The level of craftsmanship he brought to my teeth was extraordinary. He spent the time, paid attention to every detail, and approached the work with a precision that exceeded every expectation. Dr Jacquie is literally my tooth savior…read more After extensive orthodontics and braces for almost 3 years..I had a couple of gum protrusions from periodontic disease in my bottom gums. And while I had a team of dentists in my previous hometown, they were all very young and never asked about my overall health to fully understand the situation. Immediately she knew I had a health condition causing the gum issues and visited my doctor and began the healing process. Dr Jacquie is bold, so confident in what she's doing and I literally felt I had landed in the hands of a Dental god to get me to a long awaited finish line of getting my teeth straight and healthy. She also helped create a retainer for me to be able to eat with them and not look gross pulling out my invisilign retainer for every meal (especially with friends in public)...something my other ortho wouldn't even try to accommodate for me. I love Cindy at the front desk..and Shakira, Jacquie's assistant who was very knowledgeable and has a great chair side manner. Jacquie is straight up and gets into issues that may sound scary, but she's honest and her experience and reputation proves what a powerhouse she is in her industry! I absolutely just love her and am SO happy to be her patient!

This review is solely about the receptionist. I decided to re-establish myself at Glen Cove Dental…read more Mind you I've been coming here off and on since high school (I'm now 41). I was also made aware that Dr. Jackie does ortho treatment and decided to schedule an appointment. Made the appointment for a cleaning and ortho consultation. On the day of my appointment I arrived on time. Everything seemed to be going smooth until I gave the receptionist my address. I was then interrogated with questions like "Why are you coming here" and "Why did you come back". There was no thank you for returning or we appreciate you being a loyal patient. Almost felt condemned about my choice to return. It caught me off guard but I explained how I liked Dr Jackie and how I really felt comfortable with her service. The receptionist kind of just stared and said "oh ok". I get to the back and I thought I was taking regular X-rays and I was told the images were for the ortho consult. I apologized for the confusion and explained that I moved forward with another Dr. for ortho and just needed the cleaning done. I also explained during a confirmation call that I no longer needed the ortho treatment just the cleaning. The hygienist returned with the receptionist and she said "I'm confused on why you're here". I explained again for cleaning services. She said "well you went to all these places how do we know if your insurance will cover the X-ray". I explained to her those Xrays were done by orthodontist and that's just a panel view not a dental X-ray and I paid for that out of pocket. She went on and on about my last dentist and you went to so many prior dentist and I don't understand why you're here. At that moment I didn't know why I was there allowing her to speak to me like a child. I said "can you call met life and see when the last submission for X-rays was". She said no and gave an exhausted explanation about her having to call my prior dentist. Mind you I went to one orthodontist who I moved forward with treatment with and my prior dentist who I mistaken my last appointment date. After I left I called met life to confirm all service submissions and come to find out I was actually seen the end of last year so none of my money was used nor has anyone submitted anything for payment. I'm sure the receptionist could've done that. Anyway, I told her I would reschedule and just her lack of professionalism threw me off. Does it matter if I drove from Brentwood? All you need to know is I like Dr Jackie and it's not coming out of your pocket. I sat in my car for five minutes going over in my head if I should walk away or stay and deal with the rude receptionist because I like Dr. Jackie's work. Just knowing I would have to deal with the receptionist made me walk back in thank her and told her I'll just keep my previous Dr. It was no "let me change your mind" no "how can we keep you as a patient". She has the nerve to wink and said okay. No care in the world. Wasted gas, toll and time. Worst part is I lost a great dentist like Dr.Jackie.

So far so good with dealing with this orthodontist. I really like not being bullsh***ed when it…read morecomes to dentistry. The care seems pretty straightforward. My son has been not the best at wearing or keeping his retainer. At one point during the course of our retainer experience the Dr. just broke it down for him simply. He told him he had to wear the retainer for X amount of days in a row then once he's done with that he can lessen the days of wearing. My son did it as best as he could. Then right about when we were making great progress and possibly not needing to get braces my son lost his retainer at an A's game while at summer camp. So, as the parent, I'm over it. We are going to go down the road of braces because, you cant lose braces. He wont need them very long thankfully. My son is doing fine and actually taking care of them pretty well. He doesn't seem to complain about the braces as much as he complained about the retainer. I can tell my son likes the Dr. He actually listens to him. Much better than he listens to me. I have another kid who will be coming in soon for her ortho needs too. Most of the staff is great. All of the RDA's rock. I've only had one incident of weird attitude from someone in the front office after I told her I was brining a check down to pay for the braces. She seemed mad I was going to pay for half the braces up front. I just requested to not have her work on our file again. That request has been met. We cant wait to see the results...for both kids.

UNCOMFORTABLE ENVIRONMENT // UNSUCCESSFUL TREATMENT…read more Office/Environment: Most of the office staff is quite unprofessional; especially the front desk lead, who is Dr. Harper's wife-- so there's little that can be done to correct or improve her abilities and attitude. The practice seems to be overbooked and the staff gets easily frustrated with their clients; even calling them 'demanding,' and getting annoyed by questions. In my experience, the practice is very good at selling packages and getting new clients in; but then the continued attention is neglected and there's not time for sufficient care. After signing on the dotted line, the level of respect declines. Over the course of my treatment at Harper Orthodontics, emails have regularly gone unreturned. This seems to reveal how the office is inundated with more clients than can be properly cared for. I also was unable to access Dr. Harper over the course of my treatment. I tried to save all questions for our appointments, which got written on my file as still having questions, still not understanding etc. It was not a safe environment. I was discouraged from being properly informed. Service Experience: Dr. Harper is friendly, and professional in manner overall; however (at times) he was unable to effectively communicate; especially when it came to unexpected changes to our treatment plan. He also neglected to acknowledge when our treatment plan went significantly over the said timeline. Overall: Harper Orthodontics did not provide me with the services I paid for. My nearly $7,000 treatment was not effective, and I've been offered no refund, so that I can continue treatment with another provider. The treatment did not correct my overbite. I have already paid for orthodontic treatment in full. I should not have to double pay for a new provider to continue treatment that was already paid for at Harper. I did not consent to paying $6,800 for my teeth to be mostly straightened. I paid because I was told I would receive a specific outcome, including totally correcting my overbite. Per Harper Orthodontics' email on July 21, 2020, our treatment plan reads as "18mo aligner treatment followed by 6mo braces." That's a year and a half on Invisalign at the most. Even though for a large part of that I changed out trays once a week, instead of twice and was told that was tracking/working. I went through the pain of changing out weekly, expecting that would accelerate my process; hopefully cut it in half. I at least expected to finish within the timeline. We are now over two and a half years in, and haven't even started the braces component. We are somehow in an experimental phase where I am wearing various retainers that he wasn't even sure would work. This is not what I agreed to or signed up for. If the doctor stuck with our original, agreed upon treatment plan I likely would've been done by the time I moved. If he had started braces in the summer of 2022, I might have have been done by my April 2023 move. Instead, he switched to experimental retainers, without my proper understanding or consent. The retainers aren't working, and this mysterious shift from our plan is further dragging out my treatment timeline. I feel I'm owed a duty of care. I am not happy with this treatment experience and I want my money back, so that I can finish my needed orthodontic treatment (braces) with a new provider. The company has not attempted to resolve this issue.
