I am not a cross-dresser, okay? But I do really like shopping for women's clothes. I'll blame growing up in the South End. Bastards. Therapy is a small and rather cutesy boutique, but I could not help but feel most of the items were something you'd find at H&M on a good day (You know, when they aren't peddling that terrible 80's hooker look they've been peddling for far too long). The style here is predominantly hipster meets vintage meets eurotrash. However, there are definitely some very cute unique items tucked in different places. I can't help feeling if this place is to survive it better find a more unique fashion niche. Prices are average boutique prices ($80-140 for most items). Ladies: Expect to be trying things on more than usual, as some designers use non-standard sizes (like women's clothes have anything near sizing standards to begin with!), the owner informed me that she is eager to serve women of all body types. Boys: There's not much shelf space here for boys and for the most part what's out is a bit boorish for my tastes with a handful of very generic clubbing shirts. I missed it my first time through but this store carries some lovely Tom Baker items for men, including suits. For those of you who don't know Tom Baker, his suits were featured prominently in Casino Royale by James Bond himself and are some of the sexiest and best designed suits in the market. They are also criminally hard to find in this country and up until now I thought unavailable in Boston. The owner describes the process as semi-custom, wherein you choose your style, fabric, then get the suit fitted and professionally tailored to you when it arrives. The whole shebang costs under $700, which given the quality of these suits, the all-inclusive service, and the horrific exchange rate is an incredible bargain! This is a suit that will last you for life and be timelessly hawt. To match your top-notch suit there is a small hidden cache of fashionable ties. While a small collection, if I had the money I would have bought them all as they were suberb specimens. The owner is also a Yelper so you know she's good people! read more

The store provide boutique shoppers with the experience to purchase moderately priced clothes that are cute and appropriate for work...they will carry labels such as: Ted Baker, Jon Varvatos USA and Cassette I tried to add this as an event, but had some technical difficulties. While I'm usually not a fan of retail therapy (really the name lends itself to so many puns it isn't funny, thank god i'm generally not too punny an individual) So, I was housesitting with a friend and we wandered down to Therapy to see what they were all about. The general demolition and gentrification of Kenmore Square has always bummed me out, as I miss Deli Haus, the Rat, Super Socks, etc, but I don't really remember what Fenway had to offer (if anything) in the way of time wasting window shopping. Therapy is a small store with an incredibly friendly staff. They never pushed the hard sale, but were chatty and upbeat. I saw a few dresses that totally hit my "omg must have" button, but they were all over $200 and honestly, I want to occasion to wear a dress that costs over $200, and while my social calendar is pretty full, it's not particularly formal...so booh. I primarily liked the dresses and tops, though I think I may be a bit too bust for the latter, as their sizes tend to run towards the petite. There was a dress I totally fell in love with that I'm still trying to rationalize, even though I know I could honestly find something comparable at Nordstrom or possibly Forever 21 for a fraction of the price. They have neat quirky fashion that toes the line between hipster and eurotrash, as Peter G put it, but I think it leans more towards the quirky hipster end of the spectrum. Everything seemed casual yet dressy. They have a decent selection of jewelry, but I thought it was pretty overpriced, though that's because I think I could replicate half of it if I wanted to. The jewelry really did seem to be mostly resin stuff you could easily pick up at H&M. So I like Therapy (I adore their business cards), but I don't necessarily see myself buying anything there at the moment, since I generally lean more towards practicality than indulgence. read more

Oh hi, I'm a tall girl with no butt and big hips who's looking for a pair of jeans to wear to the office. Would you have put me in a 31" pair of Red Engine Rubys? Well, this store did, on the first try. This place is one half parlor-trick, one half very pricey jeans. I've never bought such a pricey pair of jeans before, and I may never again, but for those of us who can try on pair after pair after pair of jeans and still not find the right one, this store is a welcome experience. I couldn't buy all my jeans there, but I highly recommend the place for one-time shopping. read more

So this is such a great addition to Boston and Kenmore Square! I don't always like giving away such great places because this store has a lot of super cute t-shirts but also some beautiful upscale casual clothing. Some of the price points are dead on but a few things are a little too high (but then again, it's Boston!). They also carry some awesome men's clothing. They carry some cool designers from LA and NYC. I almost didn't want to review it because I want to make sure my sizes are still there. I guess that will just keep me being a regular. read more

I've bought some wonderful things here- but it does take a lot of trying on, since many of the clothes are built for tiny, boyish bodies. However you will always find something interesting, especially the dresses, the bags, and the long sweaters. Snagging the stuff on sale helps and it tends to be pricey. I do love it though. read more
