MUST READ!! This guys a fraud. He's very knowledgable but he doesn't put it into practice professionally, because all he cares about is making as much money as possible. They make you wait for hours & they don't act like professionals. This guy will ask you what's wrong with you & then he will tell you to watch a video to understand about chiropractor services and why it's important to get adjustments regularly or something like that. He will make you sit in a stupid massage chair & charge you for that service even if you didn't ask for it. This guy treats his business like he's in sales, even though this is a service regarding the health of the people, not something to be trying to force people to pay for things they don't need. He also has a million people inside sitting in the massage chairs at the same time, like how T))fff can you help you're customers if you're working with 10 different people at the same time. He also talks so fast and looks like he's in a hurry and walks around like a zombie trying to make deals with as much people as possible before the night is over. HORRIFYING! Read this before you decide... I was referred to this DC Hewko by a trusted friend. My experience was beyond horrifying! To begin with the incompetent office staff could not tell me if I had a copay or what a typical copay amount might look like. Furthermore in the three visits that I had there they never tried to collect a copay nor did they articulate any policies regarding costs not covered by insurance, nor what an insurance company would or wouldn't pay for. Hewko insisted on a bunch of needless x-rays (that upon request by my current DC was not fulfilled.) Hewko for intents and purposes essentially claimed my insurance would pay for the X-rays and proceeded to take a variety of them, after the X-rays, I was put on a bunch of gimmicky machines that don't seem to serve any real purpose (other than to assist in the lining of his pockets), for nearly 2 hous before I was evaluated and told that I had conditions that another DC and MD told me were bogus. If all of that wasn't enough, there was an absence of any real relief from the three excessively long visits, so I decided to go elsewhere for my chiropractic needs. 6.5 months later, I was sent to bill for $650 for x rays and other nondescript line items that the insurance company obviously wouldn't pay for. Hewko, appears to have issues with integrity and could certainly use a calibration of his moral compass. So be careful because if you think you're going to be treated there for a $20 copay (as is the case with my current DC) and that remainder will be covered by your insurance company, (which is the experience I've had everywhere else) you may just windup getting stuck with a bill you were not expecting for terribly substandard treatment. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! read more

This place is a rip off, $200-$550 per visit. Went multiple times & took my wife as well because I thought this would work out for my pain. Payed for some X-rays of my lower back & never received any explanations on what's wrong with my lower back or any type of information, just sure charged me real good & after that I watched a video for about 1hr & they laid me down on a massage machine & after that a body vibrating machine & cracked my back & off I went out of there after $1,000 dollars. read more

Worst experience ever. I never write reviews, but this place forced my hand. Upon intake I was told the price ranges were from $200-800 per session. I told the doctor I'd start at the $200 treatment and go from there. He proceeded to put me on multiple machines and just walk away for an hour treating the other 15 patients that were allowed in at the same time. By the end, I was charged $830 for the one visit I never agreed to. The doctor also took multiple personal phone calls over the course of diagnosing me. Stay away from this place. read more

