Dr. Aul is gentle, forthright, honest, and conscientious. My kids have been seeing him twice a year for 4 years now. Me? I hadn't been to a dentist since I was a teenager... I was scared and avoided it for over 20 years. My kids told me I should see Dr. Aul because he's nice. The receptionist, who has always been such a cool lady, said he's really good (which is why he's so booked) and she encouraged me to take the first step and he would take it from there and just check my gums and teeth and do a normal cleaning and X-rays. Well, I finally did it and I'm so happy I did! My daughter suggested I bring my favorite Beanie Baby for comfort but the whole 4-person team at this practice put me at ease right away. I was OK! I was relaxed without drugs. They are a great team. And if you're wondering how my check up went:::: no cavities, no deep cleaning needed. All I need to do is floss my wisdom teeth better and consider having them removed. They said "no pressure", and made my next appt for 6 months from now for a regular check up. My new favorite dentist!!! My previous dentist retired and Dr Aul took over. I was really hesitant to going to a new dentist, but I'm SO glad it's Dr Aul. Unfortunately, my very first checkup with him, I had to have a root canal. Lucky me. I'm happy to say that the procedure went painlessly and if I ever have to have anymore major (or any) dental work at all, I am glad I have Dr. Aul. He is extremely gentle, patient, careful, and thorough. Absolutely no surprises. He will tell you exactly what he's doing at all times so you feel at ease throughout the entire process. The dental assistants, Gabby and Maria, are totally awesome as well. I can't say enough good things about this dental office. They will never try to rip you off either, as I've experienced in other establishments. They are always very upfront about your costs. If you're researching for a new dentist, give Dr. Aul a call. Dr. Thomas Aul is DISHOEST & GREEDY! I'm Dr. Chan's Patient for over 20 years. Dr. Chan referred me to a very honest & experienced periodontist Dr. Yum to do gum disease treatment. The full mouth surgical treatment & 2 implants took me more than a year to complete. By the time I went back (a year later) to visit my general dentist Dr. Chan for 2 crowns for the implants, I found out he is semi-retiring, he works only 2 days a week. By my friend's referral, I went to see Dr. Thomas Aul on 3/15/2023 to do a regular cleaning & 2 crowns for the implants. The front desk said, Dr. Aul wants his new patient to take full mouth X-ray (12 negatives) which is not covered by insurance company. So, I had to paid $75 which I did. But how come this kind of charge never happened before? Here comes the best part, Dr. Aul neglected what I told him that I have just completed the surgical gum disease treatment and 2 implants. All I needed is cleaning & 2 crowns, Then he said my gum is terrible and he can refer me to a specialist (to his benefit I guess). I said that I have just completed the gum treatment last year and why I need another treatment? He didn't agree with me. Finally, he did a half-past cleaning. Before we left, the front desk said Dr. Aul wants her getting a pre-authorization from insurance company for deep cleaning (why Dr. Aul didn't tell me in person?). What kind of dentist is Dr. Aul? He wants me to do another gum treatment & deep cleaning right after I've just completed a painfully surgical gum disease treatment 6 months ago. In the insurance company's approved (3/29/2023) claim from Dr. Aul, I found out there are 2 services claims are frauds: 1. Comprehensive series of X-rays. Dr. Aul's front desk said insurance company will not pay. So, they Charged me $75 which they should either return to me or to the insurance company. 2. Diagnostic test. They didn't do any test on me except X-ray. They should return $70 back to insurance company. DISHONEST & GREEDY! All he wants is to get more money out of my own pocket. read more

I was told by another dentist that I needed $10k worth of work done on my teeth. I couldn't sleep for 2 weeks thinking of what i was told. I almost went to Mexico to get the work done. I decided to get a 2nd opinion and came across Dr.Aul on yelp. I went to see him and guess what? I didn't need any work done on my teeth, I didn't even have a cavity. Dr. Aul sensed that I was sensitive to the teeth cleaning procedure, especially I didn't have one for many many years. Dr. Aul was very patient with me and tried his best to make me feel comfortable to finish the procedure. I had a very positive experience with him. His staff were also good. They confirmed and reminded me the appointment the day before. They also answered my questions and provided me useful information. I love Dr. Aul and the