I wanted additional work done as part of an insurance-covered bumper repair, including an aftermarket bumper. Other shops I contacted, including one GEICO directed me to, weren't willing to accommodate the request. I searched for highly rated body shops in Minneapolis, found Hagen's, and I'm glad I called. They were willing to work with me on what I wanted, and they did a great job. If you're considering an aftermarket front or rear bumper alongside body work, give them a call and ask what's possible. It is mechanically sound, it has only 26,800 miles on the odometer and its factory fire-engine-red paint looks to be unfaded. At age 90, I'm sure it will outlast me I had my first accident earlier this winter, and it was nasty. A chunk of ice left by a snowplow got trapped under my front bumper cover and split it six ways from Sunday. Attached pix show the BEFORE and AFTER left-side split--the right-side damage was twice as bad (sorry, the BEFORE pic won't upload). Two indie body shops would replace the bump cover and paint it for $1,000. As I drove to Oscar Auto Body for a third estimate, I pretty much figured it would come in with a $1K replacement, too. Owner Ramin Hakimi did, but then he suggested another way. He would weld the splits from the underside of the cover and brush-touch the paint. "You'll be able to see the tiny seam where the splits meet," he said,' but the casual observer won't notice any difference." Cost? $370. This plan's potential savings led me to show Ramin some surface damage to my rear bump cover, incurred some time ago when I backed into a brick wall too low to see. He'd take care of this cosmetic damage for $89 (Collision Bonilla wanted $700!). Attached pix shows AFTER. I chose to have both front and rear ends done, and I couldn't be happier with the work done, including the paint match. My choice made Ramin happy, too, because as an environmentalist he hates having to trash big pieces of fiberglass (his shop was one of the first in the city to transition to water-based or low-volatile organic compound (low-VOC) paint). I went to a family gathering last Sunday. I pulled into the driveway behind my brother, a perfectionist mechanical engineer. Walking over to my Civic, he said, "I see you decided to pop for a new bumper cover." Nuff said. Finally, I want to say that I wholeheartedly agree with the many online reviewers who found Ramin extraordinary. He is forthright and will give you his undivided personal attention as well as a more-than-fair price. He did not patronize me as so often happens with women drivers or discount my input because of my advanced age. We all want an honest estimator, and Ramin Hakimi is IT. They are amazing professionals who know what they are doing. One of our repairs was to repair vandalism that resulted in damage to the front roof pillar. They took the time to repair the damage and maintain the structural integrity, and when they painted it they blended it seamlessly. When another vehicle had damage to the liftgate, their work was just as stellar. Being in a particularly brutal part of the car for Minnesota conditions, there was an issue with the repair. I walked in, chatted with their Estimator and showed him the problem. Will was wonderful to deal with, and to my utter surprise they performed warranty work without any hassles. I heard nothing from Matt. I called to follow up. The lady told me that Matt would get back to me. Nothing. Then, I waited a month ...forgot about it... called back, trying to see what the heck.. 2 months later. No answer, no response from Matt. I was told that they would call... Waited again.. I had to chase the guy down and told the girl that answered the phone that it was ridiculous. Matt finally called me back and had mentioned via telephone that he'll go ahead with it and emailed me, out of no where he told me in email that he talked to the manager (attached) and basiclly not worth the fix. I was so upset that I called to speak to Matts manager. The manager stated that Matt probably thought it'll be better to put money in my pockets.I dont want the money. That's why it's a claim. He also mentioned that Matt's done it before upsetting customers. By not understanding, I'm assuming? I said if my repairs are not meeting dollar amount in minmum, they should have told me months ago and not say yes then say no to me 3 months later. He told me that it wasn't because the repair was "too little." He said they would fix it and order the part, and he would personally call me when part gets in.

So far it has been in the shop for a week to receive a "blueprint" for repair. We were told it will be likely another week to wait for additional insurance ok for additional cost. Also told painting is backed up and that may add time. So far we are over $2,000. I will update on how long this takes. Reminder this is a broken tail light at under 1 mph.
