So the waitress asks how everything was after we had the chicken quesadilla appetizers and we tell…read moreher the chicken was bland and needs seasoning. Her reply was that it's a busy Saturday and she's not telling them that today. Seriously we both work in food you are not a positive person. Who says that to a customer? She never smiled, there was at least 4 wait staff and a busser working the deck with a number of open tables. She also told us they had no plates for us to eat our appetizers and then found one said it was busy lunch except it was now 4:30pm. Really? Mind you we have both been managers in restaurants, I still work in one and had worked that day. We are always polite and friendly because of this Don't want to know how the food was don't ask and certainly don't tell the customer you aren't telling the cook. We even tried to laugh it off and she remained stoic. Is there something more going on there like a mean cook or are you just rude? The topper was her talking about us to other wait staff less than 10 feet away after that. The broiled seafood platter was ok but again needed seasoning which we didn't tell her since she clearly didn't care. After my first experience in a number of years a few weeks ago, this was a complete let down. There were plenty of open tables so it wasn't that busy as I have seen a wait for outdoor seating at most places by the water on a sunny warm day. One of the tall ships headed to Oswego was docked there as well which would draw people in from the water but not many there maybe she is part of the problem and the cook on Saturday June 21st. She wears a black shirt with red sides name is Keri. Nice view of the water and always clean we will wait a bit before returning.

Next time reminder, skip lettuce and tomato. French Fries are seasoned and were good. Place has nice seating capacity and appears to be clean. Worth a stop corn beef, pastrami sandwich also yummy.

Chef Miguel Lockhart grew up in NYC cooking soul food and going to Katz Deli with family. He became…read morean executive chef as an adult, and when he moved to CNY and decided he would open a restaurant, he wanted to provide something that CNY was scarce on - soul food and fresh, home made pastrami. Lockhart opened Harts Cafe & Deli in the ALDI shopping plaza on 31 in Cicero, with a menu consisting of sandwiches where he makes ALL the meats himself including pastrami, corned beef and pulled smoked chicken. He has a breakfast menu with platters, sandwiches, pancakes & waffles, offers different coffee options, fish fry Fridays, and Soul Food Saturdays. I went into Harts today after reading a good review about them, and I work pretty close. I LOVE pastrami, and it is not easy to find home made pastrami in the area, so I was immediately interested. Chef Miguel gave me a whole run down of what he offered, told me how everything is fresh made from the pastrami to his whole grain mustard, so I ordered a half pastrami sandwich with a side of his seasoned fries. He also has one of those machines that squeezes fresh orange juice, something I've only seen in one other restaurant here, and I love fresh orange juice, so I ordered once of those as well. He went back and made it immediately. My sandwich was fresh and hot, with thick slices of delicious pastrami on a roll with his home made tangy musatard, leaf lettuce and tomato. The HUGE pile of fries were seasoned well, and I can't place what the seasoning reminds me of, but it's different than any other fries I've had here and they taste great. A half sandwich, large side of fries and fresh squeeze juice cost me about $20. Chef Miguel was extremely friendly, and has a lot of stuff on the menu I want to try, cause I'll definitely be going back.