Be careful with this place, specially beware of the tall skinny guy with the mullet... I can't speak for the other doctors in this practice but this one lacks customer service skills, he is completely unprofessional and a RIPOFF !!! first, I came in at 11am for my appointment and they had me waiting for ONE-HOUR! in the lobby because the guy with the mullet (sorry, forgot his name) was late! Then I had to wait another 20 minutes for him to get ready after showed up; then they called me into a very dark-room and made me watch a video about "the history of chiropractics" for an hour!! it is already 1:30pm, remember, I came in at 11am!! At this point I've been there for almost 3-hours, then the mullet-guy comes in the room extremely upset and aggravated after I had to call him because apparently he has forgotten that I was there watching that stupid video! At this point I should've walked out but I stayed to listen to what he had to say... he told me to start the treatment I was going to have to pay $1000 a month?? But For What treatment?? he hasn't even seen me yet!! or knows what my situation is! how can you diagnose someone without checking them first??? When I questioned him why so much money he had the guts to ask me "so how much are you used to paying??" How dare you be so disrespectful to your patients?! Update: June 2019 It's pretty SAD someone tagged "funny" and another "cool" about Dr. Thomas Hewko injuring me by an extremely rough neck adjustment. Dr. Hewko know what happened, and I am still living with the damage he caused. It's not funny or cool. What happened to me at the hands of Dr Hewko, is very unfortunate, and anyone seeking treatment by him, should consider a more gentle chiropractor or risk injury. I have permanent nerve damage and suffered spinal cord compression after an adjustment by Dr. Hewko. This is no small injury......it changed the course of my entire life. The active life I once had was taken from me. *** 2009 **** Wow, please think twice about this doctor of chiropratic. He does not cover him patients by carrying malpractice insurance. Dr. Hewko injured me back i while his practice was still in Costa Mesa. I was 25 years old at the time. Due to his rough approach to chiropratic, he injured my neck. I was originally diagnosed with cervical neuritis and 2 herniated discs - the next morning after the adjustment by Dr. Hewko. I awoke at 8:00 am and could not get out of bed, I could not stand up (my spine could not hold my body weight - for 6 months I could not stand up. I was unable to return to full time work for 2 years. I saw an attorney, and was told after the attoney's investigation, Dr. Hewko had all of his assets protected, and getting anything from him in a lawsuit was impossible. Interestingly his office lost my patient chart, could not find my x-rays......pretty darn shady!!!!!unbelievable!!! I am now 40 years old and have had a LIFE filled with pain, physical therapy, 2400 mg of ibuprophen is now what i take during the day and narcotic pain meds in the evening. I refuse to be foggy headed during the day. I refuse to take nerve pain meds, because I don't want to feel groggy and out of it. SO, AS YOU CAN TELL, MY ENTIRE LIFE FOR THE LAST 15 YEARS + MY FUTURE, HAVE BEEN FOREVER ALTERED DUE TO DR. THOMAS HEWKO. He never once acknowledged injuring me, NEVER OFFERED AN APPOLOGY. I am fairly confident I am not the only person he has injured. His judgement day will come. ***** UPDATE: March 2018 ***** I am no 49 years old and had a cervical fusion at 32 yrs old, and additional problems due to my neck injury in 1995. I have permanent nerve damage in my left arm and hand due to cervical spinal cord compression as a result of the cervical neuritis when Dr Hewko injured me by too roughly adjusting my neck. Dr. Hewko worked on my lower back, neck and wrist. He did an amazing job getting me realigned and free of those painful lower back pains. I had felt that lower back pain where you feel sharp needles and I could hardly stand for 30 seconds when that happened. Horrible experience. One of the workers went on a rant about how they don't believe in COVID, that it's all a lie and that is why he doesn't wear a mask. My dad also had an appointment set up at 11 am and when he went they told him he'd have to wait another hour for the doctor. What is the point in making appointments then? I also asked over the phone if there are any COVID protocols in place for the safety of patients and the lady just simply said no. She said that they don't wear masks either. This is going to be a very long review but I promise, it's worth it. I really wanted to be wrong about this place, I've never been here were used to going to the indoor swap-mall, where he usually charges around 80 dollars, I thought it was 50 at first but my dad confirmed it wasn't around the 50s , now the guy with the ponytail, let me tell you he is something else lol. His vibe is very intimidating, the way he talks to you and his presence in general is not very welcoming, his staff too, they all look at you with disgusted faces. Now my mom and I went to his office because he wasn't at the swap-mall, we found him at his local office and the lady at the front gave us paperwork to fill out, now I'm used to filling paperwork out but the questions on the paper we're really weird. If you ever go you'll see what I mean. Anyways we waited atleast 30-40 minutes in the waiting area, then finally he took us to a room and sat down to ask what my mom was there for we told him her symptoms, and then he stopped writing and left the room and said he'd be right back, he took atleast 20 minutes to come back, when he did he took my mom and I to another dark room where there's massage beds,now before my mom laid on the massage bed I asked him "hey how much is this massage going to cost?" And he said clearly to me "we'll talk about that later." And I go "mm ok". So then the machine goes for about 20 minutes or so he comes back and takes us to another room, where he tells us that he'll be needing mini exams and scans and all this stuff, my mom just wanted him to adjust her back and crack her bones (that's how she puts it) then he tells us that she's going to need treatment and rehab is extra, if she wants her back cracked it was originally going to be 200 but he saw we were not going to pay that much he said,I'll do you guys a favor I'll leave you it for 120." And if we didn't want to do it that we'd still owe him 50 dollars for laying down on the massage bed which I don't understand because I had asked him the price before my mother even laid down, he never told me the price for those 20 minutes, I ask him "50 dollars for what?" He replied "the massage bed" and I go "okay but that's why I asked you the price first." And he goes "well I ASSUMED she'd want to do the treatment." And I'm like "well that's why I don't like to assume I like to ask and make sure first." At this point I'm agitated and I'm like "oh okay well thank you for your time and thank you for taking us in." Then he says "you don't want to do it?" And I said "no we don't have that kind of money at the moment, and my mom just wants her back adjusted,"then he keeps telling me about these mini exams and scans and such, he said "you don't just go to the hospital and say "hey operate on my heart don't do anything else just open my heart up." And In my head I go,"yeah but the hospital doesn't just operate you first without going over how much it's going to cost, they talk to you about payment options and how much it'll be."and when I tell you this man is pushy, he is pushy. He kept saying "you can make payments." And trust me being in the room with him makes you a little uncomfortable and intimidated so i told him that I wanted my mom to go through with it I mean we already made the long drive; so might as well. He kept talking over me and didn't let me talk at all. Now while he was busy doing what he was doing to my mom, his staff members were talking very loudly. And I mean I have ears, and guess what ? His staff were making racist comments, saying something about not getting hired because he put on his job application his race was Hispanic and then one of the guys proceeded to saying "you got fired before you even got hired for putting yourself down as Hispanic". Something along those lines. And Guess what ? I'm hispanic, so you can only imagine how horrified I was that they were allowed to make those comments so freely. I gave them a look like "omg why would you say that". And they looked away shocked I guess that I spoke English, and that I had understood everything they just said. After we were done, he told us to come back tomorrow and that it would be 80 dollars, and I pretended that we were, I don't like to fight with people, it's not in me. But there's no way In hell I'm going to go back to that place. And also I have proof of everything to back up what I'm saying.So please if you plan on going here, think twice. read more

