He was riding his bike to school to clean out his lab before the Thanksgiving break when he was struck by a car (hit and run!). In addition to some scrapes and bruises, three of his front teeth were broken. Our son did not want to walk around with broken front teeth so he called Dr. Carl's office right away to see if he could get in ASAP. It was 2 days before Thanksgiving and Dr. Carl was leaving early for the holiday. Dr. Carl's office said if he could get to the office before 2pm, he could work on him. Our son did his best to get there on time, but he ended up arriving at 3PM. Dr. Carl waited until he got there and fixed his teeth that day! We were so grateful.

I am still in the healing phase of the procedure, but my experience proved nothing to be concerned about. The ladies in both the office and those who assisted Dr. Lloyd were approachable, knowledgeable, and helpful. They took the time to review anything I had questions about in person and via the phone. I was forewarned that getting the insurance estimate would take some time. I watched the process online and know it was my insurance company that took so long. The text communications about appointments and the videos on what to expect were very useful. They prepped me well for the day of the procedure. I showed up relaxed (special thanks to the Valium) and before I knew it, I was in recovery. So far, everything is going smoothly, and I am healing well. This office has done a lot to alleviate my longstanding dental phobia. First of all, the lobby is…read moresuper soothing and spa-like, with a coastal vibe, and they have a bunch of choices of tea or Nespresso. When you get to the chair, they'll have sunglasses for you so the lights aren't in your face, and if you are having a long procedure, you can watch a video of your choosing. But more importantly, the dentists (I've seen Dr. Simonsen and Dr. Melhem both) are kind, gentle, and thorough. I had two crowns, my first ever, a few years ago, and I was VERY nervous, since I have had previous fillings and extractions with inadequate anesthesia. The office has a long and detailed questionnaire where you can identify your triggers and they offer you ways to ameliorate them. I started feeling the work partway through and Dr. Simonsen stopped to re-numb me, instead of carrying on like dentists I've had in the past. They also offered breaks, and got me a ball from the prize chest to squeeze so I wouldn't maul my palms. The hygienists, Alison and Lisa, are also both great. Friendly, gentle, and detail oriented. They'll get you sparkling clean without making your mouth sore. I actually don't dread going for a cleaning!
