We hired Deitrich from Uptown Sound to play at our venue, and given the # of positive reviews about the company, we had high expectations. The last wedding we went to for a friend had an amazing DJ, and I stressed the importance of this to Deitrich in the weeks leading up to the wedding. Overall, I thought Deitrich was a nice guy who was very responsive and played the specific songs that we requested, but a lot of time and thought was put into the reception playlist that I came up with. I know he tried to meet some very specific requests, which he did, but I also noticed that he re-played two of the Disney instrumentals which I requested, which makes me think that he wasn't really paying attention to what was being played during certain parts of the night. In addition, we also asked him to play mashups or songs that catered to a certain generation, but he pretty much played a few songs I did not like and were not on my original playlist. It just felt like he was doing "another wedding gig", and we also did not get a feel for his personality throughout the night either. I'm not sure how else to preview a DJ's work or what they'll be like on the night of... maybe my expectations were just too high, but can you blame me given all the stellar reviews? We asked for clips of his work, but he didn't have any. (I guess that makes sense?) Other than that, he showed up, was professional, communicative, and noted all of our specific requests, so high marks for that. We met with Mason before my fiancé and I had made our decision about the company and he was definitely a key factor in our decision. Mason has great taste in music, helped us navigate this foreign world of music for weddings, recommended songs, put together playlists for us and believe it or not had lots of recommendations for flow of the reception. We met with Mason another time before our wedding to finalize details and he was very responsive by email as well. He did a great job at the reception and the dance floor was always occupied. He also brought in additional speakers at our request so we had ample coverage all over the Italian villa. Aaron went above and beyond for our wedding. We had a flawless and fantastic experience working with him from the moment I sent an inquiry to the last song that was played at our wedding - and even working with Aaron on events after our wedding. I would hands down recommend him for any lighting and/or sound needs for ANY type of an event. We could not have picked a better lighting and sound person for our wedding. He was prompt to respond to our initial request for lighting and sound. I gave him a relative outline of what we were looking for, and then we met at our wedding and reception venue. My husband and I were one of the first weddings at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. Aaron met my Matron of Honor and myself at the museum one afternoon. He brought a sample uplight to show us how the color would look on the walls for both the ceremony and reception. The uplights he uses are LED, so they don't get hot like the can lights, and he can create virtually any color. He walked my MOH and I through what information he would need in terms of music, and gave suggestions on lighting and reception set up. He was incredibly helpful. After meeting at the museum, he sent us a very reasonably priced quote. We were definitely on board for booking him right away. Closer to the wedding, Aaron sent us a sample timeline for the ceremony and reception. It wasn't until I got the timeline and playlist samples that I realized just how much thought had to go in to every minute of our wedding. My husband and I were a little overwhelmed, and Aaron requested we meet up or Skype to work out the details. We asked if we could Skype in the evening, and Aaron was completely fine with that. We ended up Skype-ing the week before our wedding at 8 o'clock at night for about an hour and a half. Aaron helped us put together every minute of our pre-ceremony music, ceremony and reception. It was so helpful, and relieved a lot of stress. Aaron also cut songs for our first dance and father-daughter dance songs. It was definitely nice not having to be dancing in front of everyone for three and a half to four minutes for an entire song. The amount of people Aaron got on the dance floor for our ENTIRE reception was amazing. Family and friends I never imagined I would see boogieing on the dance floor were having the time of their lives! It was great. It also made for some incredible pictures. The lighting at both the ceremony and reception was beautiful. That alongside the flowers made for a breathtaking room for each part of the wedding. It was an amazing transformation. The pin spots he provided for the cake were great, too. In addition to being the vendor for our wedding, Aaron has graciously provided some lighting and sound for events I put on for a local non-profit organization. Recommend highly! Worth every penny!! We were skeptical about hiring a DJ because we didn't like how cheesy some of them were AND we have a unique taste in music. We had met with a couple other DJs in the area and didn't click with any of them... until we met Aaron with Uptown Sound! Aaron really listened to what we wanted. Best investment we made for our wedding, next to the photographer and wedding coordinator. Mason was referred to my husband Steve and me by our venue and he was absolutely incredible to work with. Prior to the wedding I met with Mason about what music we wanted for our ceremony and reception. Mason had Steve and I fill out a detailed questionnaire and made sure that he had detailed notes of everything we wanted. He also brought up things that I would never think about like what song to play while we were cutting the cake, etc. The little details he worked with us on made a big difference. We wanted everything from 90's pop and hip hop to George Straight to A&M songs to Latin music and he somehow seamlessly played everything we wanted and more at our reception and we and our guest truly had the time of our lives. He is so talented and I truly believe our reception would have been half as fun without him. Our dancefloor was PACKED the entire reception because Mason did such a great job playing such great music the entire time. Mason also far exceed my expectations by constantly check on Steve and I and our families. He made sure we had drinks and were having a great time. My heart was so happy when my family told me how he checked on them throughout the night. He did not have to do that that and it was so kind of him to do so. He also made sure that we stuck to the timeline so everything ran smoothly throughout the night. Mason could had left this responsibility to our coordinator but he worked with her all night to make sure that everything went perfect. I am so grateful that he went so far above and beyond my expectations when he certainly did not have to do that. I really enjoyed both of the times I met with him before the wedding to talk about the type of music we wanted, and the flow of the reception. I could not have asked for better music at our reception! He gave the perfect amount of energy when he spoke.
