Honestly, if there is every anything monumental in my life Doug will be there. I just want him to follow me around with a video camera all the time. My wedding was beautiful and now, because of Doug, I'm able to share my wedding with people who weren't there. Other than being an incredible videographer, he's an amazing person. He got along with everyone and was a wonderful, uplifting presence and a true professional. I have referred him to so many people. His work is unmatched. He did my wedding in 2014 and then my sister's wedding this year and both videos made me cry. My mom has them bookmarked so she can show everyone in line at Costco. Doug was awesome! I would like to think that I am semi photogenic but honestly some days are better than others.. Lol! Although I have yet to receive my full video yet (I've seen the other videos he has created.. Just wow!) I have seen short clips of my wedding day and my goodness he is an angel. This is long overdue and I even went back and forth debating if I should just let it go, but ultimately, I wish I knew these things prior to booking with Sandlapse. Would I recommend Doug for your wedding videography? Yes, if you want an amazing snippet of your wedding day and professionalism is not huge on your priority list in a vendor. The good news is that Doug is very kind and was patient with me because I can admittedly be pretty picky. Doug made us a beautiful highlights reel that my husband and I loved. I even wrote him a decent review for his website, but I should have waited until we received the full video before I gave wrote the review. By the end of our wedding day, I honestly was kind of unimpressed with him (and so were my other vendors), but I decided to forgive and forget until I had to deal with him long after our wedding day. To start with, I dreamed of having the same-day edit shown to my guests on a large screen that we could enjoy with our guests. I know that I expressed this to Doug, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say it was a misunderstanding. I realized about a month before the wedding that Doug doesn't actually present it on a projector, but just a small television screen (about 15 inches) and displays it on a table somewhere at the venue with no music. When I told Doug I was disappointed, he tried to convince me that it was better to do it this way because the last time he did that, the guests got too emotional and it was hard to bring the energy back. I honestly thought that was so stupid and told him that that wouldn't be a problem with our guests. Doug reluctantly agreed to do it, but I had to find the projector.. and he wouldn't be able to add music, so we would basically be sitting in silence as the video played. The same-day edit was played on a small screen in the venue and a lot of my guests told me they didn't notice it. My husband and I didn't even get to enjoy it. I was hugely disappointed, but I decided to just let it go. I did express this to Doug in a later e-mail and he didn't acknowledge it. After the wedding, Doug presented us with a highlight reel that my husband and I both loved. I was very particular about the song he used and he was very patient with me, so I did appreciate that. Doug told me that we actually only booked for the highlights video and asked if we wanted to do a full video, which he had enough footage for. My husband and I decided to go for it because we were so happy with the highlights video, but we ended up being disappointed. Doug sent us a link to the video and we watched it. It was basically our highlight video with raw footage of the wedding. Since Doug believed he was only gathering footage for a highlights video, I guess it's forgivable.. but the editing of the other footage was very poor. There was no footage of the wedding entourage walking down the aisle, the camera is shaky at times, and the sound quality is mediocre. We paid an extra $400 for the video because we believed the quality would be as good as the highlight reel. Had I known what I was getting, we would have declined. Lastly, and this was the final straw for us, Doug told us in the beginning of December (our wedding was in September!!) that he was sending the DVDs later that week so we would have it before Christmas. We didn't have the videos in January, so I e-mailed him again and he said he needed to design the Blu-Ray covers. By March, we still didn't have the videos and I was pissed at this point. Doug tried to convince me that he told me he would be sending them in January and I had to reference several e-mails and text messages between us to prove that he promised to have our videos before Christmas. I really felt like he should've just owned up to his mistakes which frustrated me. Ultimately, Doug said he was confused, gave a half-hearted apology and sent the videos overnight. I guess he figured a $15 gift card to Starbucks with the words "Sorry for the delay" would suffice. Oh, and one more thing I thought would be worth mentioning. While Doug was filming the bridal party getting ready, Doug asked one of my bridesmaids to take a picture of him with his equipment. I didn't notice this on the day of, but one of my vendors did. My vendor didn't tell me, but we have a mutual friend who ended up telling me. My vendor was in disbelief because it was so unprofessional to ask someone, especially a member of the bridal party, to do this. So, yeah, he's seriously lacking in the professionalism. read more

I can't begin to describe how amazed I am with Doug's work. He did video for my wedding on 09/13/15 and me, my husband, and all of our guests were blown away when he did same day edit and played a loop of everything he's recorded so far on a screen at our reception!!! There's not a special moment that day that he missed with his camera. Every laugh, smile, and tear he captured. What makes his work so special is he didn't have us pose or fake anything, he captured raw emotion, candid shots, and all the happy moments that we will watch years later down the road and re-live our special day again. To anyone who's married can understand that you spend so much time planning your wedding to be perfect, but when it happens, your wedding day is a complete blur.
