More often than not , appointments would be canceled because of the horror I would feel in that chair each time . I can truly say; Dr. Schiavone has cured my fears and has given me strength to visit when the need arises, he has ALWAYS explained the proceedures to me BEFORE proceeding , reassuring me as he proceeded and even then, explained to me each and every movement as he worked on my much needed "mouthful of a mess" ! His work is precise and it is excellent, his conversation with you is very explainable and comforting, so if you have a feaR, as I did, Please consider this wonderful experience as I did, it WILL NOT be a regret, I promise! With a new job and a change of dental insurance I was in the market for a new dentist office when I…read morecame across Batavia Family Dental, on the list of providers. I am very happy with how things worked out, and I would highly recommend then to anyone looking for a good place to go. The first positive is ease of scheduling. As a new patient, I was able to get an appointment scheduled in just a few weeks. At past places, it has always seemed like it can take 6 months to get an appointment scheduled at a "good time." As a teacher I don't like taking time off for appointments, so I try to go 3:30 or later and those are always booked, here it was easy to get an appt relatively soon. The staff was very friendly. The hygienist who cleaned my teeth was very personable, she talked and was friendly, but didn't go overboard. Sometimes I find the hygienist gets too talkative when they have the tools in your mouth and it is a pain to talk, didn't find that here. They didn't suggest all sorts of work and things that needed to be done. My teeth aren't perfect. But I brush twice a day and try to floss most days a week and I feel that I have pretty good oral health. But some of the places i've gone seem to always suggest lots of different things I should have done, and I'm never very certain on if it needs to be done or if they just want to make money, but I didn't see that here. Overall, I am definitely not someone who loves going to the dentist, but the people at Batavia Family Dental made it an overall good experience.

Dr. Donnarumma is an excellent oral surgeon and a true professional. I had an implant placed by…read morehim, and throughout the entire process he was extremely patient and attentive. He did everything possible to minimize pain and discomfort during the procedures, clearly explained each step, and answered all of my questions. If I ever needed another implant, I wouldn't trust anyone else in Western New York. He truly goes above and beyond for his patients. The dental assistants he works with are also very kind and supportive. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of how I was treated by the front office staff during my last visit. I intentionally arrived early for my appointment because I had to rely on a rideshare. Uber had warned that drivers are limited in that area, so I reserved a ride in advance. Before scheduling it, I asked the reception staff how long the procedure would take and was told about 30 minutes. Based on that information, I scheduled my ride for about an hour after the expected finish time. When it became clear that the doctor was running behind schedule, I went to the front desk to ask about the updated timing so I could adjust my ride. As I started explaining my situation, the staff member interrupted me before I could finish my question and assumed I was trying to cancel my appointment because I had arrived early. She spoke to me in a dismissive tone and did not give me a chance to explain that I only needed an updated estimate so I could adjust my rideshare reservation. Because she would not check with the doctor or a dental assistant about the delay, I had no way of knowing how long the wait would be. As a result, I had to cancel my rideshare reservation and was charged a $25 cancellation fee. The original estimate of 30 minutes appeared to be based only on the computer schedule rather than confirming with the clinical staff. The next day I received a call from another member of the front office staff. When I returned the call right away, the response I received was simply, "I left you a voicemail," which came across as dismissive. The surgical care itself was excellent, but the communication and professionalism from the front office staff could definitely be improved.

I have had a couple of replacement fillings as I had the old almagam ones and both were super smooth and painless. They also squeezed me in when I had a bone spur in my gum, doctor had a poke around and then managed to pull out a shark tooth shard of bone with a little local anaesthetic. They let me take it home to show my family (a little weird of me) because it was so big from what it started out as. We decided to go with full dentures and I was anticipating a couple of rough months. I was very impressed with Bobs technique in injecting the Novocaine and extracting the teeth. There were some tough extractions but Bob,s chair side manner made the appointments as stress free as they could possibly be and as surprisingly painless as could be expected. The fitting of the dentures was also a bit of a chore but any time I had any discomfort Bob had me right in to address whatever issue I had. All in all the best dental experience I have ever had.
