County Pump & Supply - County pump insisted this standing water was due to a leak in the offset resulting in the unnecessary digging.

    County Pump & Supply

Thousands of Dollars of Unnecessary Property Damge - Absolutely Zero Accountability…read more We hired this company when we suddenly lost water to our house. After a rushed & cursory assessment, they required us to dig up over a hundred feet of our yard & driveway, only to later determine the problem was in the well & no digging was required whatsoever. The company failed to do a proper leak assessment & cost us thousands of dollars in additional labor, subcontractors, materials, & SIX DAYS without water, all for something they should have identified & resolved within several hours. When we expressed our discontent & contacted the owner, he made up a litany of excuses to justify their work & has since refused to call us back. We completely lost water to our house one evening. We have experienced low well water before on occasions when we used too much water, but this was different as no water was running at the time & the pressure would not rebuild, no matter how long we waited. After waiting more than a day for the well to replenish, County Pump came by to assess the issue & quickly alleged we had a break in our offset line (the pipe that runs underground from the well to the house). They said there absolutely had to be a break underground & never even considered the issue could be elsewhere. They contacted a digging contractor that wouldn't be able to dispatch for several days, so we hired our own to expedite the excavation. After three days of digging, County Pump returned to replace the offset line, only to turn the pump on & still have NO water flowing to the house. Confused, they deliberated with their management & only THEN decided to remove the pump from the well, upon which they discovered a large break in the water line right above the pump. Suffice to say, the issue was always in the well & we spent excess time & money to dig up our yard & driveway for no reason. We signed their paperwork with the hopes of moving on, but after corresponding with multiple other contractors, it became clear that the issue should have been easily identified & resolved when troubleshooting; it's common practice for a pump company to raise the pump several feet from the well to test flow from the pitless adapter, but County Pump never even considered what ended up being an obvious issue in the well. I expressed my dissatisfaction to the techs while they were onsite & insisted their management contact us, but they never corresponded until we called their office multiple times afterwards & left messages with their owner. When we did eventually connect with the owner (Doug), he was highly defensive & downright combative - he refused to empathize with our poor service experience & insisted on a number of excuses to justify the additional digging & pipe replacement. In particular, he tried to convince us that the offset line had to be leaking because of water that appeared in the trench that was dug. Putting aside the fact that the digger (who's performed this work for over three decades) said the pit water was instead consistent with surface ground water AND the fact that it rained all night before County Pump returned, I explained to their owner that an offset leak couldn't be the cause, considering they ended up replacing the line & STILL did not receive water at the house, therefore no water could be flowing from the well & leaking through the original line. Doug instead talked in circles, seemingly more to justify their work to himself than to convince us. He said he'd call us back to sort things out - we've since never heard back. In summary: 1. This company provided a poor assessment. This has been confirmed through correspondence with multiple contractors. 2. They required us to perform a ton of expensive, unnecessary, & destructive services which also prolonged our resolution. 3. We paid them for services rendered & insisted their management contact us. 4. Only after continuous calls did they respond, at which time they took no accountability & chose instead to argue with a paying customer. 5. They ghosted us - no correspondence has occurred in the weeks following the call with the owner. This is a testament to a company that is completely devoid of integrity. Do not hire County Pump

Dan called me back to say they would be out first thing in the morning. They called early the following morning to say they had a foot of snow in Leominster but would be out as soon as it was safe to travel. While I sincerely appreciated their offer, there is no reason anyone should put their life at risk just to get our well pump working, so I asked them to stay home and come the following day. At 8:05 AM they called to say they were on their way and had the problem fixed by 9:30 AM. I am once again thoroughly impressed by their customer service, knowledge, professionalism, and reasonable prices. They are the gold standard that other companies only aspire too. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

A quick internet search shows that Howard Peterson also owns a bio-fuel plant. Peterson claims that he was helping the community by adding the junk blend and that somehow people should applaud him for his innovation. The motivation was greed and not customer satisfaction!! I hope that he gets charged criminally for this fraud. It cost me over $5000 to replace my heating system but at least I received fair compensation...$8.58! I don't know how anyone can trust these bait and switch clowns with any purchase made. Stay away unless you want to be in the same boat as hundreds of other customers with furnace breakdowns, thousands in repairs and constant lies from management. Shameful!!