DO NOT COME HERE!!!! I came here with a MINOR lower back pain and the guy with the pony tail was recommended to me by a family member that will "help" me relieve my pain. Before he started he did a visual exam on me and told me it would cost $350 to do a full adjustment because it looked like I really needed it and my lower back pain would go away. I decided to do it and the FIRST thing he did was take me to a room and had me lay there for 45 minutes with a wheel going up and down my back. After the 45 minutes the machine stopped and I tried getting up to go tell him it was finished but when I tried getting up I was in EXTREMEEEEEE pain. I couldn't even walk. Well the "Dr" came in about 10 minutes later and tried to get me up but when he realized I couldn't get up he decided to give me an ice pack because my lower back disk got inflamed. An hour I was there with the ice pack when he came back and saw I was still unable to get up. Point I am trying to make is I went in to get better not worse and he knew he messed me up because he kept putting me on different machines and I even had to call a friend and family members to help me get home because I was so much in pain I couldn't even drive. The "Dr" saw how much pain I was in and still had the courage to charge me $400!!! He said we could do payments between me and him. Can you believe that crap. I am in the process of possibly taking legal action against that Dr. Its so sad that I can't even bend down to pick up my 1 year old son or have trouble when I use the restroom. read more

He was definetely satisfied with the crack, and we were glad it was open so late which is very unusal for chiropractic care so we really appreicte that! I am amazed how thorough Dr. Hewko was when he adjusted my back today. My neck has been out and my right shoulder seemed lower than the left . I went to another chiropractor and they only spent 5 minutes adjusting me... my pain was still there. Dr. Hewko spent 30 minutes and used 2 different rooms with different tools to relive my neck pain... when he used what look like a karate belt and gently pulled my neck I could instantly feel my upper neck and back release. Horrible customer service as I walk in and there's a supposed staff member sitting in the waiting area trying to argue about whether my insurance covers chiropractic services. He was obviously displeased with my insurance covering my chiropractor services elsewhere, so he goes on to tell me to "get the fuck out of here" and trying to fight me because he's a self claimed OG lol. Long story short I met the doctor at some point who was apologetic about the self claimed staff member and stated he had asked him to cover the lobby until he returned although he's not a staff member? great Dr. but more than that a very caring and understanding person thumbs up for the doctor. While with the family I got on a scooter and fell. My back but mostly my leg was totally out of wack. I seen the Chiroprator sign there on the corner of Main and 17th, went inside, seen within 20 minutes. Scheduled a few appointments there after and I was completely healed within weeks. Each session I got better until I felt normal again. In all honesty I just thought it was sign of me getting older since I am going to be 50 this year, but it was not that, Dr. Hewko was able to make me feel great again and not just comfortable, I was impressed and I want to thank him for his services. There is another doctor there as well and I cannot remember his name, he was great help too, there was time that I was running late and missed my appointment and the other Dr. was able to see me that day. Dr. Hewko is awesome! Started having hip and low-back pain for 2 weeks then yesterday it got so bad I practically couldn't move, walk or even drive. Called a friend to ask for help. She can usually give me a massage that helps but when she saw me she convinced me to go with her to see Dr. Hewko. She practically had to carry me into his office. Also, office hours are from 9:00 AM until midnight. Been to M.D.'s, Physical Therapists, Orthopedist and have never had such a thorough exam. His exam pin-pointed a multitude of issues. His comprehensive modalities helped me walk out of there after a few hours. I will be going back today because it's going to take some more time but I wish I could give him 10 stars!