staff! Great staff! Everyone is very kind, respectful, and knowledgeable. During the times I visited, I've only seen one receptionist, one assistant, and Dr. Aul. Although the staff is fairly small, the atmosphere is very nice and everyone seems to get along. The parking lot is shared between many businesses in the same plaza, but they do cone off a few spots in front of the office for their customers to use. Getting into the plaza coming east on Colima is a bit of a hassle because you have to make a u-turn and it is a busy street, so try planning your visit during early hours or on weekdays. As mentioned before, this is a small office, so I'm not quite sure how advance their tools are, but it does seem to be well kept and clean. Every time I visit the office, I don't spend much time waiting, they are very good with scheduling and getting you in and out as fast as they can. Dr. Aul makes dentist visits as painless as possible. He introduces himself and gets to know his patients. One thing that I love the best about him is that he's always shows you what he sees in the X-rays. If things aren't quite up to par, such as flossing habits, he will remind you and not attack you. When he discovers work that needs to be done, he does his best to explain and doesn't just announce to you that you need this and that done. Dr Aul was my dentist for years. I followed him from Monterery Park and now Rowland Heights. Even with the extra driving time, it's totally worth it. Dr Aul is caring and pleasant. He makes my visit not scary like it used to be. One thing I like best is Dr Aul keep the appointment time very good. Honestly, I think Dr. Aul is the doctor that I've been trying to find forever now. I didn't think that I would ever find a dentist that I like enough that I would be willing to come back to. He makes me feel very comfortable, safe, and not scared to go to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned or have my cavities filled as well. My sister recommended me to Dr. Aul, because she said that he was a young doctor, friendly, nice, and can speak Cantonese as well. In Rowland Heights, there doesn't seem to be a high population of Cantonese doctors in any health profession as much, so finding a doctor with the same culture and ethnicity was nice, because then conversations could stray to other topics if so. My first visit here, I went in with the intentions of getting a regular dental cleaning, and I thought he was very thorough with all the checks he made. He first tapped each tooth to determine the level of decay on each tooth, because it affects my gums he said. Then he took x rays of my teeth, and then came back to tell me what he examined. He said I had three cavities, and suggested that I complete them as soon as possible, because two of them were right next to each other, and were slowly getting deeper to the root of my tooth. After discussing for about 5 minutes about my teeth, we started with a polish, and scrubbing of the teeth, and then he brushed my teeth with a grape tasting flavor toothpaste. He wasn't too harsh on my teeth, and always warned me of his next steps when he would floss of brush and polish. I told him I was scared with the dentist and orthodontists in general, because I had bad experiences before; my lips were cut, gums bleeding, etc. Just a few to name some. After my teeth cleaning, I also came back for an internal bleaching for a root canal tooth as well as filling in my cavities also. When I came back, he told me he would start on the two in the back, and then the cavity in the front, and then finish off with starting for the internal bleaching of the front tooth. He injected me with the local anesthesia, and I think this small action that he did next really stuck to me. He wiggled my upper lip when he was putting in the anesthesia so I wouldn't feel the pain of the needle and that didn't hurt as much, because he kept constantly wiggling my lip so the pain wasn't bad at all. He always told me to close my eyes when he brought out the power tools, and made sure to have his assistant, Laurie to protect the tongue. After we had finished, he showed me the final results, and also let me know to wait a week for the internal bleaching, and then come back to see if the tooth had whitened to my satisfaction. Overall the experience was superb. I felt very comfortable to let Dr. Aul understand my needs, and also he made sure that he would do his best so that I wouldn't feel pain on my teeth or ask me questions to reassure me that everything would be okay. If you want someone who is nice, relatable, and willing to work with your requests, then come to Dr. Aul. He really does a great job, and I think he's hard to book on weekends also, because he always has packed schedules. read more
