Theodore Belfor, who was a really terrible dentist, has left, and he has been replaced in the same office by Errol Wilson, who is an excellent dentist. But Wilson doesn't have any web presence in Catskill that I can find, so I'm leaving a review here. My only issue is with the office staff. I had to get three appointments, one had me waiting an hour before I had to cancel, the next, they lost the appointment. Finally the third was fine, though it started 45 minutes late. Anyway, Dr. Wilson is good enough to wait for. He's the only Catskill dentist who takes Medicare for routine visits. And he's careful, thorough, precise and charming. read more

I went to Dr. Belfor to get a second opinion on a crown that came off. The first thing I hear when I walk into the office is him yelling at someone in the back room. I immediately Googled him and saw the terrible ratings, I had already filled out the paperwork so I figured I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. When he walked into the examination room he didn't even acknowledge me or introduce himself. As he began to attempt to refit the crown he dropped it in my mouth and I nearly choked. This made me anxious, so when he tried to put it on again I shifted my body very slightly and he yelled, and I mean yelled: "I need you to sit still!" "You need to sit still!" I was in shock that a "professional" dentist would speak to me in such a nasty and aggressive way because I moved slightly. At that point I had seen enough and immediatly left his office. Dr. Belfor should not be practicing dentistry. He's clearly a very angry, impatient and inconsiderate man, and he has no business treating patients that come to him for help. read more

Ok so I can not give 0 stars, so here we go. I initially went to Dr. Belfort for an emergency tooth extraction. Everything went great and they took me in right away. Now I continued to make appointments with this office. 2nd appointment was to have another tooth extracted in preparation for partials. He " numbs" me and barely waits for the novocaine to start working ( it had not numbed anything yet) to start drilling. I told him stop I can feel everything, and he "numbs"me again. Barley waits and goes back at it. At this point I am in agony asking him to stop, he finally does...... only to tell me that he has done 10000 of these procedures and there is no way I feel anything. Goes back to drilling while I'm asking him to stop ignoring the fact I'm in pain and did not stop until his assistant verified to him that I was indeed feeling everything. Now correct me if I am wrong but if someone is hurting you ( causing you pain) and you say stop past that point it is assult.) However I digress. He tries pulling the tooth and it breaks. I get referred to a specialist for extraction and make another appointment to come back to this doctor for what ever reason( still trying to figure out why..... oh yeah he has the approval for my partials) I come back for another appointment in which he has to drill, in the middle of the procedure he is removing the nerve from the tooth, I asked him what happens if he didnt get it all, his response, we will find out right now and continues to drill( by the way I have every phone call and office visit recorded either on audio or video so I can prove what I'm saying. Today 5-23-18 I go back for my partial and he said he is going to be doing a root canal, ummm no you are not is NY response. I then get a lecture about how he is disappointed in me because I went to him for help and now that i have my partial I am leaving( note he got approval for both lower and upper partials and took castings for both but I only received my upper partial) well " doctor" and I use that term loosely, dam right I'm not coming back. You have the bedside manner of an eel, you tell at patients when YOU are hurting them and they call you out on it. YOU should just retire and save people unnecessary pain and suffering. You are correct I will not be back just be lucky I'm not suing you for malpractice and assult. B. probably knows his trade, but his terrible bedside manner is the worst I have ever encountered. He barely talks unless it's about himself, not even hello. His assistant does not know her instruments - she actually loaded the needle backwards, so that I had to have the shots again! And, when I sat up quickly choking on bits of a filling being removed, she ignored my stress and just sat there, saying nothing! I will never go in there again. read more

I am a nurse and have worked with a ton of doctors, many who have bad bedside manner, but Dr. Belfor takes the cake. He dismissed my concerns, then on a return visit with the same problem said that he still didnt' know what was wrong but he was going to fix it. he gave me novacaine then immediately did something (I'm not sure what as he wouldn't give me the chance to talk or ask questions. The novacaine never took effect but he kept working despite me being uncomfortable saying "you're making this very difficult". Once completed I asked about the other side of my mouth which was having the same problem and he said that it wasn't possible and walked out. I was in the office for a total of 7 minutes. read more

well, our cleanings were ok which is why i give two stars. my husband and i both went here for cleanings and initial exams and found it to be fine, though 99% of the time was with the hygienist, the doctor came in at the very end and had very little to say and was about to walk out, but i spoke up and said that i had been having some problems with food getting caught in between my teeth in a certain spot, he looked, acknowledged that there was irritation on the gums and said that he would redo a filling that would solve it. good deal. so i came back to do the filling and the hygienist is telling me for the first time that it was going to be a silver filling because they don't do any white "composite" fillings at all in the office. she and the doctor were expecting to do an entirely different tooth than the one we discussed. i don't have any silver fillings as i'm a professional singer and i can't tell you the number of photos i have with my mouth wiiiiiiide open, but this tooth is pretty close to the front, like would maybe even be visible if i smile big. so i ended up just leaving without doing anything and it was a complete waste of time. no apologies for not saying anything about only doing silver fillings -- even though i have a mouth full of composite fillings and this whole thing could've been very easily avoided by saying that. when i was trying to point out the area that was the problem the doctor snapped at me to get my "fat finger" out of my mouth, when the only reason i was pointing in the first place was because they were going to give me a filling that we hadn't previously discussed at all so clearly some clarification was needed. so, yeah. not a great experience. read more
