In 2021, I received a chemical peel at this med spa that resulted in a SEVERE chemical burn to my back. The peel was performed by a front desk receptionist who was "in training," not a licensed or certified aesthetic provider. I later learned this occurred because no qualified provider was available at the time, and rather than rescheduling the service, the treatment was performed anyway. I was not informed that the individual performing the treatment was unlicensed, nor was appropriate supervision or medical oversight provided. The result was significant skin injury--second degree burns, as shown in photos taken during my visit at the BURN UNIT. This was not a post-chemical peel reaction -- it was a chemical burn. At the time, I did not fully understand the seriousness of what had occurred. As a nurse working in the field of aesthetics today, I now clearly recognize this as negligence and a breakdown in management, supervision, and patient safety standards. To this day, I'm still baffled by how this was handled afterwards. Beyond the physical injury, the lack of accountability and concern from management/owner during my recovery was deeply upsetting and added to the emotional toll of an already traumatic experience. I was shown to a consultation/exam room which was also clean and well set up. I met with Jacquelyn who told me that she would be the technician doing the consultation and exam. She explained the three options available to me and went over the pricing for each option. After the examination we discussed which options would be the best for me at this time. I decided to continue waxing for now and made my appointment. On the day of my appointment I was shown to a procedure room, which was also extremely clean. Jacquelyn said that she would start on my feet/legs and work her way up to the "Brazilian". She was very conscious of the wax temperature and frequently checked to see if it was too hot (I did have her turn it down a little when she reached the inner thigh). She kept up a not unpleasant and distracting dialogue while conducting the procedure, explaining what she was doing and why. She had to leave a couple of times to tend another client, thus giving me a little break. I was happy to see that she disposed of her gloves prior to leaving the room, washed her hands immediately upon entering my room and re-gloved. Overall, I will say this was one of my more enjoyable waxing experiences (enjoyable is relative, considering that you're getting hair ripped from your sensitive bits by the root). Jacquelyn was extremely professional and more than competent in her technique. She carried on an intelligent and interesting conversation, took sanitary precautions and did not make me feel awkward or embarrassed in any way, which has occurred at other locations. Yelina always does a great job with shampooing, conditioning, and cutting my hair. Yelina also always finds a way to keep the volume in my hair and cut it so it looks like a new haircut for at least a month afterwards. Yelina is also quick, maybe because I'm simple with my requests. There are several other hair stylists here and they also have a tattoo studio. They have blowout memberships and products for sale. The hours are better than most salons in the area and they have their own parking lot. In the lobby, they have products for sale. There is also water and tea. The Whisper Lounge is an excellent feature and I think all spas should have this. I went to a spa years ago in Miami that had a room like this and it was such a valuable amenity. I usually do not get to sit there more a couple of minutes but one day I'll go early so I can sit and relax! There are several services provided here, such as facials and massages. There is also a new salt sauna that you can use for an additional fee. I would love to do an entire spa day there but like most places, it seems almost impossible to be able to book everything in the same day due to schedule conflicts.
