Great staff and dentists - I've had my teeth cleaned by Dr. Chan and the other Dr. (girl). Both are exceptional. Minimal wait time, and they don't bother me much. This was my first visit to this dental place since I was looking for a new dentist in the area. I saw many good reviews on my dental healthcare app so I decided to make an appointment. I did not have any problem scheduling an appointment. This dental place is located on Nogales and Colima inside of a plaza. My appointment time was 9 a.m. and I got there at around 8:30 a.m. However, I saw they put on the "open" sign at around 8:45 a.m. The front desk receptionist called Valerie was nice. She asked me to fill in the forms (about 4 pages) because I'm the new patient. The place was small and a bit old school but it was clean. I've been to a few new & modern dental places but the quality of care was not good. What I'm focused on is the care quality and service. I've waited about 10 minutes because she had to check my insurance. Then a lady called my name to go inside. (I forgot her name and she's also very friendly). The place was small inside and some of the equipment was a bit old but they were clean. However, she helped me to do the X-Ray gently and efficiently. I had many bad experiences at other dental places on doing X-Ray because my jaw bones are small so it's not easy for me to bite that X-Ray thing. She was so gentle and fast and I didn't feel pain at all. After that, she helped me to do the polishing first (many dental places do it at the end), and then Dr. Chan came in and examined my teeth and helped me to do the cleaning part. I'm surprised because many dental places have hygienists to do the cleaning. Dr. Chan is friendly and knowledgeable. He's also gentle on cleaning my teeth. The whole process was fast and easy and I left the dental place around 9:30 a.m. The staff are friendly and welcoming. I already scheduled my appointment about 6 months later. read more

Dr. Chan is very friendly and speaks Mandarin, however, there were a few things the practice can improve on as a whole. This was my first visit since I recently got dental insurance so I had to switch dentists and I wanted to explore other orthodontists as well. I made an appointment a month ahead and arrived 15 minutes early to fill out the necessary forms. My appointment was at 11am and I had finished filling out all of my forms by then. I got my x-rays after a five minute wait but I wasn't seen by Dr. Chan until 12:05PM (more than an hour after my appointment time). No one came to check in on me from the time I finished my x-rays to when Dr. Chan arrived. I genuinely considered walking out if Dr. Chan and his team had not arrived to my room when they did. With COVID, I would assume there would be better appointment planning since walk-ins aren't available. For an 11AM Friday slot, there were three other patients. There should be a maximum occupancy rate for the building and it should be lower and strictly enforced due to the pandemic. Next, I came in for a checkup, cleaning, and for wisdom tooth pain. I wrote on the forms that I had pain in my bottom left jaw but it wasn't mentioned at all by the staff or by the doctor. Even if I didn't write it on the form, the doctor should have asked general questions such as why I came in for a visit or if I had any pain in my gums or teeth. Lastly, this was my first time at this location and they don't have any previous dental records of mine. I didn't receive a full x-ray of my teeth. If they had performed an x-ray of my full jaw, they would have noticed my wisdom tooth starting to grow out and would have suggested wisdom tooth removal. I had to bring it up to the doctor myself at the end of my checkup. Overall, Dr. Chan and his team are friendly but the long wait and lack of detail and care will not bring me back. read more

(With respect to the receptionist and the practice's time management) This is the worst experience I've had at a dental practice. I waited for an hour and was still nowhere close to being seen. There were people who came after, had later appointments and were seen before me. The receptionist made no attempt to inform me of long wait time, when I inquired the first time (after waiting for 40 mins), he said they were just waiting for a room for me. And then I saw another patient was seen after me 20 mins later, the reason was the same and he told me there would be at least another 15 mins wait. He did not apologise once, just explained that today was busy and there were other people who had emergencies, and told me he could reschedule my appointment while rolling his eyes at me. I am sure Dr Chan, other dentists and technicians are probably great, but this practice has no respect for patient's time read more

I've been coming to this dentist since I was a child at the age of 7. All the assistants are knowledgeable and kind. The service they provide makes coming here comfortable. A simple teeth cleaning after a X-ray scan allows you to go in and out within 45 minutes max. They take dental insurance and the amount of service they provide don't change. I will keep going to Michael Chan along with my future children for the rest of my life. read more

I've been a patient for many years, due to a friend referral. I'm content with his regular cleaning and x-rays, done twice a year, deep cleaning, which I did a couple of times, and fillings, when his x-ray detected a cavity. He also notifies you of any issues if he sees problems in his x-rays, either to endodontist, periodontist, etc. His business hours also fits my work schedule as well. A true 5-star office. It took me over 10 years to find a honest dentist. I went to other two 5-star reviewed dental offices at Ontario and Chino. Both of them tried to do super expensive work on my teeth even though I went in with my dental insurance fee schedule book. They both found ways to over charge. That Ontario office charged me extra $600+ for two fills. The Chino office wanted to charge me over $800 to redo one filling that Ontario office did plus a discounted price of $3500 to laser my gum because there was something wrong with my gum. I waited 3 years to fix my tooth till I found Chan. He didn't over sale anything, fixed the filling for $15 per the same insurance I used at previous offices. He did a crown for less than $250. And he said there's nothing wrong with my gum! It has been almost a year, I have no problem with his works at all. read more

Dr. Chan is a great dentist. He is kind, friendly and explains things to his patients. Valerie at receptionist is very nice and courteous as well booking appointments, schedule changes, insurance issues, etc. All the hygienist staff are great, too. Dr. Chan and his office really try hard to work with your insurance and plan out dental work to minimize out of pocket expenses for patients. I always appreciate that. I also appreciate he tries to work with his patients who are lower income and/or have no dental insurance to give them affordable dental care. We have been seeing Dr Chan for years, one of my sisters found him when she was searching for a dentist for her son. Best thing she ever did. Since than we have all switched to him. I moved to the Inland Empire and drive 25 miles one way just for him. My kids now see him also. He takes his time, explains EVERYTHING to you and somehow managed to pull my 6 year old's tooth WITHOUT scarring him or making him cry. Best dentist EVER! read more

I'm not sure what the other guy posted on here is talking about. I called and have such a hard time booking/scheduling an appointment. The receptionist can't even seem to speak English right because of her heavy Spanish accent. this dentist charges higher than average compared to other dentists and makes it such a hassle to get any work done. Dr. Chan and his staff are awesome! My friend had recommended him to me 3 years ago and I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. He takes his time and explains what hes doing. He is very patient and answers your questions, he puts you at ease. The girls are all very welcoming and friendly too. They keep appointments on time, I only had to wait 20 minutes past my time once. I appreciate the reminder calls too. They also call my insurance co. and will let me know what my cost will be before the procedure is done. They have plenty of parking, not cramped like other places. My daughter just recently saw him and now she says she won't go to anyone else. I went to this office for multiple fillings, and every visit has been pleasant. The receptionist is very responsive with scheduling appointments and reminders. Dr. Chan is very skilled and has a genuinely caring personality. One of my cavities was quite deep, almost reaching the nerves. Dr. Chan successfully filled that cavity and saved me from a costly root canal therapy. Since Dr. Chan is the only dentist here, this office isn't open every day of the week. However, that won't be an issue if you plan a little bit ahead and schedule an appointment. The dentist and staff here are wonderful, and I would definitely recommend going here. read more