They will be investigated by the Attorney Generals Office and watched closely by fuel assistance programs. Flagged unethical practices.

From a loyal customer to a lost one…read more I used to recommend Epoch Plumbing. A little over a year ago, my hot water tank started leaking and they sent someone out immediately--pretty sure his name was Jeremy--and he did a fantastic job. I thought I'd found "my" plumber. Fast-forward to this year: my ejector pump started acting up. I submitted two consult requests through their website and waited over two weeks with no response. Out of fairness, I called. I was told someone would come diagnose the issue for $79.95, and that fee would go toward repairs if I proceeded. Jacob arrived on September 3, 2025. He was polite, but no diagnostic was performed--he never opened or touched the unit. Instead, after a little small talk, he pitched reworking my system back to gravity-fed, which sounded promising, and then showed me five estimates ranging from ~$4,000 to ~$20,000. The quotes also said walls would need to be knocked down, which I would have to handle separately--though he mentioned his brother does wall work. I said I'd likely choose the ~$10,000 option but needed wall estimates first; I asked him to have his brother contact me, and I planned to get a couple of my own quotes too. No one ever followed up. No call from Jacob. No call from Epoch. Nothing--despite me being ready to proceed once I had the wall costs. Meanwhile, I was charged $79.95 for a "diagnostic" that wasn't performed. I even have surveillance footage showing the unit was never opened. I originally expected to spend up to ~$1,700 for repairs. Instead, I was upsold hard into a $10,000+ project and then completely ghosted. Unless Epoch refunds the $79.95 diagnostic fee that wasn't earned, I'll be disputing the charge with my credit card. Bottom line: Great experience with Jeremy last year; very poor service this year--no response to online requests, no diagnostic, aggressive upsell, and zero follow-through. They've lost my business. I'd caution others to get multiple quotes and make sure a real diagnostic is performed before paying any fee.

They came over quickly after we called and assessing the issue, they helped us by calling the manufacturer and helped convince that despite that the previous owners of the house didn't register the wall unit for the warranty that it was no fault of us and got the company to cover the unit under the warranty which saved us thousands of dollars. Epoch quickly was able to get a new wall unit within a day and despite having to do some additional work with the piping as the newer unit had some different aspects than out older unit, stayed late on a Friday night to get us up and running by the weekend. We couldn't be happier with the service we received, and we will 100% go with Epoch Plumbing for any plumbing related issues going forward and highly recommend that you do also.

My experience with Earthworks Site Development & Utilities, Inc has been nothing but remarkable…read more What this company has demonstrated has proven that there are still good people and good companies out there. For me, a good contactor has a good mix of personality/friendliness, knowledge/experience, and fair pricing. I strongly feel that they have all of these qualities. From my first introduction, I felt such a positive vibe of excitement, and interest in doing my project. It was not like the traditional corporate feel, or sales pitch, just trying to make a sale. That's important!! My project included a 2ndbuilding on my property, so I had the benefit of being "on site" at all times. I was able to witness (from both near and far) the workmanship and interactions that occurred throughout each day. I observed a strong team environment amongst them, which resulted in good collaboration, effective trouble-shooting through different tasks, and made for an overall friendlier environment. I was encouraged to ask questions, and I always felt welcome with any concerns I had. I believe some other strong indicators of a successful company are how employees treat each other, and their equipment. This also is a strong indicator of what I, as customer will probably see for my project. I observed hard workers, and employees that cared about their work, and each other. As they left the site each day, I would see that they cleaned my property, but also their own, by wiping it down, sweeping it out, and even parking equipment safely and neatly. That's important !!! I've received so many compliments about their work, it is very satisfying. Earthworks is a company that seems to be that nice mix of size, where it has a strong personal touch of a local business owner, yet the ability to cover a wide range of services, like that of a large national corporation. I'll be sure to call on them again, and certainly recommend them to both my personal and professional connections. Thank you Earthworks !!!!!!
