Hi Aaron, I had a few minutes and wanted to let you know I have a 'success' story...another one for your books. I was in for about 8 sessions back in May 2018 for piriformis issue (fell on right butt cheek on ice skiing back on Easter Sunday 2018). I was 69 at the time (turned 70 11/29). You gave me some VERY helpful info on Cadence PLUS PT exercises, which I incorporated into my stretching routine and have been doing faithfully since at least 5 X/week. Those exercises + rolling on my nubby roller + more aware with my cadence (keeping it around 170ish) got me through Summer/Fall training for 3 Fall marathons, which is why I am sharing with you. I participated and ran some great times for being 69 for Chicago Marathon on 10/7 (5:22) and the Marine Corps Marathon, 3 weeks later on 10/28 (5:24) AND then I turned 70 on 11/29 and ran Tucson Marathon on 12/8 (5:37). I felt the 3rd one...legs a bit weary from running/shuffling 3 marathons in 63 days. However, I did place 2cnd in my new age division (70-74) at Tucson. I also ran all 3 of these marathons better than my 2016 MCM where I ran a 5:58 but by far slower than my last marathon, Seattle for my 50th in 1998 (4:30). I had a 18 year hiatus from running marathons (ran more halves, 10K's and trail runs in those 18 years 1998-2016). However, now I am on a roll but by far slower but I have more time to train, as I am working part-time now. So, thank you for your input with the 4 sessions of acupuncture + the exercises...Still using the TFL release with tennis ball against wall + Half Kneeling Hip Flexor Stretch w/ Reach + Shin Roll to right, then left with stretch + Wall Slides!!! + Single leg Romanian Deadlift + Reverse Lunge. I will continue to use these exercises what with the Leadville Heavy Half (15 miler) up and down Mosquito Pass on 6/15. I had to defer that one from 2018 to this year due to that piriformis injury. Then from June on, training for Sydney Marathon (Oz Land) on 9/15, which I am in, as there was not a lottery for this one. + I entered the New York City Marathon (11/4) lottery...fingers-crossed, as this one is lottery and a small lottery at that. I fractured my cervical spine and knew that physical therapy was going to be the most important part of my recovery. I tried to do my homework regarding therapists, but was limited due to my insurance. I initially chose Therapydia because they were the best rated that accepted my insurance, and honestly feel like I could not have chosen better. Josh is incredibly knowledgeable, personable, professional, and thorough. I am doing well now, mostly due to his care, as I went through some painful periods that I'm not sure I could have lived with easily had they lasted. I was diagnosed with scoliosis in my teenage years and have used exercise to manage. After having two kids, I was noticing changes in my posture, shoulder alignment and was experiencing more pain. I found Therapydia online and went to Casey. He spent a great deal of time learning about my pain, my condition and asking about what exercises/changes were helping. I did the at home work for awhile and came back to do a recheck. I was excited to see that my strength had improved significantly and Casey had more helpful suggestions regarding posture tape, muscle massage technique and apps for maintaining posture in an office environment. Therapydia has been a crucial part to improvement in my personal health problems when compared with previous physical therapy offices in the area. Dry needling is a specialty here and it has improved my mobility and pain level immensely! Hours are flexible and include Saturdays to its easy to find time before or after work to come in. I felt like I learned a lot about my condition and its progression with periodic gait analysis and fitness testing. Casey is very committed to continuing his education and practice of physical therapy and often references new research, techniques, and blogs during our sessions. I have been to Therapydia for several different pre and post-surgical issues over the last few years. I've had several lumbar fusions, and a cervical fusion. I started initially seeing Casey who was absolutely wonderful but now I see Cami. I think it helps, as a woman, to have female physical therapist. Cami has helped me tremendously. Not only has she helped with my surgical recovery but she has made some recommendations to correct issues I didn't know I had. She is not only very experienced, she is extremely intuitive. In addition to being great therapists, this is a different experience as they don't send you to off to warm up on a bicycle for 20 minutes and then split their time with other clients. Casey has been excellent through the diagnosis of my injury, explaining how the muscle groups work and how they can affect my condition, and in providing a treatment plan and exercise program. I particularly appreciate how thorough he has been at every visit and in documenting my prognosis in his notes which he then uses for reference in following visits. In addition to the excellent care I have received, I truly appreciate the personalized home exercise program (complete with videos, images, and a description of the exercises) emailed to me after each visit. "I tore my ACL skiing toward the end of the 2012-2013 season. I saw Casey 10 days after surgery and he put together a pretty incredible rehab program. Though I couldn't play competitive sports right away, he helped me find ways to stay active and get strong fast! It's a tough thing to go through for someone who thrives on not sitting still I missed ski season last year, but I was able to return to hard court sports in the spring and keep working on strength and stability through the summer. Casey is my favorite PT in Denver when it comes to any sort of body work. Whenever I tweak something, he identifies it almost immediately and explains what happened at a muscular level in terms anyone can understand. His treatments are spot on, and he has helped me recover from a couple of large injuries in a very short amount of time. Thank you Casey for a speedy recovery after ACL surgery. This was my second ACL injury on the same knee, however my recovery this time was so much better. Casey and I talked about my goals and what I wanted to get back to before we started rehab for my knee. He knew volleyball, running and hiking were big goals of mine. I had surgery in Oct'14 and started working with Casey soon after. By Jan'15 I was starting the couch to 5K program. I did a 5K in April and a 10K in May. I highly recommend Casey and Therapydia Denver. I was experiencing shoulder and elbow pain brought on by years of tennis and golf. Casey took the time to explain what could be going on in my arm and gave me a variety of stretches and exercises to combat the pain. Casey also did some dry needling on the affected muscles. The facility is very clean. Casey and Josh are extremely knowledgeable in treatment options. I felt they not only listen to what I verbalized but also read my body reactions immediately. After each sessions I have felt my lower back pain decreased to some degree. At this time I have little to no lower back pain.
