help me get the perfect ones. Then, when I finally found them, I was immediately helped with finding frames with the same treatment as she had given me! I'm going to be going to her for as long as I can! She and her employees are all amazing and kind-hearted, helpful people!! I would recommend her to everyone! read more

What a terrible woman. My mother has had an eye infection for one month and Jafri has cut out the infection twice and lanced it once.
